Chapter 309 Clues

Ye Sichen died, and people all over the world were grieving for him. The funeral was unprecedented with billions of viewers.

The whole world was immersed in the atmosphere of sorrow.

Because Ye Sichen did not complete the 400 concerts, which led to a violation of the agreement, Yuezhao Organization sued the newly established inheritance foundation of Ye Sichen and demanded a compensation for the losses according to the agreement.

Yuezhao Organization demanded that Ye Sichen’s music copyrights and the music company should be mortgaged for compensation. However, Ye Sichen had declared bankruptcy before his death. All the assets under his name were mortgaged to repay his huge debt. His copyrights and the half share of the music company had been coveted by Yuezhao Organization for a long time, which had been mortgaged to the bank.

Yuezhao Organization could get nothing.

Out of rage, Mrs. Baili asked Ye Sichen’s personnel to pay her an astronomical figure. However, Ye Sichen’s legacy was poorly managed, and it was impossible to get one million dollars from the foundation.

That meant that Ye Sichen’s team became an empty shell after his death. There was nothing left behind. Even Ye Sichen’s funeral was funded by his fans.

Mrs. Baili was desperate. If she could have known earlier that she would get no benefit from Ye Sichen, she would eliminate him in advance.

However, the Allies decided to cooperate with Yuezhao Organization, because Yuezhao Organization eliminated Ye Sichen, which comforted Mrs. Baili a little bit.

On the day of the funeral, hundreds of thousands of people gathered in the stadium where Ye Sichen once rehearsed. Because the stadium was so full that many people could not get tickets to enter. They stood outside of the stadium, holding the banner and watching the large outdoor screen, on which the funeral was broadcast live.

Xia Nuan stood in an inconspicuous place, looking at the big screen. Her tears slipped quietly. Behind her, Ye Sichen in a disguised outfit embraced her and felt the same sadness with her.

Only they knew that it was Song Kuncheng who was lying in the crystal coffin.

After quite a while, Xia Nuan and Ye Sichen got on the car together.

Ye Sichen stared at the fans outside crying for him, and he felt so sorry.

“Am I too selfish to abandon my fans?” Ye Sichen asked Xia Nuan.

Xia Nuan looked toward the direction that Ye Sichen looked at and sighed, “If you don’t leave in this way, Yuezhao Organization and the Allies will never let you leave.”

Ye Sichen supported his forehead with hand, “Yes, you are right. I still have things to do. I’m tired of living under the spotlight. After solving those problems, I really want to settle down with you and the children.”

Hearing these words, Xia Nuan entwined her fingers with his.

“I want to record a video clip for my fans.” Ye Sichen said, “I want them to know I would miss them, even if I’ve left.”

“Then I will get lots of rivals.” Xia Nuan smiled and scoffed.

“Who told you that? They are my family; and you are my family and beloved one.” Ye Sichen kissed her on the forehead.

Ken saw them through the rearview mirror. Then, he started the engine and left the stadium.

Nestling in Ye Sichen’s arms, Xia Nuan watched through the window, “I wonder how my mother and Xia Yan are going.”

Ye Sichen looked at Ken.

Ken said, “Rest assured, Ma’am. I visited them just a few days ago. They were fine. Xia Yan opened a clothing shop in Zhongshan City, and your mother, Madam Zeng, is physically healthy. But they both think you are dead, so they always go to the beach.”

Xia Nuan sighed, “Is Xia Yan unwilling to take over my clothing company?”

“Yes, she wants to build up her own career.” Ken said.

Xia Nuan heard this and was moved. It seemed that Xia Yan had really changed.

“Ye Enchen visited her several times. Nevertheless, she wanted nothing to do with Ye Enchen.” Ken continued telling Xia Nuan about Xia Yan.

Xia Nuan nodded, “May Ye Enchen do no harm to her anymore.”

“Ye Enchen might have no time for her now.” A surge of coldness lingered on Ye Sichen’s lips. He looked at Xia Nuan, “Except Ranni, Ye’s Family has been busy suing my inheritance foundation to get a slice of the cake. But I will not let them succeed.”

“But you left Madam Ye a fortune at that time, didn’t you? Why wouldn’t they just accept as it is?” Xia Nuan frowned.

“They will never get satisfied. Anyway, there is no penny for them in the inheritance foundation. Let them play their theater.” In order to reward Madam Ye for her grace of upbringing, Ye Sichen left her a good fortune so that she could live out her days. But how to spend the money, was out of his control.

“Sir, we just arrived at Xiu Lin’s house.”

Ken broke the contemplation of Xia Nuan and Ye Sichen.

Xia Nuan and Ye Sichen came back to their senses, and then looked outside. A quiet and elegant house came into view.

After they got off, Ken parked the car outside.

The owner of the house they were visiting, Xiu Lin, was an acquaintance of Ye Sichen and Xia Nuan.

Five or six years ago, not long after the birth of Wuyou and Nianci, Xia Nuan came to work for Ye Sichen. There she knew Xiu Lin’s aunt, who became ill because of missing her son who was killed in a fight. To fulfill her last wish to see her son, Ye Sichen disguised himself as Wei Shi, the dead son. And Xia Nuan disguised herself as Wei Shi’s wife. They accompanied the old lady to her death. Ye Sichen and Xia Nuan had no intention to bother Xiu Lin. But Xiu Lin was related to the evidence Di Luoke looked for, so they had to come over by themselves.

Ken knocked first.

Ye Sichen and Xia Nuan disguised themselves as Ken’s subordinates, standing behind Ken and waiting for the opening of the door.

Then the door opened, and a slim middle-aged woman came up.

Xia Nuan and Ye Sichen gazed at her. It was Xiu Lin, the niece of the old lady.

Xiu Lin looked depressed and exhausted. She asked Ken, “Who are you looking for?”

She did not recognize Ye Sichen and Xia Nuan.

Ken asked politely, “Are you Madam Xiu Lin?”

“Yes, you are?” Xiu Lin adjusted her glasses, but could still not recognize Ken. After all, she had less contact with Ken than she had with Ye Sichen and Xia Nuan at that time.

“I am Ye Sichen’s assistant, Ma’am. Can we talk inside?”

Once Xiu Lin heard Ye Sichen’s name, she excitedly led Ken, Ye Sichen and Xia Nuan into her house. She made some tea and handed the cups of tea to them.

“Mr. Ye’s death was really unexpected for me. Good people don’t live long.” Xiu Lin said with tears in her eyes.

Xia Nuan got touched. She pulled a piece of paper towel out and handed it to Xiu Lin. Xiu Lin hesitated for a second and took it from Xia Nuan, “Thank you.”

“In fact, it is a relief for Mr. Ye.” Ken tried to comfort Xiu Lin.

Ye Sichen sat aside. Seeing Xiu Lin in sadness, he was also very sad.

Xiu Lin stopped whimpering and asked Ken, “Mr. Ken, do you have anything to ask me?”

“Well, I wonder if you could tell us things about Wei Shi, the son of the old lady.”

This surprised Xiu Lin.

Ken explained, “Some people with ulterior motives misjudged Mr. Ye as a terrorist before his death. And Wei Shi was confronted with terrorists during his tour in Country S. So, I’d like to know it from you. After all, Mr. Ye’s innocence should not be violated.”

Xiu Lin nodded, seeming to remember the past, “After the death of my cousin, nothing was actually left. When the body was transported back, there was only a jacket, which could barely cover him. That jacket was gone at the funeral and I couldn’t find it anymore.”

Speaking of this, Xiu Lin found it weird, “I didn’t understand at the time. Why that cloth disappeared secretly? I assumed that the relatives didn’t want to see cousin Wei Shi be buried in shabby clothes.”

“Were there any other items buried with him except clothes?” Ye Sichen asked Xiu Lin in a lower voice.

Xiu Lin recalled carefully and nodded with certainty, “Nothing else. I remember very clear. His funeral was in a rush, because we were worried that my aunt could not accept the reality once she found it. We were unwilling to tell her this bad news at that time.”

Ye Sichen seemed to be disappointed, but he was still grateful for the information that Xiu Lin could offer.

After leaving Xiu Lin’s house, Ye Sichen, Xia Nuan and Ken went back to the car.

“We have to find another way.” Xia Nuan said.

It seemed to be a little tricky for Ye Sichen. He might have something in mind, and said to Ken, “Ken, go to the inheritance foundation.”

“Sir, are you and Ma’am going there too?”

“Yes, we’re, and we have to.”

“All right, make yourselves unrecognizable.” Ken had no choice but drive to the inheritance foundation.

There Ken met Lian Kang, the director of the foundation.

“Mr. Ye inherited a legacy from a Madam. Take out the notarial certificate of legacy.” Following Ye Sichen’s instruction, Ken told Lian Kang what to do.

Lian Kang found the certificate soon. The inheritance was left to Ye Sichen and Xia Nuan by Xiu Lin’s aunt. Ye Sichen kept it and wanted to give it back to Xiu Lin when necessary. But Xiu Lin did not accept it.

Ken handed the notarial certificate over to Ye Sichen and Xia Nuan after the procedure.

Ye Sichen glanced through the document, said in a quiet tone, “The old lady left us a manor. I think it’s necessary to check it out for new clues.”

Xia Nuan thought, “Maybe we could find some new clues.”

So, he drove to the manor that once belonged to Xiu Lin’s aunt. Before her death, she left the manor to Ye Sichen and Xia Nuan in her last will.

The manor was surrounded by green grass. Due to a lack of proper maintaining and gardening for a long time, the path was covered by grass. Ye Sichen took Xia Nuan’s hand and staggered into the manor.

There was no grass inside of the manor. On the contrary, it was very fresh and clean. It should be quite convenient to live in after clean-up.

There were a saber, a fencing suit, a pair of boots and an army uniform on the wall, which Wei Shi wore when he was alive.

It was obvious how much the old lady missed her son.

Entwined with their fingers, Xia Nuan and Ye Sichen entered a bedroom, in which everything was antiquated and baronial. It smelled like a garden with flowers and birds.

A light breeze blew a notebook on the desk, and the pages opened. The handwritten notes could be seen from a distance.

Xia Nuan loosened Ye Sichen’s hand and walked to the desk. Ye Sichen followed her.
