Guide to Failing as a Full-Level Green Tea-Chapter 26 - Making Money
After everyone left, the maid beside Concubine Jia approached her. “Your Highness, is this person reliable?”
Concubine Jia snorted. “My father has already given their family hundreds of taels of silver. Doctor Zhang has served three generations of concubines in the palace; they are well aware of these matters.”
The maid finally breathed a sigh of relief. “That’s good. The master outside has already sent someone to handle it.”
Concubine Jia rubbed her forehead. “Good, I trust your arrangements.”
At that moment, a rustling sound came from outside the window. Concubine Jia sat up straight, signaling to the maid beside her, “Go and check.”
The maid cautiously walked over and flung the window open. “Who’s there?”
There was a meow, and a pure white cat fell from the windowsill inside.
The two women exchanged glances. “Isn’t this the cat raised by Concubine Shu?”
Concubine Jia took a few steps over and grabbed the cat by the scruff of its neck with a look of disdain. “Even this little beast dares to bully me.”
The maid quickly took the cat from her hands. “Your Highness, be careful. Don’t let this beast scratch you.”
Concubine Jia glanced at the cat, her eyes cold. “Kill it and throw it into Dawn Palace.”
The maid broke into a cold sweat. “Your Highness, isn’t this a bit much?”

Concubine Jia glared at her. “What?”
The maid obeyed and took the cat into the courtyard. She randomly picked a young palace maid and instructed her, “Find a way to get rid of it and give it to Fu Shun to throw into Dawn Palace.”
The young palace maid, clueless, nodded and took the cat. However, she couldn’t bear to kill it and instead ran far away to an abandoned well, where she dropped it in.
She peered down at the meowing cat and sighed, “At least you don’t have to die…”
When the young palace maid returned and told the maid that the cat had fallen into a well and couldn’t be retrieved, she received a scolding and a few slaps. After a few days, the matter was forgotten.
That night, the world was silent.
Shen Roujia nimbly slipped out of the door and dusted off her hands, heading straight for the Gu residence.
After sneaking through walls and holes multiple times, Shen Roujia found herself quite adept at it.
“Hi, Gu Zhi.”
Gu Zhi was no longer surprised to see Shen Roujia suddenly appear.
“You’re here.”
Shen Roujia smiled at Gu Zhi. “You look good today. Did something good happen?”
Gu Zhi chuckled. “There was a small issue with the Bai family recently.”
Shen Roujia tensed up. “What? Did you find out something?”
Gu Zhi looked at Shen Roujia. “It wasn’t a big deal at first, but it involved a murder case, and someone got caught. They’ve lost a lot of money in compensations.”
Unable to resist Shen Roujia’s curious look, Gu Zhi explained everything.
It turned out Concubine Shu’s brother, blinded by lust, had bragged and committed an assault at a drinking party. The victim, a respectable woman, was connected to a noble family and wanted to marry him. When she threatened to take her case to court, the family quietly settled, packed up, and planned to return to their hometown.
Gu Zhi sent a secret message to the Qiao family, and a few days later, the woman’s complaint reached the emperor.
When officials went to investigate, they found the woman had hanged herself.
The emperor was furious and ordered the punishment of several involved officials.
The Qiao family, waiting for an opportunity to bring down the Bai family, seized this chance.
Shen Roujia laughed. “No wonder Concubine Shu hasn’t bothered me these days.”
Gu Zhi smiled. “The Bai family’s roots are intertwined with many. If they fall, there will be chaos. The Zhou Dynasty cannot withstand such turmoil.”
Shen Roujia picked up a teacup and sipped lightly. “When a great tree is about to fall, it cannot be held up by a single rope.”
She smirked. “The Bai family’s network is complex. If they really fall, their dominance will not last long.”
Gu Zhi was shocked. “You thought of this?”
Shen Roujia lazily propped her chin on her hand. “The emperor is smart. He knows this better than I do.”
She squinted as if sleepy. “If he loosens his grip slightly, many wolves will rush to gnaw at the bones.”
Gu Zhi tapped the table with her fingers. This girl was too clever, almost beyond her control.
She had always been cautious but had never shown curiosity towards anyone.
Lowering her voice, she asked, “So, why did you come to me today?”
Shen Roujia paused, then looked up at Gu Zhi. “Gu Zhi, can’t I come to you without a reason?”
Gu Zhi was taken aback by her slightly aggrieved expression. “I didn’t mean that.”
Shen Roujia sniffled. “I have no ill intentions. You don’t have to be so wary of me. Aren’t we friends?”
Gu Zhi, seemingly enchanted by her clear eyes, slowly nodded.
Shen Roujia smiled. “I need your help to find a bookstore that can print and copy things in bulk. It has to be legitimate.”
Gu Zhi frowned. “What do you want to do?”
Shen Roujia flashed her little tiger teeth and winked. “Make money.”
…
They chatted late into the night. When Shen Roujia returned, she was yawning nonstop.
Climbing over the back wall, she heard a faint meowing.
Following the sound, she found a dying kitten in an old well.
Back home, Xiao Fu frowned at the dusty Shen Roujia, wondering if her mistress had gone mining.
Shen Roujia pulled a tiny kitten from her sleeve and held it up. “Xiao Fu, can this be saved?”
Xiao Fu’s eyes widened. “Your Highness, where did you get a newborn kitten?”
Shen Roujia sighed. “I found it in the well by Beihu. Its mother was calling for help even as it died.”
Xiao Fu’s expression softened. “That’s pitiful. There’s some goat milk in the kitchen. I’ll get it for the kitten.”
