Chapter 96: Conclusion to The Night IX

Casimir stumbled back slightly, his breathing growing heavier. Despite being a vampire, an immortal being immune to fatigue and sickness, perks to being an undead.

His limbs ached, and his body felt like it was suffocating under invisible pressure. The air seemed thicker now, mostly because of how anxious he was feeling at the moment.

It was clear to him that this brat did something to him.

What he did not know.

But Adam seemed more than confident in his win; for that reason, he was not afraid to tell him that fact of life as it is.

"You are feeling it, aren’t you, something you have never felt before, right?

Adam asked with a smug look on his face as he continued speaking.

"Sudden weakness... the weight of your own mortality pressing down on you as time goes on...

"Yeahhh... I know it’s not a nice feeling, right?"

He smugly asked.

"Well, you don’t have to worry about a thing."

Said Adam, he really wanted Casrimir to pay for all the suffering he had put him through, for that reason, and that reason alone, he made extra sure to rub his words deeply in him.

And it seems, his words were getting to him indeed. Given his silent body language.

That and the fact that after his evolution, he can’t really explain it, but he can read people’s emotions. And Casimir, emotions were both anger being at the forefront, worry second, and annoyance last.

He could even sense his desire, as he wants nothing more than for Yarquella to finish some ritual, so they could get out of this place, take the precious material to the base, and move on to phase two of their plan.

Along with the intense urge to rip him to shreds.

But even then, he didn’t let up on his insults.

As such continued to speak.

"Being silent won’t change your fate, you know... From here on out, things will only get much worse for you... The longer we fight to the death, the weaker you will get as this battle drags on, you dont have much longer to live anyway."

This seemed to have finally triggered Casimir, as he finally began to talk back.

As he couldn’t believe the sheer audacity of this brat, along with his unbearable amount of arrogance.

It urks him so, just how good one so young can get under his skin like this.

Just thinking about it made Casimir clench his fists tightly, blood dribbling down his lips from behind his mask, as he bit down in frustration and muttered under his breath.

"You annoying little germ...So it is you. You’re the one doing this to me."

"Germa ha... how original?"

Adam said as he tilted his head as if looking at something hilarious and amusing before his eyes. Both arms folded, as his monstrous half-serpentine lower body writhed beneath him. And his golden, slit-pupiled eyes glowed brighter under the dim cavern light as he looked forward at the uneasy Casimir.

But his comment just made him smile even more smugly as he replied to him, stating as such.

"But you are indeed right... This germ is guilty as charged."

He grinned, causing Casimir to become even more pissed.

"But yes, it’s like I said, you’re starting to feel what it’s like to be on the receiving end, Casimir. Kind of ironic, don’t you think? A noble vampire such as yourself suddenly finding out what it’s like to be human... Aghhh, how poetic is karma, wouldn’t you agree hehehehe."

Adam laughed, his amusement increasing by the second, but it was not the same for Casimir, because the moment he heard his name come out of Adam’s mouth, his expression twitched.

"Wait...What did you just call me?"

He asked nervously. And seeing what he accidently did, replied.

"Oooops, how clumsy of me... my bad Casssssss....iiiii...mirrrr."

Adam said with vigor, dragging his pronunciation of it.

Fear coursed through Casimir being the moment he heard those words, as Adam continues to make a fool out of him.

’Shit.’

He inwardly said to himself.

As he understood what this meant.

As Adam continues to push it.

"I’ve been saying it in my head for the last ten minutes now, yah know, just waiting to drop it on you."

The silence that followed was sharper than any blade.

Slowly, Casimir reached up, fingers brushing the smooth, dual-colored porcelain mask...white on one side, black on the other. He hesitated only for a moment before removing it.

"...I guess this uncomfortable thing is meaningless then...

The face beneath was pale like moonlight, smooth as porcelain itself. Blood-red eyes glowed from deep sockets, rimmed with exhaustion and fury. His sharp cheekbones and flowing blond hair gave him a noble air, as the mask held all this in place.

He was a handsome man, youthful even...but behind those eyes was the wisdom of centuries.

Going back on a more serious note, he began to question.

"You... How the hell did you figure out who I am?"

Adam just smirked at this question as he looked at the handsome man, keeping eye contact as he replied, or rather gave a half ass answer.

"Man, video games are so cool, don’t you think?"

Adam said as he winked at Casimir, every second that exists, he will take him for his clown.

"...Sigh...why did I even bother to ask?"

Casimir’s brow twitched again, his fingers tightening around the edges of the mask until cracks split across it, and broke in his hand.

"Either way, it does not change the fact that you’ve seen my face now."

He said, his voice low and dangerous.

"You know who I am as well. That means I can’t let you leave. I won’t let any of you leave. This place will be your tomb, you arrogant peice of shit."

"...But I will admit you are strong, just as you are annoying, I will admit that whatever you are doing is indeed working, I don’t know how you are weakening me like this."

"However... it doesn’t change the fact that you will never get to see that cute little fox girl again... our leader has taken interest in her...after all, she was fated to die, but somehow managed to live."

"...So I wil be kind enough to bury you right here and now, along with that weakling of woman of woman over there."

He said as he looked at Clara, who was just watching the fight between her master and Casimir play out from afar.

And right after Casimir said all of this, a dangerous, crazed smile came on his face, as a burst of red energy erupted from his body, and the air turned violent.

The entire cavern began to quake. First, it was a subtle tremor, like something shifting beneath the earth. But within seconds, the ground screamed beneath them. Jagged crystals fell from the ceiling like stalactite missiles, and massive chunks of stone collapsed around them.

Adam watched with mild interest as Casimir rose off the ground, red psyche energy radiating from his body in thick, pulsing waves.

It was like a crimson storm ripping through the underground.

"Let’s see you survive this, Spawn!"

Casimir shouted. His voice echoed unnaturally, amplified by his psyche-enhanced telekinesis.

The entire cavern was folding in on itself, air warping from the force of Casimir’s energy. Clara, far in the distance, near the entrance from which they came, clenched her teeth as she summoned shadows around her to protect herself from the falling rocks.

Adam, on the other did not move.

Nor did he blink.

He just raised a single hand forward as a familiar-looking box came into being.

"...Yeah, nah...

He said flatly.

"I think we’re done here."

Casimir’s eyes narrowed.

"We’re done when one of us die’s you brats."

"Is that so... Ok then, remember you made the rules."

"And while you were showing off, I took my time to mark you."

"With that said, let’s play, shall we?" freeωebnovēl.c૦m

Before Casimir could react, or even ask what Aadm was talking about, the sound of lightning went off.

CRAAAAAAACKKKK!

And out of nowhere, a bolt of divine lightning engulfed Casimir, searing through the cavern ceiling as if it didn’t exist. It struck Casimir dead center, engulfing him in an explosion of radiant light. The holy golden thunder roared through the earth like a divine scream, and Casimir’s body was engulfed in a blinding storm of golden fire, causing him to screma in pain.

"AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!"

The scream was guttural, and Agonizing.

And rightfully so.

Vampires were weak to holy attacks.

But this wasn’t just any holy spell. This was a direct copy-paste of a moment in time, one in which Cecil had been nearly utterly annihilated by vampire hunters, down to the specific pain, the exact burn patterns, the very particles of soul-scorching radiance.

It was as if Adam had hit CTRL+C on that event.

And now he hit CTRL+V.

Again on Casimir.

But one time was not enough, no Adam could spam moments that the Box of worth had caught, for that reason, this fated moment that had long passed began to repay itself over, and over, again, and again.

CRACK!

BOOOOOOM!

Another bolt.

And again.

CRACK!

BOOM!

CRACK!

BOOOM!

And again...

Not letting up, not stopping, it got so bad that the only thing visible in the cavern was the endless bolt of holy lightning striking Casimir from out of nowhere.

Casimir couldn’t scream anymore. His voice gave out after the third one.

Each strike pulverized him. Each explosion turned his flesh to ash, only for his body to regenerate through sheer will...only to be instantly obliterated again. But he was under Adam’s domain of fated authority now.

Noble vampires, for sure, had more resistance to holy attacks, as just one of these almost killed Cecil in the past, and that was because he was a peasant vampire.

But even then, Casimir’s fate was not his own in this moment.

As he was forced to relive this moment on an eternal loop till he dies.

Again.

And again.

And again.

...

And then...

Silence... Finally, after being bombarded by this one attack for 5 minutes straight, Casimir’s body stopped regenerating, as his HP had finally reached zero.

Casimir’s body... or what was left of it at least... started to turn to ash as he was finally dead, well, he was already dead, but you get the point.

Adam sighed, rolling his shoulders, and turned his gaze to the cloud of ash lingering in the air.

But after his body disintegrated, Adam could see his soul as it started to float away, but before it could go anywhere, he grabbed it with his bare hands.

"Yeah, no way I’m letting you go to waste."

Adam murmured.... As he then began to raise his left hand.

An ominous magic circle formed around his palms as he began to cast this spell for the first time, as its use would be needed here.

"Dream of the Damned."

Soon after, a vortex of midnight-black light exploded outward from it, as it began to suck Casimir soul into it.

The air around Adam shimmered, warping, bending like a heat mirage, as Casimir’s soul was sealed into a nightmare world Adam had crafted using this spell, as this spell helps one create an artificial afterlife tailored to his own mind.

As it basically turns his dreams into a personal afterlife, where he can trap souls to use them later.
