Flash Marriage, Deep Love-Chapter 73 You Had an Argument (3)
Chapter 73: Chapter 73 You Had an Argument (3)
As they were talking and speculating, the car had already entered the neighborhood. Mi Zhihong, Fang Qingru, and Mi Wan, who had received the news, were already waiting downstairs. They were very happy to see Xuanxuan brought back safely and were very grateful to Shen Lingxing.
Actually, the person who put in the money and effort for this matter was Ji Dongquan, but the more you explained, the harder it was to clarify, so Shen Lingxing just smiled slightly without saying much.
The family happily went upstairs. Since most of the dinner preparations were already done, Mi Zhihong stayed in the living room with Shen Lingxing to drink tea, while Fang Qingru and Mi Jing took on the follow-up tasks. Mi Wan was not idle either, she took Xuanxuan back to the room and asked her about what happened today.
Hearing her daughter mention "Uncle Long Legs" again, Mi Wan felt puzzled. The first time Xuanxuan mentioned this person, she had specially asked the teacher at the kindergarten, but the teacher didn’t know who he was either, only saying he was a sponsor named Ji.
When she heard this news, her first thought was Ji Dongquan, but after analysis, she rejected this possibility. However, this person appeared again today and helped out significantly. Could it be a coincidence that he happened to be Shen Lingxing’s friend and helped out because of him?
This question quickly formed into a big mystery in Mi Wan’s mind. Thinking this person might be in contact with Shen Lingxing, she planned to ask Mi Jing about it.
After coming out of the room, Xuanxuan ran happily to the balcony to play with the puppy. Mi Wan headed straight to the kitchen to find Mi Jing. Concerned that Fang Qingru was nearby, she didn’t ask directly, but instead helped Mi Jing carry the dishes to the dining table. Only then did she ask, "Jingjing, do you know who Xuanxuan’s ’Uncle Long Legs’ is?"
"I don’t know." Mi Jing said while shaking her head.
"Then Ling Xing should know, right?" Mi Wan glanced at Shen Lingxing in the living room, then looked at Mi Jing and asked.
"I haven’t asked him. Sis, why don’t you ask him?" Mi Jing smiled, encouraging Mi Wan to ask Shen Lingxing.
Your own husband and you’re not asking him, but making the sister ask instead, does that make sense?
Detecting something amiss in Mi Jing’s behavior, Mi Wan temporarily put aside the "Long Legs" issue and stared at Mi Jing, asking, "Did you two have a fight?"
"What are you whispering about? The dishes are ready, start serving the soup."
Just as Mi Wan finished speaking, Fang Qingru’s voice interrupted, ending the sisters’ conversation immediately. One passed the bowls, and the other served the soup.
Throughout the meal, Mi Jing and Shen Lingxing didn’t talk much. Shen Lingxing was acting somewhat unusual, and Mi Jing felt a bit apprehensive, so she didn’t initiate any topics with him.
The other three noticed their unusual behavior. After the meal, Fang Qingru called Mi Jing into the room. Concerned about Mi Jing, Mi Wan followed in with Xuanxuan shortly after.
"What’s going on between you and Ling Xing? Did you have a fight?" Fang Qingru went straight to the point, her attitude stern, but her eyes filled with concern.
Parents always hope their children are well, and Fang Qingru was no exception. She never expected Mi Jing to marry into wealth or status, she just wanted her daughter to be happy. Before meeting Shen Lingxing’s family, Fang Qingru felt Shen Lingxing was quite suitable for her daughter. But knowing his family background, she no longer felt as assured.
After all, they were from an ordinary family, and compared to Shen Lingxing’s background, there was a significant gap, with potential value differences. If Shen Lingxing genuinely treated Mi Jing well, then the difference might not matter. But the two of them barely interacted during dinner, and Mi Jing came back with injuries, which made Fang Qingru truly worried. Furthermore, she weighed Mi Wan’s experience as a precedent, making her even more concerned about Mi Jing’s situation.
"No fight, he’s just in a bad mood." Mi Jing casually replied.
"Then what about the injury on your face? Did he hit you because of his bad mood?" Despite Fang Qingru’s understanding of Shen Lingxing, she couldn’t be completely sure. So in uncertainty, speculation arose.
"Of course not! Mom, what are you thinking? If he really hit me, do you think I would come back home to eat?" Mi Jing emphasized the first four words, not wanting her mother to misunderstand Shen Lingxing.
"It’s debatable. You don’t tell me about minor troubles. If he did hit you, I would certainly be the last to know." This was Fang Qingru’s sole dissatisfaction with her two daughters; they always reported the good news but not the bad, leaving her as the mother invariably the last to know about troubles, unable to help!
Being deceived by kind lies repeatedly, Fang Qingru began to become more cautious, wanting to clarify everything to avoid being kept in the dark.
"Sigh, it’s sad! I didn’t realize I had such little credibility with you." Mi Jing sighed helplessly, thinking she couldn’t keep the cafe incident a secret any longer, otherwise Shen Lingxing might be wrongly blamed.
Hence, Mi Jing narrated the cafe incident to Fang Qingru and Mi Wan. After hearing it, Mi Wan softly murmured, "It really dragged you down."
"Sis, what are you talking about! You didn’t smash the store; what does it have to do with you?" Mi Jing immediately rebutted upon hearing the self-reproach in Mi Wan’s words.
"But those people targeted me. If I hadn’t insisted on taking the rape case, I wouldn’t have offended the Black Dragon Gang’s boss and gotten you hurt."
Sometimes, upholding justice is indeed not easy. Like this time, Mi Wan just wanted to help the victim get justice at a classmate’s request. But before the case went to trial, she was repeatedly threatened, putting her daughter and sister in danger.
However, she did not regret taking the case. Even if it meant encountering numerous difficulties or dangers, she would persist until the point she had to give up.
"Don’t worry, the injury on my face is minor. It’ll heal in a few days." Knowing her face wouldn’t be scarred, Mi Jing no longer felt anxious and casually reassured.
But Fang Qingru felt uneasy, earnestly advising Mi Wan, "Wanwan, act within your means. Fortunately, Xuanxuan and Jingjing are fine this time. If something serious happened..."
"Mom, Xuanxuan and I are fine, so don’t worry. Sis always knows what she’s doing." Mi Jing was always Mi Wan’s strongest supporter in any situation. After speaking, Mi Jing and Mi Wan exchanged looks and smiled.
