Greatest Legacy of the Magus Universe-Chapter 737: Primal Fear
The Cage, Floating Marketplace.
As the five Rank 2 Magi of the Umbra Thieves stepped foot inside this establishment, they were suddenly overcome by nervousness.
It seemed to stem from the bottom of their hearts.
Fear. Panic. Horror.
For some strange reason, their skin was covered in goosebumps and their backs drenched in a layer of cold sweat.
It was as if they had entered the den of ferocious beast—a slumbering beast.
And what they were about to do was no different than awakening the beast from its slumber.
"Hey… you feel that?" One of the Magi whispered, fear slowly gripping his heart.
"…Yeah."
"What's this strange feeling?"
"It's like… I don't know… should we turn back around?"
The five of them moved through the pathway that housed steel cages on either side. Blood, pieces of flesh, and tattered clothes were strewn all across the floor.
"Where are the slaves?" Asked one of the Magi.
"Were they all killed?" Asked another.
"I'm not sure…"
"So many people were slaughtered in the last couple of weeks."
"Did some of our men visit this place and kill all the slaves?"
No one knew the answer. They didn't know if the hundreds of captured slaves that were held captive in The Cage were dead, or if they had fled.
For now, they didn't bother about it any further. Their objective was simple - follow the cat and find the perpetrator who was most likely responsible for the chaos ensuing above.
"Where did the beast go?"
"I heard sounds coming from there!" Said a Magus, pointing at the stairwell that led to the underground training pit.
"Let's go!"
"Be vigilant at all times."
"Keep your material components ready!"
"If it's truly as we think it is, then Silver Vess and her men must be lying in ambush."
Despite the foreboding feeling in their hearts, they strode forward, one step at a time.
After all, they were under the impression that they would only have to deal with one Mana Liquesfaction Magus and a handful of Mana Foundation Magi.
Or so they believed…
…
Following behind them, in the shadows, the Rank 3 - Mana Vortex Magus had a very grave expression on his face.
His sense of danger was far more pronounced than the five Magi before him could perceive.
What is this strange feeling? he thought.
It's as if… I'm entering the domain of a predator…
A primal feeling of terror washed over him, and for a moment, he hesitated whether to venture further inside.
His instincts screamed at him to turn around and immediately leave this place.
The cultist paused in his footstep, gazing intently into the depths of the building. A drop of sweat trickled down the side of his forehead.
Im-Impossible! Just what is this terrifying feeling?! This tyrannical aura… is this even human?!
He didn't know the origin of this predatory aura.
But he had this strange feeling that a pair of bloodthirsty eyes with vertical pupils was coldly gazing at him, eyeing his every movement, ready to strike him down given the opportunity.
The man loudly gulped, instinctively taking a step back. He lowered his head, his eyes flashing with shock.
I'm… afraid?
The next moment, he came to a decision. He weaved a simple hand seal, causing his shadow to come alive and allowing a ghostly apparition to emerge from it.
A wraith!
'Follow those five Magi and inform me of their findings,' he mentally transmitted a command.
The wraith, who had donned a tattered black robe and had the upper body shaped in the form of a humanoid and lower body shaped like a phantasmal tail, bowed in deference.
It then turned around and silently followed behind the Magi from the Umbra Thieves.
Meanwhile, the Rank 3 cultist gradually retreated into the darkness.
…
Darkfang Docks, Blackshore.
After bombarding hundreds of Magic Missiles for over a minute, the three councilors of Ravenfell finally gave the order to stop.
The docksides were enveloped in thick layers of flames, with dust and debris flying off everywhere. It was difficult to see the devastation caused by the bombardment of the three ships.
When the dust settled, the scene that greeted the forces of Ravenfell caused their expressions to turn grave—especially for all the Rank 2 Magi.
As for Nylian Feno, Brigham Flynn, and Daniel Ranzenberg, they had expected such a situation.
After all, a city such as Blackshore, which was the main stronghold of the Umbra Thieves, would naturally have some defenses set up to prevent enemies from invading.
An expansive dome made of pure mana came into view once the dust cleared. This mana shield, a result of magic from the School of Warding, was able to defend against the hundreds of Magic Missiles.
Although the shield was now full of cracks, it still remained standing, protecting the lawless city of Blackshore from the armed forces of Ravenfell.
Seeing such an outcome, the Magi of Blackshore roared in exhilaration. One moment, they thought that'd die under the rain of Magic Missiles, but the next moment they found themselves alive and kicking.
With adrenaline coursing through their veins, they raised their weapons in the air and pointed them at the three ships, roaring in defiance.
They were ready to battle!
In a clash of steel and spells, they were ready to bring forth a torrent of blood upon their enemies.
While these Rank 1 and 2 Magi were celebrating, the three leaders of the Umbra Thieves weren't. For they knew that the shield wouldn't hold for long.
As if confirming their thoughts, the sky above the Darkfang Docks started to gradually darken. Within a few moments, thunderous booms emerged from above.
The Councilors of Ravenfell had made their move!
Standing at the decks of their respective ships, they simultaneously weaved hand seals. A few moments later, three large magic circles appeared in the air above the docks.
The three magic circles then combined into one enormous magic circle.

And then came the wrath of Ravenfell.
Rank 3 Spell: Summon Lightning!
BOOOOOMMMM!!!!!
A thick pillar of lightning descended from the heavens as if the gods themselves had brought down fury upon the city of Blackshore.
Now, usually, this spell would not have such a powerful energy output, but thanks to the three Mana Vortex Magi combining their mana and fusing the spell into one, it resulted in a combination spell that was enough to level a small town to cinders!
The mana shield protecting the city immediately shattered into countless pieces under the terryifying power of the Rank 3 combination spell.
However, it had managed to do its job of protecting the city before completely dissipating into tiny motes of light.
As the shiled protecting their enemies disintegrated into nothingness, Nylian unsheathed his sword and pointed it downward.
"Kill them all!"
