He Became A Monstrous Genius After Obtaining A Time Dilation Artifact-Chapter 21. Guild War part 2
Chapter 21: Chapter 21. Guild War part 2
Zanpala University
In a research facility.
’’I know that look, what’s on your mind Arrie’’ An alluring woman with an ordinary face with disheveled black hair sat beside a white-haired girl.
’’I met someone who had the same expression I had in my eyes when you met me. He seemed pained, and the expression in his eyes, was distrustful’’ Arrie replied, a concerned expression on her face.
’’Oh, the lad you saved. The two assistant instructors from the other departments who were with you informed me about it. That’s so like you , going out of your way always to help others even when it would inconvenience you’’ The woman with the disheveled hair shook her head dejectedly.
’’I’m your adopted daughter and your disciple you know. You should be taking my side’’ Arrie pouted, igniting a chuckle from her mother who found her expression cute.
Arrie sighed helplessly at her mother’s antics then probed ’’Did they tell you about what happened during the expedition?. I told them to keep their mouths shut. Those guys...’’
’’Well they did. You were pretty much almost drained of worldly natural energy and injured from having escaped the ire of 4 A ranked monsters after almost losing your lives, yet you still went ahead and drained yourself further to heal a stranger you didn’t know’’ Arrie’s mother stopped talking, then sighed ’’Forget it, you are not gonna listen anyway, enough nagging. But you should know I’m just concerned about your safety. You know that right?’’
Arrie’s expression grew tender as she stared at her concerned mother, then she responded ’’Yes mother. And thank you for sending us the private jet, otherwise, we would have probably not survived. ’’
’’No worries my dear, no worries. Your colleagues told me that after you healed the young man, you were so weak that they had to argue with you to leave him behind’’
’’Yes, we were all pretty much vulnerable physically at the time. Staying in the wilderness further would have proved dangerous since in case we encountered any diabolic beasts, we would have had no way to defend ourselves... I reluctantly had to leave the gentleman behind . I couldn’t be selfish and endanger my team after all’’ Arrie responded, however a trace of guilt was visible in her eyes.
’’Child, there’s no need to feel guilty from leaving him behind. Your teammates reiterated that you also had to leave the cave high up in the mountains you were resting because they also spotted a bunch of powerful aerial diabolic beasts approaching the cave that would have made leaving the cave impossible had they drew nearer.
Plus, carrying an unconscious and injured person along would have slowed you guys down and posed more risk to you, considering the dangerous situation you and your teammates were already in. Besides, you met him again, and he was alive and doing fine right?’’ Arrie’s mother tried to ease her daughter’s guilt
Arrie sighed thoughtfully ’’I know that mother . Thank you, at least that eases my guilt. You know I’m the kind who will never hesitate to offer a helping hand to someone injured no matter the situation. It doesn’t change the fact that I left him behind in the cave. What if he had died?’’
’’Say, have you taken a liking to the young man?’’ Arrie’s mother teased, as she covered her mouth with the stained sleeve of her lab coat, squeezing a giggle, an annoying one at that.
’’Mother!.... You! .. You know that’s how I am. I cannot stand the sight of the injured suffering, let alone leaving them behind... You.. How could such a charitable researcher and dignified awakener have such filthy thoughts’’ Arrie sighed helplessly, further earning herself another episode of robust laughter from her mother.
Her mother finally settled down, then spoke in a serious, yet soft manner "Arrie, you mentioned something about him having a distrustful expression when you met him the second time?’’
’’Yeah, he asked me why I saved him, funny right?. ’’ Arrie chuckled.
’’I remember you asked me the same question on the day we first met’’ Arrie’s mother responded, as she waited for her daughter’s next words.
’’Yeah, I told him I saved him because I am a healer, and I cannot just watch someone die. However, his reaction to what I said was extremely distrustful, callous and demeaning’’
’’He made you feel like you were talking trash, and also more like you were trying to make up an excuse for your actual intentions? As though you did it because you wanted something from him?’’ Arrie’s mother responded.
’’Yeah... I made you feel the same way on the first day we met, didn’t I?’’ Arrie shook her head helplessly, her gaze unfolding memories of that day. She was brought back to the present a second later however, by her mother’s next statement.
’’Yeah, you did’’ Arrie’s mother chuckled, as she ruffled her chemical stained hands through her daughter’s hair.
Arrie would have usually complained about her mother’s habit of messing with her hair, however she didn’t this time, as her mind drifted elsewhere. She had finally figured out why she felt like she had a lot in common with the gentleman she had met.
It turned out the same way she had behaved when her mother offered her a helping hand out of her hurting past, was the same way the gentleman she had met, had acted towards her. Perhaps, he had a similar past, compared to hers.
’’I really hope I can see him again, perhaps maybe, just like you helped me heal, I can help him’’ Arrie spoke softly, then embraced her mother.
’’I hope so too, my child. Since you gave him a recommendation to attend the University, there’s a chance you may meet him again’’
Two women hugged, a daughter in a mother’s embrace.
However, a knock on the door of the lab , accompanied with a male voice suddenly interrupted their moment.
’’Dr Helina Hall, the researchers from overseas have arrived. We are ready to begin the exchange event’’ fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm
’’Alright, will be there soon. Stall them for a while’’
’’Very well’’ The man responded, his footsteps tracing further away.
’’Time to go child. Kindly get some rest. You are tired from your journey. You can join the exchange event when you’ve had enough rest’’
’’Mm’’ Arrie nodded, watching her mother’s back as she left.
’’Perhaps, mother is right... I may meet him again’’ She sighed, yet hopeful, then left the laboratory.

Kailen walked through the streets of the locality, draped in his hoodie and jeans.
He decided to opt for a casual stroll towards his destination. He wanted to know if some lunatic from some guild would tail him, therefore he had opted for this mode of transportation.
Shadow manipulation had been activated giving him a hold of his vicinity. The range of sensing shadows had increased further with his increase in ranks , helping him to have a broader view of the shadows of individuals as he walked.
’’As expected of people’’ Kailen sensed the shadow of someone about to assault another fellow in an alleyway. He decided to ignore it and head his way. He was not some superhero. All that mattered to him were his goals.
That was when he heard the screams of someone, the voice seemed to belong to a little girl ’’ Help, someone help me, they want to kidnap me... Help..’’
’’Shut up, you rascal... Keep your tiny mouth shut and we will just do this nice and slowly’’ A cold menacing female voice, followed the little girl’s screams.
’’A Deranged awakener. Would have kept to myself and just minded my business, but since a little helpless girl who knows nothing of the world’s cruelty is involved, even I have a conscience, I guess I have to be nosy a little’’
