Chapter 1697: Grandson-in-Law

Jiang Yi did not know that Dao Leng had gone to the Earth Domain and was starting to look into his ancestry. He also didn’t know that many spies within the Flying Feather Army had been mobilized to keep watch over his every move.

With the Heavenly King Wei’s assurance, Jiang Yi was very calm and composed now. He vaguely had a sense that Heavenly King Wei probably guessed his identity. If not, Heavenly King Wei would not give him a command token and ask him to cultivate in the Flying Feather Command for a year and order him not to head out.

Jiang Yi indeed did not dare to head out and take on any other missions anymore. The murderous looks that Dao Leng and Dao Nu had given him when they left were a stark reminder that if he dared to venture out, he would immediately be ambushed and wouldn’t even know how he died.

As Yun Bing remained in the Nine Yang City, Jiang Yi was escorted back to the Flying Feather Command mystic realm by two King-Ranked guards. His safe and peaceful return to the Flying Feather Command caused a commotion. Commander Liang came out and immediately welcomed him like a hero back from a victorious battle while Zhang Danian and company also came out to receive him.

Jiang Yi did not explain much, however. After all, whatever that had happened best remained a secret. He entertained them for a while and then returned to his castle.

He sat in a daze for many hours in his castle. After sorting everything out in his mind, he realized that he really wasn’t going to be able to head back to the Earth Domain in the near future. Even if he could, he wouldn’t dare to.

This matter was so big that even Azure Supreme Thearch had sent word over.

If he went back to the Earth Domain and the Dao Clan forcibly killed their way to the Earth Domain, would the four Supreme Thearchs really say anything? For such an insignificant person like him, would the supremes of the Heaven Domain really find trouble with the Dao Clan? Even if they did, so what? With Azure Supreme Thearch protecting the Dao Clan, they would be safe and sound.

Furthermore, if he went back now, he would implicate many around him. If he remained in the Heaven Domain, the Dao Clan wouldn’t be so shameless as to go and deal with Yi Chan, Yin Ruobing, Su Ruoxue, and the others in the Earth Domain, right?

“Cultivate, cultivate!”

Jiang Yi realized that his current enemies were unprecedentedly strong. Without the ability to fight against them, he could only be a turtle hiding in its shell and remain here in the Heaven Domain for the rest of his life. He wouldn’t dare to go back to his home. With Yi Chan and the others still in the Ink Feather Mystic Realm while Yi Piaopiao was locked up at the bottom of Saint Spirit Mountain, Jiang Yi’s heart ached badly just thinking about them.

Hoo-hoo!

He breathed out heavily a few times as he forcibly expelled these stray thoughts from his mind as he prepared to enter seclusion and cultivate. He didn’t want to think about anything else now and was prepared to first cultivate for a full year. He will make further plans once he broke through to the King-Ranked Realm.

“Right… I have a command token now. I can head to the secret cultivation room to cultivate! That way, I will be able to cultivate heavenly powers and increase my level of attainment much faster!”

Although the cultivating speed within the castle was not bad—since there were secret cultivation rooms available, why would Jiang Yi be silly and remain here? He rose and headed outside, looking for Commander Liang to ask some questions. He realized that the Flying Feather Command’s mystic realm had a ten-thousand-fold secret cultivation room.

“Ten-thousand-fold…”

Jiang Yi could not imagine how fast the cultivating speed inside such a room would be. The Heaven Domain’s spirit energy was already ten thousand times that of the Earth Domain. Now, if he entered a ten-thousand-fold cultivation room, his heavenly powers would increase at a very fast rate.

“This is it!”

Jiang Yi didn’t bother to head to Nine Yang City. Since the Flying Feather Command was filled with Heavenly King Yun’s men, no one would be able to touch him here. Not even the Military Law Hall Head would dare to do so, much less Gu Xichao.

“Commander Liang, could you find someone to bring me to the secret cultivation room? I wish to cultivate for a while.”

Jiang Yi inquired. Commander Liang, however, thought that he had heard wrongly. He blinked his eyes and asked, “Erm, Staff Captain Jiang, many battle merits are needed to entire this secret cultivation room; your current amount of battle merits might not even be enough for a day in the secret cultivation room. Would it be very wasteful?”

“Keke!”

Jiang Yi did not explain. He didn’t even bother taking out Heavenly King Wei’s command token as he smiled mysteriously and said, “Just find someone to bring me there.”

Commander Liang found someone, and that person brought Jiang Yi to a castle in the middle of the city plaza. Jiang Yi headed straight in but was stopped by a commander. That commander asked, “Proof of passage?”

A black command token flashed and appeared in Jiang Yi’s hand. That commander’s eyes narrowed as he took it over and examined it in detail. Instantly, he stood upright respectfully, bowed, and said, “My Lord, please!”

“Eh?”

The soldier that brought Jiang Yi along had not seen that command token clearly as he looked bewilderedly at Jiang Yi, not sure what had happened. Why did this commander call Jiang Yi ‘my Lord’?

The castle had countless small rooms as Jiang Yi entered one randomly and activated its restrictions. He immediately could feel the heaven and earth spirit energy inside and his entire being relaxed.

This place indeed had a powerful spirit concentration array. At a ten-thousand-fold pace, his essence force probably would reach the King-Ranked level in almost half a year.

As he had already made some progress with quintessence—with the Divine Tree leaf’s aid, his realization speed would be even faster. Furthermore, he could enter the Primitive Mystic Realm and Dao Heaven Mystic Realm three times for free; it won’t be hard for him to cultivate till the King-Ranked level as well.

“En… since my identity had been made known, there is no need to disguise myself anymore. I’ll return to my original self.”

Jiang Yi thought for a while as he took out some burning flames. He didn’t take out the Fire Spirit Pearl, however, as his entire body started to burn. He hurriedly took out the Divine Tree leaf as his injuries recovered at a frightening speed. The burned skin started to heal, and his scars peeled off patch by patch. His skin became like that of a newborn baby’s.

“What a good thing!”

As all the pain and aching in his body subsided, Jiang Yi’s caressed the Divine Tree leaf and exclaimed. He changed into a new set of clothes as he touched his bald head. All the hairs on his body had been burned, and it would probably take some time to grow them back.

“Cultivate!”

Jiang Yi sat cross-legged as he cultivated heavenly powers and realized quintessence simultaneously. He didn’t have time to figure out the acupoints and divine patterns now; he wanted to reach King-Ranked Realm first before considering that. Since he was going to be in seclusion for a year, he had all the time he needed.

Jiang Yi forced himself not to think so much and to forget Yi Chan, Yi Piaopiao, and the others. He focused completely on his cultivation.

His heavenly powers cultivation speed was indeed fast as his entire body slowly but surely grew stronger while being enveloped by heaven-and-earth spirit energy. At the same time, he kept on swallowing spirit herbs to nourish his soul spirit, making it slowly grow stronger.

As he held onto the Divine Tree leaf, Jiang Yi’s realization speed was now comparable to being in the Dao Heaven Mystic Realm. Unfortunately, quintessence was extremely hard to fathom. Jiang Yi could only realize it step-by-step, to continuously revise his thinking and conjectures.

Without knowing it, ten days had passed!

Jiang Yi’s burned hairs had already grown back; he now had a head of red hair just like old times. At that point, the restrictions outside suddenly lit up, startling Jiang Yi. He deactivated the restrictions and sent his divine senses out, seeing a beautiful figure there.

Buzz!

Without Jiang Yi needing to open the door, it had been forcibly activated by someone outside. Yun Bing walked in briskly. After seeing Jiang Yi, she thought she had entered the wrong room. However, she turned back again and looked startled. Yun Bing asked, “Eh? You are Jiang Yi? Since when were you so handsome?”

Jiang Yi was not ugly to begin with. After being reformed by the Destitute Dragon Grass, his features had been slightly altered such that there was an inexplicable charm and airs to him. He looked completely different from the ugly, scarred version of him before; and it was natural that Yun Bing had not recognized him at the start.

“Keke!”

Jiang Yi smiled lightly as he said, “General, I am still that ugly fiend. However, I am wearing a human skin mask now.”

“Liar!”

Yun Bing’s divine senses swept over as she pursed her lips. Following that, she spun about Jiang Yi and asked curiously, “Jiang Yi, be honest. Who are you exactly? What’s so special about you? Why do Grandfather Wei and my grandfather look so highly of you? Grandfather Wei had actually given you his own command token; even I am not qualified to have it.”

“If you’re asking me, who should I ask? You should ask the two Heavenly Kings directly.” He couldn’t tell Yun Bing anything; what if she was sent by the two Heavenly Kings to feel him out?

Yun Bing’s eyes widened as she replied angrily. “Alright, Jiang Yi, you are now confident and can survive on your own, is it? You aren’t even willing to tell me things now? Do you believe that I will ask men to throw you out of the Nine Yang Valley, so that the Dao Clan can cut you up into pieces?”

“Don’t…”

Jiang Yi could not afford to offend this feisty young mistress. He thought about it and scratched his nose embarrassingly as he said, “I think… probably the two old men see that I am rather a talent and want to nurture me to be one of their successors. Or perhaps your grandfather wants me to become his grandson-in-law; that’s a possibility as well.”

“Get lost!”
