Wen Nan knocked on the neighbor’s door again.

Lin Xue Mei opened the door and saw Wen Nan handing over his recently swapped-out pants, neatly packed, to her.

"Aunt Mei, I... don’t really know how to wash them well myself, could you help me out?" Wen Nan tentatively asked.

Lin Xue Mei paused for a moment, then smiled.

She raised her hand to take the bag of clothes, stepped aside, and said, "Qiqi is inside doing her homework. She said there’s a newly released set of papers that are really hard, and she can’t do them. She asked if you could help. Why don’t you just go in and find her? I’ll take care of the pants."

Wen Nan nodded in agreement and walked into the room.

The apartment wasn’t large, two bedrooms and a living room, with Lin Xue Mei usually sleeping in the master bedroom, while the guest room served as Qiqi’s bedroom and study.

The entire wall opposite the bed was made into a desk with two chairs placed side by side.

Seeing Wen Nan push the door in, Qiqi immediately pulled out the chair next to her, "Brother, have a seat."

Just like at school, Wen Nan sat beside Qiqi and saw her mysteriously pull out a booklet from the drawer under the desk. She leaned closer to Wen Nan and lowered her voice, "I just got this, it’s a collector’s edition, for you."

Wen Nan looked down and caught a glimpse of the cover with large dimensions titled "The Testament of Sister New Devil".

Wen Nan was taken aback, looking at Qiqi with a meaningful expression, forming a new impression of his exclusive childhood friend...

"So, this is the new set of papers you wanted me to help with, that’s hard?"

Qiqi giggled and didn’t answer, just stuffed the book into Wen Nan’s hand, "You take a look at it."

Wen Nan opened the book and was just about to study it when the system’s notification sounded in his mind.

He’d brought the pants back and handed them to Aunt Mei, so why didn’t the mission completion rate increase? Instead, it dropped by 1%?

Was it because he came into the room and neglected Aunt Mei?

Thinking of this, Wen Nan explained to Qiqi, put down the book, and got up to find his way to the bathroom.

"Aunt Mei, is there anything you need help with..."

Wen Nan said as he opened the bathroom door.

Lin Xue Mei didn’t expect Wen Nan to suddenly come in and hurriedly submerged Wen Nan’s pants back into the sink and turned around smiling, "Why are you here instead? There’s nothing that needs help here, you should focus on the work in the room with Qiqi, don’t worry about here."

When he came in earlier, he saw Aunt Mei now standing by the sink, holding in her hand the half-washed pants like a statue, standing still, not sure what she was thinking.

Staring at his pants and causing the task completion rate to drop by 1%? That’s just too strange.

But if Wen Nan insisted on washing the pants himself, the completion rate would drop even further, so after thinking it over, he finally leaned against the glass door nearby, earnestly looking at Lin Xue Mei, "Aunt, is there something on your mind? Can you tell me?"

Lin Xue Mei’s lashes dropped down as she thought for a moment, then smiled again, "Nothing to worry about, you guys rarely come back home over the weekend, I’m just glad to have you here, nothing’s on my mind."

"But..."

"That’s enough, go finish your homework, don’t get in the way here, I still have to prepare dinner after washing these." Aunt Mei raised her hand gently pushing Wen Nan out.

At dinner, just like at lunch, Wen Nan volunteered to help Lin Xue Mei.

The kitchen was too small, and it was inevitable for them to have various body contacts as they moved around. Every time Wen Nan accidentally touched certain full and elastic parts, the task completion rate on the system would briefly increase by two points, but soon Aunt Mei would turn away, causing the completion rate to drop again.

With this frequent rise and fall, by the end of the night, the task completion rate was maintained at 68%, and it couldn’t go up any further.

As the night grew deeper, at this pace, they probably wouldn’t be able to complete the main mission by tomorrow noon, when they have to return to school.

Yet, Lin Xue Mei’s attitude continued to fluctuate, leaving Wen Nan clueless as to what to do.

After midnight, Qiqi was sleepy and struggled to keep her eyes open. She went to bathe first, then said goodnight to Wen Nan and Aunt Mei, and plunged into the big bed in the master bedroom to fall asleep quickly.

In the living room, only Lin Xue Mei and Wen Nan were left, and the atmosphere became somewhat silent.

Lin Xue Mei softly said, "Little Jiu, do you want to bathe first?"

Wen Nan shook his head, "I just remembered I need to go out for a bit, Aunt, you go ahead."

Lin Xue Mei wanted to ask what he needed to go out for so late, but in the end, didn’t ask, just handed the key to Wen Nan, telling him to come back soon.

Wen Nan went down to the fruit store and came back up shortly after.

As soon as he opened the door, he was stunned by the sight before him.

He saw Lin Xue Mei just walking out of the bathroom, wrapped in only a white bath towel, with steam still rising from her body, standing not far away.

Apparently not expecting Wen Nan to return so quickly, Lin Xue Mei stood there frozen, forgetting to respond.

Her long hair draped over her shoulders, with wet ends dripping water continuously, sliding along the collarbone and gathering at the hollow, soaking the towel there into a dark patch.

Wen Nan’s gaze followed the trail of water droplets downward, his throat rolled slightly, feeling inexplicably thirsty.

After a moment, Lin Xue Mei, pretending to be calm, smiled and said, "Back so soon? Let me go change into pajamas..."

"Sis."

Wen Nan called out from behind her, changing his address to her.

Wen Nan paused for a moment, then continued, "Sister, no need to change, it’s just the two of us here, no strangers."

Lin Xue Mei turned back and gently smiled at Wen Nan, her curved eyebrows hiding the fluster in her eyes.

Wen Nan moved to the sofa, sat down, and with genuine sincerity said, "I have something on my mind I’d like to discuss. Could you sit with me for a while?"

Facing the sincerity and beauty in the boy’s eyes, Lin Xue Mei couldn’t possibly refuse. She carefully adjusted the edge of her bath towel with her hand and moved to sit beside Wen Nan, asking, "What’s troubling you?"

Wen Nan opened the fruit platter he brought and offered it to Lin Xue Mei, "The fruit store downstairs was about to close, so I only got two types of fruit platters. Do you want a banana or a navel orange? Choose one."

With Wen Nan speaking in such a confident manner, Lin Xue Mei didn’t realize she could actually refuse.
