232 Reason’s Visit

Remides nervously spoke to the empty room after retrieving the Glazed Moon enchanted arrows from the time cocoon in Moonlaw City’s empty collection room, “We have to help the Presiding Judge. He’s alone now…”

She knew that her words would reach Blake, owner of Black Crow Gaze.

“We?” Blake’s voice immediately echoed in her ears.

Suddenly, she found herself in a solemn palace where Blake sat on a throne surrounded by an ominous dark aura.

“I received orders to complete the construction of the coordinates here and send you and the palace back to Ava State safely to help stabilize the situation,” Blake stated.

In his hand, a new coordinate was slowly materializing from the void. But it was clear that this process was taking an agonizingly long time.

Maybe seeing the resolute look on Remides’s face, Blake added, “I know you’re antsy, and I am too. But please have faith in the Presiding Judge. If he says a problem can be solved, it will definitely be solved. Hasn’t it always been that way in the past?”

“If you recall much of what happened in the past, you should realize that his judgment has not always been correct.”

As Remides spoke, she clutched the Glazed Moon tightly in her hand.

“So, what’s your plan? You really think you can just walk out there and face the Moon Realm army on your own? Times have changed, Remides. There’s no Knights, no Salvation Army allies, no Black Sword, no backup. You’ll be walking straight into your death if you try to go out there alone…”

“I’ll handle it. You just keep working on the coordinates here.”

Remides loaded her quiver with arrows and spoke with icy determination.

But as she turned to leave, the heavy black iron door to the palace suddenly slammed shut and two thick chains snaked around it, locking it tight.

“I’m sorry, but the Presiding Judge gave me specific instructions before he left. If you try to go out on your own, I have to stop you for now,” Blake said apologetically as he sat on the throne.

Remides gave Blake a murderous glare as he spoke,

“Don’t do anything to distract me. If you want the Presiding Judge to come back alive, the only option is to wait for my coordinates to be completed.”

For a moment, Remides was consumed by anger and frustration. Her hand, holding the transparent bow, shook uncontrollably. She stood frozen in place, taking deep breaths to try and calm down.

Finally, she fixed her gaze on Blake and said slowly, “You haven’t changed at all. You’re still hiding behind rebellious and cynical words and actions, never making your own judgments or doubting your companions… I thought Coles’s situation would at least help you grow up a little bit…”

It was clear that Blake’s words had really upset Remides. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have brought up the painful memory that neither of them wanted to revisit.

But in Remides’s eyes, even if the Presiding Judge had been at his strongest a thousand years ago, there was no way he could’ve survived an attack from such a massive Lunar Monster Legion. Trusting Blake was just watching the Presiding Judge walk to his death.

More importantly, the Presiding Judge was willing to take this risk all for her. He could’ve just retreated back to the Grief Mountains and let the Ava State, which she’d ruled for a thousand years, fall into chaos.

But Blake didn’t get angry at Remides’s words. Instead, he just smiled, which only made Remides angrier.

“Why are you smiling?” Remides demanded angrily.

“Miss Moonshadow… we can only be said to be on par when it comes to judging people, correct?”

Blake turned to gaze at the Tacma Church consultant, guarded by many Voidwalkers.

If Remides hadn’t had such trust in the Tacma Church, she might not have almost become a sacrifice to Holy Spirit Terra.

“You don’t need to worry too much about this. The Presiding Judge once told me, ‘there’s no need to punish your kindness with the mistakes of others.’ It’s not your fault for being betrayed by someone you trusted.”

As Remides’s anger intensified, Blake quickly tried to comfort her.

“Now, back to business. You don’t know the strength of the returning Presiding Judge. It’s understandable for you to use the standards from a thousand years ago as a basis for your judgment and feel uneasy about him.”

“But no matter how strong…” Remides interrupted.

No matter how tough the Presiding Judge was, he was still a mortal. It was a fact that one person can’t defeat the entire Moon Realm Legion.

“He’s still a mortal, right?”

As if knowing what the other party wanted to say, Blake added before shaking his head.

“You’re not understanding the full picture. Sure, from a personality standpoint, he’s the same mortal we used to know. But in terms of strength, he’s something else entirely. Just wait, the demonic spirit I summoned should be here any moment.”

With a flick of his finger, Blake summoned a one-eyed crow from his shadow. It flew into the air and exploded into a cloud of black mist, which formed into a swirling vortex. Within the vortex was a sparkling mirror, showing a real-time scene.

In the reflection, two brass axes clashed in midair, sparks flying. But neither could gain the upper hand.

One of the axe-wielders was the blood-soaked Demon General Carnage, with bulging muscles and red skin. The other was clad in thick black iron armor, with Power of Dragons magic runes glowing on his arms. It was clear that neither of them could defeat the other in terms of strength.

“Presiding Judge?!” Remides yelled out in shock.

She wasn’t surprised that William’s wrist could hold its own against the infamous Demon General Carnage, known for its immense strength. What really shocked her was the fact that William was giving up his long-range advantage as a magic chanter and fighting Carnage head-on.

Was he insane?

The two battled on a gray land, and it seemed like it would be a long, drawn out fight if they were the only ones fighting.

In the projection, every time two people reached a stalemate, the Bloodprint Warriors, Corpse Warriors, Starvation, and other King of Deathblood’s spawn would swarm William. He would barely manage to force them back and use simple spells to take out the surrounding soldiers.

Every time this happened, Carnage would take advantage of the situation and leave a few mild wounds on William’s body. After a few rounds of this, William was covered in wounds and his breathing became heavy.

“Is this what you meant by… the current Presiding Judge surpasses mortals in strength?” Remides asked Blake, seated on the throne in a frenzy.

Before Blake could even respond, William was struck in the shoulder again. He gritted his teeth and used Life spells to stop the bleeding. He muttered to himself, “Reinforcements are needed…”

Carnage swung its ax, glowing red with blood lust, as it charged towards William. This time, 15 elite Bloodprint Warriors followed behind it, swords raised high and blessed by Brand himself. They were determined to overwhelm their enemy with this attack.

The ash-covered hurricane swept past, scattering the Lunar Monsters and causing the weaker ones to dissipate.

Even Carnage was halted in its tracks, unable to move closer.

As the hurricane subsided, the creature lifted its ax to shield its head.

Clang!

The golden sword of a holy knight collided with Carnage’s brass ax with a loud clang.

Had the strike been just a few seconds later, Carnage would have been beheaded.

“Tch…”

The attacker let out a grunt of disdain before leaping back to stand beside William, who was dressed in black armor.

...

The attacker was adorned in pure white armor and had a pair of holy angel wings extending from it. These wings had allowed the attacker to fly like a meteor towards Carnage, trying to behead the enemy.

Standing next to William was a hooded person dressed in a silver robe, holding a wooden magical medium with a small storm gathering at the top.

“I was foolish to think I could take on a Demon General at Carnage’s level alone, especially with the personal guards of the Divine Grace Bloodprint warriors present,” William said from within his black armor.

“It takes at least three of us to handle this,” the silver-robed person added.

The attacker hovering in the air flapped their wings and spoke, “Then let’s use Judgment 2 to finish the job and send this one to its death.”

Remides watched the scene unfold on the screen, completely stunned.

“Those three… they’re all William?” she turned to Blake and asked, “Three?”

Blake shook his head as the floating perspective from midair suddenly stretched, revealing the entire battlefield in front of them.

Countless Lunar Monsters were surging in one direction, where dozens or more than a hundred Presiding Judges were slaughtering them.

“This is what I’m talking about. The Presiding Judge has surpassed the might of mortals,” Blake said. He then looked at a corner of the palace and continued, “Also, if you want to ruin my work, that was the best opportunity. Since you didn’t make a move, I want to ask, do you also want to negotiate?”

At that moment, a butler dressed in formal attire with a handlebar mustache appeared in an empty corner.

...

He bowed to the two of them and said, “Honorable Father of the Crows and the Lord of Ava State. My name is Reason, and I don’t represent my master’s will today. I wish to talk to the two of you who also don’t represent your master’s will.”
