To convince a King, one must first persuade his most trusted advisors.
In the game, advisors act as tutors for new players, teaching them how to build cities and greatly assisting them in becoming familiar with city facilities, ensuring newbie players do not make low-level mistakes. Of course, the suggestions from novice advisors are very by the book; if a player considers themselves a veteran, they can completely disregard the advisors’ suggestions. For instance, the aggressive military development strategy during public testing, which the advisors strongly oppose, is indeed very effective in the chaotic environment of the New World. Therefore, one may choose not to heed the advisors’ words.
Also, in the absence of officials in a player’s city, advisors can act in their stead.
