Chapter 78: Sunset Screams and a Rescue I
"After this, those who wish to rest in their rooms may do so. However, if anyone wants to practice their performance or song, there are multiple studios available for use. I hope you all have a wonderful day."
Many people chose to go for practice, and without a doubt, Sian was not one of them. Ignoring the glances directed his way, he walked out to breathe in the fresh air and wander along the beach.
Originally, he had only planned to take a short stroll, but who knew what had been going through his mind? He hadn’t even noticed the passing time until he saw the sun setting. Sitting on the shore, he watched the sunset while others sat in pairs or small groups, enjoying the scene with various expressions of joy.
Once again, Sian felt that this peaceful world was a hundred times better than his dark, lifeless one. In his world, there was no sunset—only eternal darkness. Even when light occasionally appeared in the sky, it was merely a sign of impending danger, nothing to rejoice over. The remaining survivors of his world longed for sunlight, yet they trembled in fear when they saw it.
Sian sighed, suppressing the emotions that threatened to spiral out of control as memories of his original world surfaced. He looked up at the sky, only to be startled by a sudden scream. Instinctively, he turned toward the source of the noise and saw a woman running toward the beach, panic, and hysteria evident on her face.
Following her line of sight, he saw someone struggling in the water. Thanks to his extraordinary vision, Sian immediately recognized that the drowning person was a child—no older than ten or eleven.
Without a second thought, Sian shot forward like an arrow, swiftly overtaking the mother, who had been running for some time.
Many people were enjoying the sunset at that moment. Some screamed in panic, urging someone to save the child, while others merely pulled out their phones to record the scene.
Among them was a beautiful young woman who was live-streaming. Her name was Wan Wan, a bright and charming content creator with a decent following due to her warm and kind personality. She had come to the island in search of adventure and had decided to start a live broadcast to share the sunset with her viewers. Who would have thought that such a terrifying event would unfold right before her eyes?
Wan Wan was the first to notice the drowning child. Her cry of alarm alerted the mother and those around her. However, because she didn’t know how to swim, she was utterly helpless, reduced to tears as she watched the scene unfold.
Wan Wan’s assistant, who was holding the camera, wasn’t as softhearted as she was. Focused on his job, he continued filming with precision.
Suddenly, the camera caught sight of a shadow—a figure dashing across the beach at astonishing speed.
[Look! Someone just ran into the water!]
The viewers, already worried about the child, had been comforting Wan Wan. Now, their attention shifted as one of them pointed out a figure moving at an inhuman pace.
Then, with wide eyes filled with shock, they all watched as Sian dove straight into the water without a moment’s hesitation.
[Someone jumped in!]
[Did you see him? He looked so small, yet he didn’t hesitate to risk his life to save the child. What a brave young man.]
[His back looked so small... I hope he can rescue the child quickly.]
As the viewers discussed Sian’s actions, he had already plunged into the water and was swimming toward the child at an incredible speed.
One should never underestimate the power of the sea, especially when dealing with strong tides. To make matters worse, they were on an island, where the waves were exponentially stronger than those of an ordinary beach. That was precisely why the child, who had merely been playing by the shore, had been swept away so quickly, drifting farther and farther from land.
Sian swam through the freezing water, the sun gradually disappearing beyond the horizon. His vision, however, remained sharp—his senses had always been far superior to those of ordinary humans.
Just as he was paddling forward, he suddenly realized the child had vanished beneath the surface.
"Damn it!" Sian cursed loudly amidst the crashing waves.
Without hesitation, he took a deep breath and dove deep into the water. The child had drifted too far. If he wanted to retrieve him as quickly as possible, his only option was to swim underwater.
Wan Wan’s cameraman had been focusing on Sian since the moment he entered the frame. Thanks to the phone’s high-quality camera, the viewers could see Sian’s form cutting through the waves.
[Oh my god, is he an Olympic swimmer?! He’s so fast!]
[His speed is insane! It looks like he’s running on water.]
[He moves like a fish. His strokes are so smooth. Maybe he really can save the child.]
[Brother, jiayou!]
[Fighting! You can do it! Please, save the child!]
The live chat was flooded with words of encouragement.
But then, the screen captured Sian diving deep underwater, and the atmosphere grew tense.
[Damn it! Did the big bro drown too?!]
[Should we call for help? He hasn’t surfaced yet!]
[No, no! I saw him dive on purpose. He didn’t drown! But... he’s been under for too long. I’m scared he’ll pass out from the pressure.]
As the viewers anxiously speculated, the child’s mother sat on the beach, crying uncontrollably. She could no longer see her son above the water. The people around her held her back, preventing her from recklessly charging into the sea. The waves were too strong—if she entered now, she would be swallowed whole.
Minutes passed, filled with nothing but distress, fear, and hopelessness.
Then, suddenly, Wan Wan, who had been wiping her tears, let out an excited scream.
"Look! He’s back! He’s back—with the child! He saved him! They’re safe!"
Her loud cry instantly turned all eyes toward the ocean.
Sure enough, they saw a white-haired figure emerging from the waves, holding an unconscious child in his arms.
[He saved him! Thank goodness!]
[Big bro is insanely strong! I swear he must be a professional swimmer. He was underwater for over three minutes—that’s a record!]
[I hope the child is okay... he looks unconscious.]
