Glamour and Sass: A Rejected Bride's Revenge-Chapter 87: I allow you
Chapter 87: I allow you
Cecilia immediately recognized the person in the car as Steven. She forcefully pried his hands away.
"Mr. Lawrence, is there anything we can’t discuss properly? This kind of impoliteness doesn’t befit a gentleman."
Steven also realized he had lost his composure, but he just couldn’t help it.
Ever since he speculated that she wanted to be Alex’s mother, he had been waiting for her to make her next move.
But after waiting for a few days without seeing any action from her, he received a video from Ethan.
In the video, she was playing the piano while all the men in the audience were staring intently at her. It had inexplicably annoyed him.
After thinking it over, he had sent her a message.
[Miss Morrison, do you have time to talk about Alex’s matter?]
But after half an hour with no response from her, he couldn’t sit still any longer. He sped all the way here and saw Cecilia, with flushed cheeks from drinking, waiting by the roadside for a car.
At that moment, Steven snapped out of his thoughts.
"There really is something that can’t be discussed easily."
"What is it?"
"It’s about Alex."
Cecilia perked up immediately.
Steven continued to speak, "You mentioned last time that you wanted Alex. I can’t possibly give him to you."
She was disappointed. "Then why did you bring it up?"
He continued, "I know why you want Alex, and I think we can be a bit more open about this with each other."
She was startled. Could it be that he already knew about her relationship with Alex?
"In that case, I’ll be straightforward—I do want Alex. How about this: I won’t let you raise him all these years for nothing. Name your price, and I’m willing to pay."
Now, it was Steven’s turn to be dumbfounded.
‘What is this woman talking about?’
Seeing that he didn’t respond, she thought for a moment and said seriously, "I understand that naming a price might make you feel uneasy. How about ten billion?"
He was speechless.
‘Why can’t this woman understand what I’m saying?’
"I can’t possibly sell my child. I told you we should be more open—do you understand what I mean at all?"
Cecilia was also speechless now.
Who was the one who didn’t understand the other right now?
"I’ve been very open. If not, then what’s your solution?"
Steven was about to burst with frustration. He looked at her and replied, "What I mean is, I allow you to be Alex’s mom."
She was perplexed.
What was he going on about? She was already Alex’s mom, so why would she need his permission?
Could it be...
By then, she realized what he meant.
This man had no idea about her relationship with Alex, and he only thought she wanted to be Alex’s stepmother in the Lawrence family.
In other words, he thought she had feelings for him.
...
Both of them were speechless.
At that point, Cecilia couldn’t be bothered to argue anymore. She pushed open the door, about to get out.
"Forget it, there’s no need for it anymore."
Suddenly feeling a bit panicked, Steven reached out and grabbed her arm, pulling her toward him. On the other hand, she didn’t see it coming and ended up in his arms.
His nose was right at her neck, breathing heavily against her skin.
She suddenly felt a bit hot, her ears beginning to flush red.
Fortunately, in the car, the dim light made their blushing ears indistinguishable.
But in the quiet confines of it, the sound of their racing hearts was particularly loud.
Steven awkwardly spoke up, "Um... your bag."
Cecilia grabbed her bag and quickly got out of the car.
"Thanks."
Then, she hurried into Edwin’s car.
Blushing profusely, she couldn’t help but crack the car window open slightly.
On the other hand, Edwin was puzzled.
"Miss, it’s quite cold right now. Are you feeling hot?"
Cecilia coughed to cover up her embarrassment.
"Yeah, I drank quite a bit, so I’m feeling a bit hot."
She shook her head, trying not to dwell on the incident.
In the afternoon, as usual, Emma finished her art class and received praise from her teacher. During recess, all the children gathered around her.
"Emma, you’re so amazing~"
"Emma, can you teach me how to draw the sun?"
Kenny was once the most popular kid, but he was now isolated. He looked at Emma irritably, before pushing his way through the kids gathered around her using his large stature.
He grabbed her painting that had earned her five gold stars, tearing it into shreds in no time.
After that, he pointed at her and yelled out, "Didn’t you say you were going to bring someone even better to prove yourself? It’s been so long, and nobody has come yet. You’re just a liar, a big phony!"
