I Am Tired Of Being A Hero-Chapter 235: Breakfast on the table
Chapter 235: Breakfast on the table
"Why are you looking at me like that, love? I am a young man in my prime." Arlen chuckled as he wore back his pajamas and looked in Ravi’s drawers for a top. He hesitated; the wardrobe was arranged from work to home clothes.
But, at the very end, the home clothes were different. T-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts, fleece pullovers, and sweatpants, there were two lounge shorts, joggers, and a pajama set; all in his size.
He turned to look at Ravi who immediately grew cautious, "Hey! We have a lot of things to do today, what kind of thoughts are you having? Delete them. Delete them."
Arlen laughed a warm chuckle that curled around Ravi like a cat’s tail, "You are the best, Ravi. I love you so much."
The words made Ravi freeze for a second, then a red dust danced on his cheeks, "I love you too."
Arlen smiled.
Fuck! That smile.
Arlen captured his chin, tipped his face up, and kissed him. Those soft lips shot through him with an irresistible heat, a moment that charged him with a rush and made his entire body go so hot, that it did not help the situation of his lower half at all.
Arlen did not kiss him for long before pulling away. He lifted Ravi’s hand and then lowered his head to plant a gentle kiss on his fingers.
Ravi trembled, as if those lips were a torch setting his fingers on fire, spreading quickly to his heart.
"You...charmer!" He did not know what other words he could use and it made Arlen burst out laughing.
Ravi wanted to glare but he ended up smiling, he looked at the clock and his eyes widened, "It is 7:20. I would take my bath first and then you can shower after me. Your clothes are on the veranda."
"We can save time if we bathe together." Arlen raised both hands in an innocent gesture, "I would not do anything. I promise."
"Speak for yourself. I can’t promise that." Ravi reached out to pull his clothes above his head. He was not as muscular as Arlen but his muscle lines were very tight and smooth with a long neck, straight shoulders, and prominent shoulder blades that called someone to leave a bite on them. When he lowered his head, the back of his neck bone protruded clearly and folded into a soft curve.
Arlen swallowed; he also could not keep that promise. He tactfully looked away and headed to the veranda to get his clothes.
Ravi chuckled and headed into the bathroom. He did not take much time and soon rushed downstairs.
Asher and Sage were sitting down on the table drinking some multi-grain cereal. The only reason that Ravi had bought that box was because he had been sorely convinced by the advertisement of how the child had been able to enter the best university in the school just by taking the cereal.
But looking at the level that the box he had just bought two days ago was now, it was a good thing. No, it was not. Doesn’t it mean that the food in the fridge had reduced so significantly that they had to drink that much cereal?
Ravi felt guilty, as a qualified guardian, it was his responsibility to provide good food for his ward.
"Good morning, Ravi."
"You finally decided to come down. Where is the Captain..." Sage paused to look behind Ravi, as if he was expected to see the shadow of Arlen behind him.
"He is taking a shower. Good morning, Ash." He stepped forward to riffle the black and white hair, placing a kiss on his head.
"Did you sleep well?" Asher asked, looking at Ravi and noticing that he looked more refreshed than he had been yesterday,
"Yes." Ravi paused when he saw the two trays of food. He opened them a food cover. There were five shrimp dumplings as clear as crystal, a small plate of green, bouncy spinach, a bowl of some kind of porridge, definitely not rice, that looks more like millet, three spring rolls, and a dish of stir-fried lotus root. The entire tray looked as luxurious as breakfast could be.
He looked towards the two teenagers on the table.
"It was Sage who bought the food. He went all the way to Calcreek to get the food. Said that you and the Captain are stressed out from not catching the killer and you would be too tired to cook when you wake up." Asher looked back teasingly at Sage who glared at him.
Sage coughed lightly before looking up at Ravi, "You owe me 45 dollars." His ears were a little red. Ravi smiled and moved over to ruffle Sage’s hair. Although the teenager huffed and puffed, he did not exactly move away.
"Thank you, Sage. I would round it up and send it to you later."
"Do you think you will be done with the case by the weekend?" Asher asked and Ravi nodded.
"Yes, it shouldn’t be long now. Why?"
Asher looked at Sage and the two of them exchanged sneaky looks.
What are they plotting now?
"I would tell you then. Going to be late. Bye." In addition, before he could pry anything out of their mouths, the two boys carried their bag, Sage taking the laptop on the table and speeding out of the door just as Malik was coming in.
"I could tell you what they are hiding from you," Malik said as he entered the house. He was holding two knitting needles as his fingers moved quickly.
Was he knitting?
Ravi did not even want to ask, except he did, "Good morning to you too. A new hobby?"
"No. More like exercise. To practice my finger dexterity. Don’t you have, Ah, I forgot, you don’t particularly need the skill?"
What was he on about now?
"You.."
Malik raised his hand to stop him as he opened the earphones, "I have a call." He connected seamlessly and a few minutes later, he smiled lightly.
It was a gentle, airy smile that never spelled anything good.
"Of course. We will find him for you." His voice softened, like the whisper of a devil, "Now dear, how would you like us to find him, dead or alive?"
There was a small cough from the staircase, and Malik paused, he moved his head to the direction where Arlen was coming down and nodded at him, "Good morning, Captain."
Without waiting for a response, he left the house, still conversing with his client.
