GREED: ALL FOR WHAT?-Chapter 2052: Changed Fate.
The night guards can be very dangerous to encounter. But in most cases, they are a delight to encounter. It all depends on who it is that is encountering them.
In the case of Levi, for example. When they came to his house and came into his compound, they saw him still alive, but they were not happy about it.
Everyone in the village had died but him. So either he was lucky, or there is something special about him.
What is special about him might not be a good thing. It may be that he is the one responsible for all of these deaths. Or he is someone more formidable than whatever caused all of these deaths, so he didn’t die.
That’s why the first thing they did was to take out their pistols or draw their swords. All of the night guards carrying the green lamp did so. Only those with red, yellow, and white lamps didn’t need swords and pistols to protect themselves.
After taking precautions and making sufficient preparations, they began to approach him. Levi couldn’t move, so he could only watch them approach.
Only his eyes could move. They tracked their movement which was eerie to see from a dying man.
The captain said to one of the red lamps, "Corporal, make the inspection."
A woman carrying a red lamp came up to Levi with a dead lamp. As this lamp got close to him, Levi began to feel a pull from it.
There was something special about the lamp and there was something unnatural within him. These two things were interacting with one another.
The lamp was pulling whatever was within him to the surface. It wanted to expose him for what he truly is.
This jogged Levi’s memory. He was able to remember why and when he had died.
In his past life, when he was first Levi, something had happened to the village he was living in. He was the only one who survived. But he had lost his memories and his strength.
When the night guards came two days later, they exposed what was in him and killed him because of it.
Back then, he had died confused. He thought he was going to be saved, but they didn’t help him. Instead, they killed him.
But now he knows why he was killed. Not only that, he knows what it is that is inside of him and how to control it.
So when the lamp came up to him, it didn’t produce any light. The lamp pulled and pulled and pulled, but the thing inside of him refused to show itself. This time around, he had the capacity to change his fate.
So the red lamp night guard turned to the rest and shook her head. She didn’t need to. Everyone could see that the lamp didn’t light up. That meant the man on the floor was completely normal and safe.
He wasn’t contaminated and he wasn’t a godclad, so they sighed in relief. Then they came to him to examine him.
The captain said, "It is a miracle that he is still alive and not contaminated."
The yellow lamp sergeant said, "It shows that this wasn’t caused by an anomaly. Someone must have killed all of these people and missed one."
The other sergeant who had advocated caution before coming to a conclusion didn’t want to argue now. He just said, "The man is just weak and tired. He might also be traumatized by the experience, but it is nothing too serious. He can still be saved. It looks like we were not too late after all."
The night guards felt good about themselves when they heard that. Some of them got to work trying to save Levi’s life while the others continued to search the village for others that might have survived this calamity.

Whatever they did, they did so with smiles and enthusiasm. It is all because they managed to save one person in this calamity.
The night guards can be considered as a police force. It is their job to patrol their territory and keep the people in their territory safe. So when they keep people safe, they feel validated.
Of course, they didn’t let their joy at saving someone get to their head. They still remembered to do their due diligence in properly handling the only witness they have in the case.
No one else survived in the village. That means only Levi could tell them what happened.
Actually, Levi is still a suspect. The fact that he wasn’t contaminated by whatever killed everyone else or that he doesn’t seem to be a godclad doesn’t mean he is completely innocent of what had happened.
It could be that he had a deal with the godclad who killed everyone. The godclad spared his life for some reason or another.
Either way, Legion still wasn’t cleared of suspicion yet. So they took him with them to their base for better treatment and interrogation.
The treatment lasted two months. During that time, he still couldn’t move. Only his eyes could barely track movement.
After two months, they were sure that he was a cripple and would be a cripple for the rest of his life. So they stopped thinking about him and moved on with their lives.
It wasn’t until six years later that he digested his memories and could finally move. The night guards were happy for him, but he was mortified.
"Six years to digest some memories. Is it a Supreme law or something?"
Then he chuckled and thought to himself, "Come to think of it. I was indeed comprehending a Supreme law."
His memories are massive as they span the experience of many lives. They also contain here his comprehension of laws and knowledge of his many Supreme laws that he has comprehended over those lives.
So even though the human mind is weak, it couldn’t be blamed too much for spending so much time trying to sort out everything he knew.
