How to Have a Baby Secretly-Chapter 73
The soft, elegant music played in the restaurant. Im Haewon, looking a bit nervous, was guided to a table by a staff member.
His meeting partner wasn't in sight. Im Haewon simply shrugged. The one who had invited him here was the head of the overseas business department. Unlike Im Haewon, who had left work immediately, the department head was probably busy dealing with some tasks and would be late.
"But why did the department head call me separately?"
Im Haewon tilted his head in confusion. It had been just before he was about to leave for the day. Then suddenly, the internal phone rang, and to his surprise, it was the department head, a distant superior.
The department head had said there was an important matter and suggested they meet at the G Hotel restaurant. Im Haewon had wondered what was so important that it needed to be discussed there, but he quietly replied that he understood.
"Excuse me."
Im Haewon, lost in thought, was startled when a sudden voice called out. The server, holding a silver water pitcher and smiling, was standing there.
"Oh, yes."
Feeling like he'd shown his nerves too much, Im Haewon awkwardly smiled.
"You're already here."
A light, casual voice came from somewhere. Thinking that it wasn’t directed at him, Im Haewon was still watching the water being poured into his glass when he noticed the chair across from him being pulled back, and a strange man sitting down. The man was in his mid-thirties, with a face that looked somewhat arrogant, irritable, and stubborn—a face Im Haewon had seen from a distance. He recognized him as Kang Jin-tae, the eldest son of the Taesung Group, the Vice President.
‘What’s he doing here...?’
Im Haewon looked confused. It was completely unexpected for this person to appear.
Kang Jin-tae smiled as he looked at Im Haewon. As expected, even in photos, his looks were striking.
No, in fact, he was even more attractive in person. He was subtly emitting pheromones, a sweet scent that seemed to captivate those around him.
Indeed, a dominant one was a dominant one.
It felt almost like a waste that this was being given to Kang Jinwook. He almost regretted it. Since they were already at a hotel, Kang Jin-tae could easily take Im Haewon upstairs to a room.
"Tsk."
Kang Jin-tae clicked his tongue with a hint of regret. This half-baked one was a better fit for him than for Kang Jinwook. Already in his sixth year of marriage with a wife and a child, Kang Jin-tae was thinking of such things without hesitation.
"Ah, don't be surprised. I called you here," Kang Jin-tae said, his words light and lacking any respect.
"The department head did?"
"Yeah."
Kang Jin-tae answered briefly, then called over a server to bring the food. Despite not even looking at the menu, the server nodded and quickly left.
"Why did you call me here...?"
Im Haewon, who had taken a sip of water, finally asked. He had thought he was meeting with the department head, but now, an unexpected person had shown up.
And that person was staring at him quite blatantly, which made Im Haewon wonder what the intention was behind this invitation.
"Ah, don’t be nervous."
It was as if Kang Jin-tae had read Im Haewon’s thoughts. He said with a smile, still maintaining his arrogant expression.
"I called you here because I’m personally curious about something."
"Curious about something?"
Im Haewon looked at him with confusion. After all, Kang Jin-tae had no connection to Taesung Construction.
What could a mere employee like him possibly be curious about? And on top of that, calling him here for personal curiosity made even less sense.
"Are you an Omega?"
The sudden question made Im Haewon freeze for a moment.
"Why are you asking me that all of a sudden?"
"I thought you were a dominant Omega."
"Vice President Kang..."
Kang Jin-tae asked about his genetic traits. Regardless of his intention, it didn't sit well with Im Haewon. His gaze toward Kang Jin-tae grew firmer.
"You don’t have to be so tense. I just called you for personal business."
Earlier, Kang Jin-tae had said he was curious, but now he was claiming it was personal business. Im Haewon’s body tensed up slightly.
"I heard you have some connection to Kang Jinwook."
But then the next question stopped him in his tracks.

"With Vice President Kang Jinwook and me?"
His eyes wavered slightly, and his expression shifted just a bit. He didn’t notice that he was subconsciously biting his inner cheek.
"I heard there was an incident in Jeju recently. You were caught up in a dangerous situation due to your heat cycle, and Kang Jinwook saved you. That’s quite a significant connection, don’t you think?"
"Ah, yes."
Kang Jin-tae’s choice of words was uncomfortable. When he said it, it made even the smallest thing sound like a major event.
Earlier, he had made Im Haewon tense by mentioning curiosity and personal business, and now, he was talking about Jeju, making it sound like something much more serious.
"Kang Jinwook seemed to really take care of you. From that, it seems like you two aren't just on ordinary terms, right?"
"No, that’s not it."
Im Haewon quickly shook his head. It wasn’t like that at all. Of course, Kang Jinwook was special to him, but...
At first, it had just been small interest. He had wondered who the young, capable Vice President was when he joined the company the same year. When he saw him in person, he was so handsome that it made his heart flutter.
Since then, Im Haewon had developed a liking for him, and over time, it had turned into a romantic feeling. So, Im Haewon had tried to carefully approach him.
He hadn’t hidden the fact that he was a dominant Omega, but he had worked hard to not let Kang Jinwook know that he had feelings for him.
"Really? It seems like you’re thinking differently though. Don’t you have some interest in Kang Jinwook?"
Kang Jin-tae asked teasingly, and Im Haewon clenched his teeth again. Kang Jin-tae smiled faintly as he watched him. It was a question thrown out just to see, but it was surprisingly effective.
"Excuse me."
At that moment, the server arrived and spoke to them. As food was being served on the table, Im Haewon maintained a stiff expression.
"I’ll help you."
After the server left, Kang Jin-tae said, as if waiting for this moment. Im Haewon, who had been pretending to nonchalantly pick up his fork, froze.
"You’ll help me?"
"I’ll help you with Kang Jinwook."
That was an offer that Im Haewon could never have dreamed of. He couldn’t help but lift his face in disbelief. Kang Jin-tae curled the corner of his lips and smiled.
Im Haewon had heard that Kang Jinwook had helped him during his heat cycle incident. He had chased off the thugs, called a doctor to the hotel, and even made sure he returned home safely.
After learning all of this, Im Haewon thought this was his opportunity to get closer to Kang Jinwook. So, he waited for him in the underground parking lot, intending to thank him and, if possible, offer him a coffee—or maybe even a meal.
But he never got the chance to say anything. Kang Jinwook had ignored him completely, making Im Haewon feel invisible. To stop Kang Jinwook from walking away, he had mentioned the name Choi Sunwoo. Only then did Kang Jinwook stop.
But after that, he was met with a cold gaze and incomprehensible words. Kang Jinwook had asked whether he had contacted Choi Sunwoo and told him not to worry about it in the future.
That made Im Haewon recall a rumor he had previously dismissed. The one that said Choi Sunwoo in the secretary’s office was engaged to Kang Jinwook.
But Im Haewon hadn’t believed it. No one would think they were a match. After all, Choi Sunwoo was a Beta.
So perhaps Im Haewon had been a bit overconfident. Being a dominant Omega, he thought if he approached Kang Jinwook slowly, Kang Jinwook might eventually notice him.
"I’ll help you."
Im Haewon now realized how wrong that line of thinking had been. So, when another person—the brother of Kang Jinwook, Kang Jin-tae—appeared and started making sweet offers, Im Haewon wondered if he should change his approach.
"Yeah, I’ll help you."
There must be another agenda behind this. But if he could make use of it...
"How exactly would you help?"
"There are plenty of ways I can help."
Kang Jin-tae grinned, clearly enjoying the attention Im Haewon was giving him. It seemed the Omega sitting in front of him was easier to manage than expected.
This would make things even more convenient for him.
"Why me though?"
Im Haewon, already having made up his mind, asked a useless question.
"Why? Because I think you’re a good match for Kang Jinwook."
He was from a family with nothing of note, and the only thing he had to offer was his body—so wasn’t he a perfect match for Kang Jinwook?
Kang Jin-tae had no intention of offering anything helpful to Kang Jinwook. To him, Im Haewon was the perfect match for Kang Jinwook—someone to discard when needed.
At that moment, Im Haewon’s eyes wavered, and Kang Jin-tae noticed it right away.
"How do you..."
Im Haewon trailed off, unsure of what to say.
"Why? Because you’re a dominant Omega. That’s all that matters."
"How did you know about my genetic traits?"
Im Haewon asked again the question he had asked earlier, but this time he didn’t get an answer. Kang Jin-tae simply smiled.
"Does it matter? What’s important is that your genetic traits are useful to us. Lately, our father’s been troubled by Kang Jinwook’s marriage."
"Ah..."
"So, I thought I’d help. I found out about you while looking around. Director Kim said you were a capable employee, and with your dominant traits, it’s only natural I’d take care of you."
Kang Jin-tae continued, speaking casually as if it was all normal.
Im Haewon wasn’t sure if Kang Jin-tae was truly trying to help, but his doubts didn’t vanish. No matter how much he thought about it, there was no real reason they would need him.
Kang Jin-tae, seeing Im Haewon’s skepticism, continued.
"Well, if this isn’t enough, how about this: I’ll pay off the debts your family owes. We’ll make a deal like that."
