How to Have a Baby Secretly-Chapter 23
“What is it?”
Kang Jinwook frowned as the doorbell interrupted him, his displeasure evident as he glanced toward the front door.
“Were you expecting someone?”
Who could it be?
“Oh!”
Sunwoo suddenly remembered who it was and leapt to his feet. Someone was indeed supposed to come at this hour.
Hurrying out of the kitchen, Sunwoo checked the intercom screen. As expected, a young man wearing a cap with the faded words "Hyundai Resources" stood outside, staring at the camera.
Recognizing the name of the waste disposal company he had called the day before, Sunwoo quickly opened the door.
“Hello, we’re from Hyundai Resources. You asked us to come at 9 a.m., so we’re here right on time!”
That’s right. Sunwoo had told them to come without checking in beforehand since he’d planned to be awake and wanted to get things done as quickly as possible.
“...”
The problem was, Sunwoo wasn’t alone in the house. The most inconvenient person possible was here with him.
“Can I come in?”
“Who is it?”
As the employee smiled politely, a cold voice sounded from behind Sunwoo.
“And what is this now?”
Jinwook strode toward the front door, his sharp gaze landing on the employee. He didn’t look like a guest, and Jinwook immediately grabbed Sunwoo’s arm, pulling him behind him.
“Hey—”
Sunwoo stumbled back, taken aback by Jinwook’s sudden move. The Alpha’s pheromones, which had been faint before, were now stronger and more threatening.
“Executive Director! Please, hold on!”
Sunwoo didn’t know the worker’s designation, but there was no way he wouldn’t feel the oppressive weight of Jinwook’s dominant Alpha pheromones. Grabbing Jinwook’s sleeve, Sunwoo quickly interjected.
“I called them.”

“You called them?”
Jinwook looked at Sunwoo and the employee, his expression puzzled. Sunwoo fidgeted in Jinwook’s grip before replying.
“I hired them to clear out some things in the house.”
That was the plan, after all. But why did Jinwook have to show up? Everything had seemed to be going smoothly yesterday—until, once again, Jinwook’s presence disrupted everything.
“What are you clearing out?”
“Furniture and unused items.”
“Why furniture? Why now?”
Why is he being so dense? We talked about this yesterday! Sunwoo looked at Jinwook with exasperation before answering.
“Because I’m moving out, obviously.”
“Oh…”
Understanding dawned on Jinwook’s face, and he nodded. He then stepped aside, gesturing for the worker to proceed.
“Get it done as quickly as possible,” he ordered.
The employee, who had been glancing nervously between Sunwoo and Jinwook, breathed a sigh of relief. At first, he’d thought this might be an argument between an Alpha and Omega couple, but that didn’t seem to be the case. Maybe it was pre-wedding squabbling?
Curious about their relationship, the employee wisely decided to keep his thoughts to himself and called his team to come up.
Jinwook stood stiffly in the middle of the living room, while Sunwoo struggled to hide his growing unease.
Sunwoo’s plan was simple: finish clearing out the apartment and leave for Jeju. But with Jinwook standing there like an immovable statue, that plan seemed increasingly out of reach.
How am I supposed to get rid of him?
While Sunwoo racked his brain for a solution, three workers entered the apartment, all wearing caps labeled "Hyundai Resources."
“You mentioned yesterday that you wanted all the furniture and household items removed, correct?”
The employee who had rung the bell surveyed the room as he spoke. Sunwoo nodded immediately.
“Yes… Please clear everything out.”
“Understood! We’ll contact you once we’re finished.”
It was a polite way of asking them to leave so the team could work undisturbed. Jinwook seemed to understand, as he grabbed Sunwoo’s arm.
“Come with me.”
“Wait! Just a second! Can you hold off for ten minutes?”
Before Jinwook could pull him away, Sunwoo twisted free and dashed to the dressing room. Jinwook and the workers watched as he hurried off.
He had suddenly remembered that he hadn’t packed properly after Jinwook’s unexpected arrival. Whether he escaped to Jeju or somewhere else, he needed to have his belongings in order.
Grabbing items seemingly at random, Sunwoo managed to efficiently pack a suitcase with essentials, prioritizing expensive items that couldn’t be discarded. When he emerged, he was dragging two massive 40-inch suitcases, one in each hand.
“What are those?”
Jinwook looked at the suitcases with a mixture of disbelief and amusement. The workers had similar expressions.
“They’re my things. Everything else can be cleared out.”
Sunwoo replied curtly, giving instructions to the workers before striding toward the front door. But before he could make it out, Jinwook grabbed one of the suitcase handles.
“Ah—!”
“Give it here.”
With ease, Jinwook snatched both suitcases from Sunwoo’s grasp and walked out the door.
Stunned, Sunwoo quickly followed him. Jinwook, with his long strides, was already heading into the elevator.
Sunwoo pressed the button for the first floor, but Jinwook immediately canceled it and pressed the button for B1—the basement level.
“What’s the meaning of this?”
Sunwoo furrowed his brow deeply, glaring at Kang Jinwook.
“What’s what?”
“I’m heading to the café on the first floor—why do you keep canceling it?”
“We’re going to my house.”
“What? Why would I go there?”
Jinwook said it so matter-of-factly, leaving Sunwoo staring at him in disbelief.
“From now on, you’ll be my personal secretary.”
What did he just say?
“Personal secretary?”
Sunwoo echoed Jinwook’s words, dumbfounded. Isn’t that Secretary Gwak’s job? Why was he being told to do it?
Sunwoo was an office secretary, responsible for managing documents, organizing receipts, and gathering information Jinwook needed—strictly office work. A personal secretary, on the other hand, followed Jinwook around like a shadow, tending to every little task. Why would Jinwook suddenly assign him that role?
“You’ll assist Secretary Gwak and follow me everywhere,” Jinwook said.
“Me? Why? How would I even do that?”
Sunwoo recoiled at the thought of shadowing Jinwook all day. He wanted no part of it.
“I’m not asking for much. Just stay within my sight.”
“And why exactly should I?”
Jinwook didn’t say it aloud, but his reason was simple: he didn’t want to see Sunwoo fainting, vomiting, or collapsing in random places. Keeping Sunwoo under constant watch seemed like the best solution, and having him act as a personal secretary made the most sense.
He could have just let Sunwoo rest at home, but leaving him out of sight made Jinwook feel strangely uneasy.
Instead of explaining this, Jinwook scowled.
“Stop arguing and just do it.”
“What do you mean, just do it? Why are you always so pushy?”
Sunwoo glared at Jinwook, his irritation bubbling to the surface. Does he really think he can just treat people like this?
Up until now, Sunwoo had tried to tread carefully, worried about triggering Jinwook’s infamous temper. But if this kept up, he’d be stuck under Jinwook’s thumb forever. That was something Sunwoo refused to accept.
“Then go to the hospital,” Jinwook said suddenly, taking the conversation in an unexpected direction.
“What? Why the hospital?”
“Because I don’t believe you.”
“Don’t believe me about what?”
“Whether it’s really a stomach ulcer.”
“Oh, come on! I told you, it’s a stomach ulcer! A stomach ulcer!”
Sunwoo shouted, emphasizing his point, but the effort made pain flare up in his abdomen. He clutched his stomach with both arms, wincing.
“What’s wrong? Does your stomach hurt again?”
Jinwook’s expression hardened, and his voice turned sharp.
“Yes, so stop stressing me out! It’s all because of you!”
“What?” Jinwook’s brows shot up in disbelief. “How is this my fault?”
“The cause of stomach ulcers! Stress! Overwork! Ever heard of it?”
“And?”
“If you don’t know that, who would?”
Forgetting entirely about keeping his composure, Sunwoo yelled at Jinwook again. Jinwook’s stunned expression showed he wasn’t used to this kind of outburst. He blinked, processing Sunwoo’s words.
“You’re saying you’re stressed because of me?”
What’s with that clueless face? Sunwoo glanced at Jinwook, his lips pouting in frustration.
“You made me work overtime on purpose! Never gave me proper tasks, just weird errands! All of that—that was you! And now you’re pretending not to know…!”
Forgetting his act of feigned amnesia, Sunwoo launched into a tirade. Neither he nor Jinwook noticed the slip.
Ding-dong.
The cheerful chime of the elevator broke their heated exchange.
“B1 level. Doors opening,” announced the automated voice as the doors slid open.
Their argument paused as they turned to watch the doors part. The air between them hung thick with unresolved tension.
