Chapter 138: 138 Connection 01.

The girl, around eight years old, puffed out her chest, boasting adorably while her fluffy tails swung happily behind.

Jin, who recognized that name, nodded and muttered to himself.

’I never thought I could have a chance this fast in knowing the company?’.

His first impression of the Tojima began when he bought the Takoyaki, and then he started to speculate.

Was the one who invented Takoyaki in this world the same as him? A reincarnated person, or just a genius who invented it from scratch?

He wanted to make sure that the person who invented it was the same as him.

Jin would love to have a nice conversation together to gain information if they have it.

The little girl blinked; her bright eyes swept over Jin’s body, and she sprang up from her seat.

"Thank you for the help, big bro".

Hiyori’s short purple hair fluttered gently as she landed on the ground. Her mini kimono shimmered in light blue with a short skirt for easy movement.

The girl seemed to have a brave heart and cheerful personality, which made Jin reluctant to part with her.

Also, there was a disgusting part of him who wanted to be friendly to the girl and maybe get some connection through her.

One reason was that he needed information regarding the continuation of the story from here on out.

Jin indeed had the system for that, but it never gave him a clear picture of the event that would start.

Many of the quests were cryptic and had to be dealt with head-on without giving him enough preparation.

Although Jin succeeded in preventing them, he didn’t know how long it would last, whether it was himself or the resounding storm that was brewing behind.

’What should I do?’. Jin opened his mouth, trying to reply to the girl, but the words got stuck in his throat.

As the sun glared above them, a cute growl echoed within the area, coming from Hiyori’s little tummy that asked to be fed.

"Ah...". Hiyori’s ears flattened just like her tail, holding her rumbling stomach.

Jin couldn’t help but chuckle to see her childish side, who got embarrassed just because of being hungry.

He took out a paper bag from his Item Box. Once opened a sweet and crisp taste of melted butter made the fox girl flinch.

Hiyori’s nose twitched continuously as her animal characteristic stood up. She cupped her own cheeks with a melted expression.

"Smell so good, what is that, big bro?".

"It’s cookie". Jin smiled and presented the bag to the girl. He secretly exhaled in relief for storing much food in his Item Box. "You can have some".

"Really?".

The girl looked inward; her amethyst eyes sparkled like twinkling stars.

However, as her hand reached out, she stopped midway and glanced at Jin’s face.

"Can Hiyori really have it?".

Her fox ears and tail slumped down, truly showing her emotion.

"Of course".

To make sure the girl could breathe in relief, Jin took a piece and tossed it into his mouth.

He took a bite, and a wave of sweetness filled his mouth. The rich taste of butter and a hint of vanilla loosened his facial expression.

"Here, you try it". Jin grabbed another piece and held it before the fox girl, who was drooling.

Hiyori hesitated for a few seconds; then, she took the cookie that crumbled gently in her fingers. She took a bite, then her eyes widened in joy.

"Umm, it’s sweet".

"It’s bad manners to eat while standing, Hiyori, let’s take a seat".

Jin flopped his butt into the benches watching the fox girl lunged beside him. He put the bag, which was still warm, on the girl’s lap, making her large eyes blink in wonder.

"Go help yourself. I still have more". Jin took another bag and pried it open to enjoy the snacks.

"Thank you, big bro".

The two enjoyed bathing in the warm glow of the sun, silently tasting the sweetness that melted in their mouth.

Hiyori couldn’t stop wiggling her feet with a broad smile on her expression. She propped one cookie after the other until the contents of her paper bag were gone.

"Hiyori, what about your parents?". Jin offered the cookies in his bag, but the girl shook her head.

"Hiyori was already full. Mother and Father are having a meeting with a client in our branch store".

"I see, are you sure you don’t want more?".

Hiyori nodded and said while tapping her belly. "Hiyori’s Mom said not to eat so many sweets".

Jin shoved the last piece of cookie in hand to his mouth and stored the rest.

"Then, what are you doing alone?".

"Right, Hiyori almost forgot".

The fox girl abruptly stood up from the seat and jumped to the ground, followed by a resounding ’tack’ from her wooden sandals.

"What’s the matter? Did you not tell your parents?".

Her body stiffened; probably, Jin’s guess was correct about her running away from the store without her parent’s consent.

Hiyori turned her back; her tails trembled slightly. "Nishishi, yes, Hiyori forgot to tell Mom about going out. What should Hiyori do?".

Jin stood up and patted the fox girl’s head. He locked eyes with the girl’s large eyes swelled with tears.

"Let’s go, I will accompany you".

She gasped and nodded furiously. "Thank you, big bro".

He lifted his legs to follow Hoyori, matching her stride as the girl continued talking about her family.

"...So, Hiyori was afraid of your Mother?".

"Yes, Hiyori’s mother was gentle yet sometimes scary when agitated, there was also a time when big bro...".

They returned toward the bustling place, filled with buzzing crowds that were still conducting their business.

Children around Hiyori’s age walked past them while occasionally glancing at her side, noticing just how cute the girl was.

With her bright personality and good looks, Hiyori was undoubtedly transformed into a beautiful woman one day.

Jin’s expression hardened as he felt a tingling sensation crawl over his nape, like a chilling blade ready to slice his artery at any time.

He shifted his attention toward the source and found a fox-eared boy, the same age as Jin, standing not too far away, leaking a palpable murderous intent toward the populated area.

Instinctively, Jin stepped forward while shielding Hiyori behind.

"Can I help you?". Jin asked nicely, only to be replied by a low, threatening growl.

However, before the tension escalated, Hiyori’s ears perked up and waved her hand.

"Big bro Kenji".

"Kenji?". Jin tilted his head, finding the name familiar.

"Hiyori, stay away from that dangerous man".

Kenji hissed, his animal characteristics trembling in wary while brandishing the claws that grew from his fingertips, gleaming dangerously.

’...Dangerous? Me?’. Jin inhaled deeply, trying not to be too obvious about his twitching expression.

The words from Kenji intrigued him, flipping a switch that opened a path in his brain as memories started to resurface from within the depths.

’He said that as if he knew my identity, which means...’.

Jin gulped to moisten his parched throat with sweat trickling down his back, feeling nervous about the whole situation.

’If he was the same as me, then it was worth a shot’.

"Yo, what’s up, man?". Jin raised a hand as he said those words in full English, a foreign language that shouldn’t have appeared in this world.

The atmosphere stilled while sound started to fade from his ears, watching the fox boy named Kenji with his eyes nearly popping out from their socket.

"...You! No, no way". Kenji shook his head furiously and raised his trembling hands. "Sup!".
