How to Have a Baby Secretly-Chapter 55
Sunwoo clicked his tongue, placed his phone down, and opened the drink bottle, bringing it to his nose. There was a faint scent of soybeans.
It was probably soy milk. Thankfully, there was no unpleasant smell, so Sunwoo decided to take a sip.
“Ah, it’s good.”
It was mild, nutty, and subtly sweet, probably due to added sugar or honey.
Sunwoo drank the soy milk down in one go, savoring it.
“I should’ve tried this sooner!”
Finishing half of it in one go, Sunwoo set the glass bottle down, licking his lips. He had been eating tofu diligently, but now he regretted not thinking of soy milk earlier.
He then poked at the salad with his fork and brought a bite to his mouth. The lettuce, with its faint fragrance, and the peach salad he had been enjoying recently were sweet and crisp, making it delicious. His eyes shifted to the sandwich that was made to be easy to eat.
“It’s not egg, is it?”
The slightly yellow color made him worry it might taste off. Sunwoo took a deep breath, exhaled, and nervously brought the sandwich to his nose.
“Oh... it’s fine.”
There was no unpleasant eggy smell, so it passed the test. He took a bite, and the sweet taste spread in his mouth. After eating without much thought, Sunwoo looked down at the empty lunchbox with a satisfied smile and gently rubbed his stomach.
“Little bean, did you eat well too?”
Feeling content after a full meal, Sunwoo smiled faintly as he spoke to the baby inside him.
Of course, it was impossible for the tiny fetus to hear him. As he rubbed his belly, he felt like his body was starting to relax and stretch.
“Yawn…”
He definitely felt like he had just slept a lot, so why was he still so sleepy? With that thought in mind, Sunwoo slowly laid back on the sofa in the living room. Sleep soon took over him.
Ding-dong.
Just as he was about to drift off, the sound of a phone notification rang in his ears. He knew he should check who it was, but his body, heavy with sleep, made it difficult to move.
Sunwoo’s consciousness quickly sank into sleep. Soon, his face relaxed, and his breathing became even.
Ding-dong, ding-dong. The notifications kept coming, but Sunwoo remained oblivious, with only pop-up messages appearing on the screen.
[Choi Sunwoo! Hey! Are you alive? Are you okay?]
[We’re on a plane back now! Director Kang gave us special instructions. You probably didn’t know because you passed out yesterday.]
[Haewon’s staying at the hotel to recover from her heat cycle. I remember seeing her and you, but after that, I have no memory at all. Did you hear anything from Director Kang?]
[What’s going on? You’re not reading these. Hey! When you see the messages, contact me!]
The desperate messages were not received by the sleeping Sunwoo.
Secretary Gwak glanced at Kang Jinwook through the rearview mirror. The car wasn’t moving because Kang Jinwook had not given any instructions.
What’s going on?
Secretary Gwak studied Kang Jinwook’s expression again, but there didn’t seem to be any major change. He recalled what had happened yesterday.
Despite the late hour, Kang Jinwook had gone to Jeju to meet Sunwoo. There, he had saved Sunwoo, who was caught in a fight with thugs and had to deal with the Omega in heat, Im Haewon.
Im Haewon, who worked in the overseas business department at Taesung Construction, was being treated by an Omega specialist when Kang Jinwook received the call to return to Seoul.
When he met up with Secretary Gwak at the airport, Kang Jinwook had looked deep in thought.
Something had definitely happened between Sunwoo and Kang Jinwook while he was away, but when Secretary Gwak asked the guards, they had said nothing unusual had happened.
Kang Jinwook had brought the unconscious Sunwoo back home and left shortly after. He hadn’t called a doctor or given any instructions, then returned to Seoul.
“Director.”
Secretary Gwak cautiously called out to Kang Jinwook.
“Did you find out what the doctor and Sunwoo talked about when he visited the hospital last time?”
Finally, Kang Jinwook spoke. But instead of giving an order, he asked a question.
“Yes, it was just a basic check-up on his health.”
“Anything unusual?”
“No, nothing special.”
“Any other treatments that day?”
“No.”
As Kang Jinwook asked each question, Secretary Gwak answered immediately, prepared with the information.
“Are you sure?”
Kang Jinwook’s eyes, which had been focused elsewhere, suddenly locked onto Secretary Gwak’s eyes through the rearview mirror.
“I’ll look into it.”
Secretary Gwak swallowed nervously. Kang Jinwook’s expression had darkened. Though the reason was unclear, it was evident that Sunwoo was involved in this situation.
“Let’s go.”
Finally, Kang Jinwook gave the order. The car, which had been stationary, started moving.
When Kang Jinwook returned to the office after the morning meeting, he quickly went through the pile of papers that had accumulated while he was away.
Then, the doorbell rang. Kang Jinwook immediately looked up and checked the caller ID. Upon seeing Secretary Gwak’s name, he answered the phone.
“Speak.”
The moment Secretary Gwak shared the information, Kang Jinwook’s eyes gleamed with intense focus, but he quickly returned to his usual demeanor.
After finishing the call with Secretary Gwak, Kang Jinwook went back to his work. He reviewed reports, approved documents, and checked for any necessary instructions.
When lunch approached and he received a message from Sunwoo, he casually replied, indicating he would come by later.
Having skipped lunch, Kang Jinwook quickly finished his tasks. When Secretary Gwak returned, he gathered his things and stood up.
“To the hospital.”
Sunwoo blinked, his mind cloudy. He saw the wooden table legs in front of him. Why was this here?
Confused, Sunwoo blinked and then realized he must have fallen asleep on the sofa right after eating.

“Huh…”
He straightened his body and looked up at the ceiling. He rubbed his stomach as he muttered to himself.
“I’ve been through a lot lately. But eating and then just passing out like this isn’t right. You think so too, right?”
What if everything I ate just turns into fat? Then I’ll have to roll around, won’t I? Sunwoo thought, feeling useless, as he absently spoke to the baby in his belly.
He casually touched his phone and was startled when he saw the screen.
It had been over three hours since he had eaten.
“Wow, I slept a lot.”
Whether by his own will or not, Sunwoo had never slept more than five hours in one go. But after eating, he had just collapsed and slept like this.
He scratched his head and looked at the messaging app that had been open on his phone. A lot of messages had accumulated during his nap.
All of them were from Kim Tae-yeol. There were more than 10 messages.
“What’s this? Not even a stalker.”
He stared at the messages in disbelief, then remembered the events from yesterday. He hadn’t checked how things had gone with Kang Jinwook after waking up.
Sunwoo decided not to read Kim Tae-yeol’s messages and dialed his number instead. He could figure out the details while on the call.
Hey! Choi Sunwoo!
As soon as the call connected, Kim Tae-yeol’s voice blasted through the phone. Sunwoo frowned and held the phone away from his ear.
His loud voice made his ears ring.
Where are you right now? And why haven’t you been answering? Why are you only calling now?
Kim Tae-yeol blurted out words like a rap. Sunwoo waited for him to finish speaking.
Hello? What’s going on? It’s not disconnected! Hey! Choi Sunwoo!
Kim Tae-yeol finally noticed Sunwoo’s silence and called his name.
“Yeah.”
Yeah, yeah... What? You’re answering with “yeah” now?
Kim Tae-yeol seemed to be about to speak again but took a deep breath before continuing.
“Im Haewon? You said she’s at the hotel because of her heat cycle.”
Sunwoo spoke first.
Oh, Haewon? Yeah, she’ll stay there for a few more days. Since it’s dangerous during her heat cycle, she’ll come back when she’s stable.
“Didn’t you meet Im Haewon before you left Jeju?”
Sunwoo asked. Based on what Kim Tae-yeol had said, it seemed like he had only contacted her, but hadn’t met her in person.
Meet her? Well… actually, after I regained consciousness, I found out Haewon had been looking for me. Secretary Gwak got in touch with me.
“After you regained consciousness?”
Oh, heh… actually, I reacted a bit to Haewon’s pheromones. You know how Omega pheromones during heat are kind of alluring, right? Without realizing it, I tried to approach her, but then Director Kang released his Alpha pheromones. Bam! I totally blacked out in one hit.
“Ah...!”
That’s why Sunwoo had passed out. He remembered the suffocating sensation from Kang Jinwook’s pheromones, which had made him dizzy and his vision go black.
The intensity of Kang Jinwook’s pheromones had been unlike anything he had felt before.
I passed out too. When I came to, everything had already been sorted. Haewon was getting treated in a room by a doctor, and we were preparing for the morning flight back.
“Ah…”
So, after all, the reason Kang Jinwook wasn’t there when he woke up was that he had been taking care of Haewon at the hotel and then instructed Secretary Gwak before heading back to Seoul.
In the original story, the events in Jeju had led to a closer relationship between them. After all, accidents and incidents often deepen connections between people.
Sunwoo imagined how Kang Jinwook and Im Haewon might have seen each other differently and felt a strange pang in his chest.
“What’s going on?”
Why was he feeling this way? Sunwoo absentmindedly rubbed his stomach, trying to push away the bitter feeling.
It wasn’t just because he had fallen asleep after eating, but he knew that wasn’t the real reason.
He thought Kang Jinwook must have brought him home, but perhaps that wasn’t the case.
After all, Im Haewon was the main Omega, so Kang Jinwook probably had no time to think about him.
Sunwoo tried to push away the bitter thoughts as he gently rubbed his stomach.
You know, it seems like Director Kang has better manners than I thought. He helps his staff when things get tough, right?
Well, maybe it was because of Im Haewon. Sunwoo didn’t say it out loud, but he decided to end the call.
“Yeah. Anyway, thanks for everything. See you next time.”
When are you coming back to Seoul?
“I don’t know.”
He would decide when Kang Jinwook came. But right now, he didn’t want to think about it. His mind was too complicated.
So you’re really planning to live there?
“I don’t know.”
Sunwoo repeated, like a parrot, and hung up the phone. After just a few minutes of conversation, he felt drained and collapsed back onto the sofa.
Kang Jinwook had said he was coming to meet him. Sunwoo had heard that. But... now, he wasn’t so sure if it was true.
