How to Have a Baby Secretly-Chapter 68
After sending Kang Jinwook off, Sunwoo hesitated for a while, but eventually, he found himself leaving the house once again. It was already too late.
It seemed that Kang Jinwook hadn’t brought his car. This area, being a residential neighborhood, became quiet after dark, and the buses had already stopped running. Was there a flight at the airport?
Once that thought crossed his mind, he realized he couldn’t just let him go. He could at least let him stay for one night. After all, he had stayed in that house himself.
Swallowing even such a flimsy excuse, Sunwoo quickly crossed the yard and reached the front gate.
But there was no sign of Kang Jinwook anywhere. It hadn't been more than a few minutes—had he already gone somewhere else? Or did he bring a car? No, he had come by taxi earlier, hadn’t he?
As Sunwoo was thinking this and scanning the alley of the neighborhood, he suddenly heard some sounds from somewhere.
"Kang Jinwook?"
Was he smoking a cigarette somewhere? But Kang Jinwook didn’t seem like someone who smoked. Sunwoo tilted his head and walked toward the source of the sound.
"Woof!"
Out of nowhere, a dog started barking.
"Huh?"
A mutt appeared from a dark alley, wagging its tail lazily. It was a small dog, about the size of Sunwoo’s ankle.
"What? Was it you?"
Sunwoo crouched down and gently petted the dog's head, looking around. There were no other signs of life. It seemed that this little creature was the one making the noise.
As Sunwoo sent the dog away and took another step, Kang Jinwook tossed the unconscious man’s body aside as if throwing away trash and straightened up.
Luckily, there was no sign of anyone approaching. Kang Jinwook bent down again, picked up the camera that had fallen on the ground, and took out the memory card. Then, without hesitation, he smashed the camera to pieces. The whole sequence of movements was quick and efficient, without any unnecessary motions.
"Choi Sunwoo."
Having quickly wrapped things up, Kang Jinwook approached Sunwoo, who was walking around the neighborhood.
"Huh? Why are you here?"
Sunwoo turned at the sound of his name being called, only to be surprised when he saw Kang Jinwook. This wasn’t the direction toward the city center.
"I took the wrong street."
Kang Jinwook walked toward Sunwoo with a calm expression, as if he had completely forgotten about what had just happened with the wall.
"Oh, really?"
It could happen at night, especially in a neighborhood that wasn’t too complicated. The streetlights were dim, and it wasn’t a familiar road. Sunwoo nodded without suspicion.
"But why did you come out?"
Kang Jinwook stepped closer to Sunwoo and asked.
"Uh… well… the buses stopped running, and it's hard to catch a taxi at this hour."
Sunwoo felt awkward despite coming all this way to find Kang Jinwook. But now that he had come, he had to say something. Taking a deep breath, Sunwoo spoke quickly.
"I’ll let you stay the night."
Before Kang Jinwook could respond, Sunwoo turned around hastily. He wasn’t even thinking about whether Kang Jinwook was following him or not.
The sound of footsteps behind him assured him that Kang Jinwook wasn’t going anywhere else.
As expected, Kang Jinwook quietly followed behind him. Sure, it would be difficult to catch a taxi at this hour.
But if they went to the beach, there were plenty of places to stay. There were several hotels, resorts, and pensions, starting with the one Sunwoo had visited before.
However, Kang Jinwook didn’t mention any of that. Since Sunwoo was offering him a place to stay, there was no need to bring up alternatives.
"Sorry, but you’ll sleep here."
As soon as Kang Jinwook stepped inside, Sunwoo awkwardly smiled and pointed to the living room. The bedroom had only a bed, and the room was so small that there wasn’t space for anyone else to lie down.
It would be awkward to ask him to sleep in the living room after offering a place to stay, but they couldn’t sleep in the same room, could they?
Sunwoo let out a small sigh as he saw Kang Jinwook nodding without any unusual expression.
"The bathroom’s that way. Go wash up. I’ll bring you something to wear."
Saying that, Sunwoo rushed into his room. He heard the door slide open and then shut with a loud thud.
The sound of running water followed, so it seemed like Kang Jinwook was washing up. Sunwoo then realized how much he had been straining his ears.
"Crazy, crazy."
Sunwoo cupped his face in his hands. He didn’t realize that his ears were turning red. He fanned himself with his hand and glanced through the closet.
"I wonder if there’s anything I can give Kang Jinwook to wear."
He had packed light when coming to Jeju, so there weren’t many clothes.
"Ah, this."
Sunwoo paused as his eyes caught a gift from a realtor he had met while coming from the market—a pair of pants with a bright floral pattern. He had been told they were comfortable, but he hadn’t been able to bring himself to wear them, so he had just left them there, forgotten.
Maybe they belonged to someone else. As he looked at the pants, the corner of his mouth lifted in an unintended smirk, but he wasn’t aware of it. Even if he had known, he would have ignored it.
Taking the most spacious T-shirt he could find and the floral pants, along with a knee blanket to use instead of a blanket, Sunwoo headed out of the bedroom.
Just as he did, the bathroom door opened, and with a cloud of steam, Kang Jinwook emerged.
"Ah!"
Startled by the shocking appearance, Sunwoo stopped in his tracks and swallowed nervously. Kang Jinwook was standing there with his shirt off, wearing only pants.
The sight of his well-toned muscles, tightly bound without any excess fat, immediately grabbed Sunwoo’s attention. No, that’s not it!
"Hey, hey, you!"
Unlike Sunwoo, who was flustered, Kang Jinwook casually dried his wet hair with a towel and walked out nonchalantly. It wasn’t like he was completely undressed—just his upper body was visible—but Sunwoo couldn’t understand why his face was turning so red.
He couldn’t bring himself to look at that and quickly handed the clothes he was holding over. He tried his best to ignore the trembling of his hands.
"Put these on, hurry."
Kang Jinwook looked down at the clothes in front of him and silently took them. Without a word, he went back into the bathroom. Sunwoo let out a quiet sigh and placed the knee blanket on the couch.
He had brought Kang Jinwook over without thinking, but now he realized that not only did he not have extra clothes, but there wasn’t even a spare blanket. And he couldn’t exactly give him the one he was using.
Sunwoo scratched his head and regretted bringing Kang Jinwook over without any real plan. Meanwhile, Kang Jinwook, now changed, came out.
"Pfft!"
Seeing Kang Jinwook’s outfit, Sunwoo quickly clamped his mouth shut. But he couldn’t stop the laughter from escaping.
The T-shirt, which had seemed big to Sunwoo, fit Kang Jinwook perfectly. And with the floral pants, which were loose and wobbly, it...
"Uh, hehe, uh... sorry."
He tried to say something, but he was still laughing. Sunwoo fought to suppress his laughter.
Meanwhile, Kang Jinwook walked to the couch without any change in expression.
"I didn’t think about it, but there’s no blanket. Sorry, just use this."
Sunwoo, finally controlling his laughter, pointed to the knee blanket on the couch.
"It’s fine. This is enough."
Kang Jinwook barely glanced at it and nodded. It was late summer, after all. A blanket wasn’t necessary, and a knee blanket was perfectly fine.
"Go rest."
"Uh... you too. You must be tired. See you tomorrow."
Seeing Kang Jinwook lie down on the couch with a cushion as a pillow, Sunwoo turned around. Just like the pants earlier, the knee blanket seemed too short for Kang Jinwook, and his ankles stuck out. But that was...
‘Ah, so cute.’
It was more cute than funny. Sunwoo tried to shake off his thoughts and went into the bedroom. As he climbed into bed, he noticed the ultrasound photo he had taped under the window.
"How’s it going, little bean?"
Your other dad. Don’t you think he’s a bit cute today? Sunwoo gently rubbed his red ears and lay down.
Maybe it was just his imagination, but he thought he could hear Kang Jinwook’s breathing from the living room. It was more the sound of the waves coming from outside the window.
Sleep came slowly, carried on the waves, and soon dragged Sunwoo into slumber.
Meanwhile, Kang Jinwook, who had been lying in the dark, quietly sat up. Through the slightly open bedroom door, Sunwoo’s even breathing could be heard.
Kang Jinwook quickly took out his phone and started tapping the keypad. Despite the late hour, a reply came through almost immediately.
[I’ll handle it right away.]
After reading the message, Kang Jinwook’s eyes darkened.
Sunwoo’s eyes shot open. Reaching for his phone beside his pillow, he checked the time. It wasn’t even 8 a.m. yet.
‘I usually wake up later than this.’
Sunwoo muttered to himself, straining his ears. Since he had left the bedroom door slightly open, he expected to hear any movements from outside, but everything was quiet.
Either Kang Jinwook hadn’t woken up yet, or he had left while Sunwoo was still asleep.
Sunwoo peeked outside the bedroom. Due to the angle, he couldn’t see the couch. What should he do? After a moment of thought, he held his phone in one hand and got out of bed.
He tiptoed quietly, lifting his heels to avoid making any noise, and snuck out of the bedroom.

"What’s this?"
There was no one on the couch. The knee blanket that Kang Jinwook had used the night before was neatly folded. Even the T-shirt and floral pants Sunwoo had given him were folded beside it.
Had he left while Sunwoo was asleep?
"Should’ve left a message."
Scratching his head, Sunwoo glanced around the small house. But there was no sign of Kang Jinwook anywhere. His steps naturally led him outside.
And there, between the walls, he saw Kang Jinwook’s tall figure, looking out at the sea.
"Kang Jinwook?"
When Sunwoo called his name, Kang Jinwook turned around. The morning sunlight seemed to scatter behind him. The wind from the sea tousled his hair.
"...!"
Sunwoo’s eyes widened. He could feel his heart pounding in his chest. At the same time, heat seemed to spread from his ears to his cheeks.
