I Can Tame Everything!-Chapter 38 - Awakening! V
Chapter 38 - 38 - Awakening! V
"Two, you can stay here and die," he concluded in a grim tone, eyes flashing calculatingly.
"Everyone is gone, who will kill us?" Rex questioned stiffly.
The butler narrowed his eyes, then with a faint smile, he mumbled, "Come on, you are smarter than that."
Yes, Rex knew the butler was talking about himself killing them, but... well, Rex just tried taking his chances. Finding this useless, He resolved himself. since confrontation was inevitable, His eyes gleamed with determination as a resolute expression adorned his face.
But before he could do anything, the butler raised his hand, directing it toward Rex. Around his palm, a small fireball emerged, growing steadily before shooting toward Rex, only missing him by a few inches.
"Don't try anything funny. I'm not like that loser," the butler spoke with a glaring warning.
[Tamed Entity: Arcane | Bloodline Awakening: 66%...78%]
With slight hesitation, Rex narrowed his eyes glowing golden, as a panel fluttered before him.
[Name: Scias Periculum]
[Entity: Human]
[Species: Human]
[Bloodline: Low-Human]
[Rank: Grandmaster 2–Stars]
[Potential: C]
Watching the butler's status panel, Rex frowned. After staying in Tollin City for so long, he naturally understood how the ranking system worked.
There was:
Ascender → Grandmaster → Lord.
Each rank had 3 stars and then came the ranks that had 5 stars as their upper limit:
Overlord and Emperor Rank.
The butler was an entire rank above Rex. He had hardly killed Seskel at Ascender 3-stars while using everything at his disposal, other than going along with the butler, Rex didn't have any other choice.
The butler spoke with an amused smile. "So your ability works on humans too? Interesting," surprise evident in his voice. Then his tone turned sharp. As he advised "Since you know I'm a Grandmaster, I hope you would be smart enough to follow me silently,"
Rex narrowed his eyes as he caught on. "The reason you're here is because I can appraise beasts accurately?"
"Haha, yes, precisely. I'm here because of that ability of yours," he stated.
As they were conversing, everyone's gazes snapped toward Arcane.
Boom... Crackle!
Lightning crackled, loud enough for the whole city to hear!
Then it went silent, the dark clouds dispersed and faded away turning the sky to its natural state.
Arcane's awakening...had finally been completed!
[Tamed Entity: Arcane | Bloodline Awakening: 100% - Successful]
The sphere of lightning that enveloped her began to shrink as every crackling spark was absorbed into her body.
The thunderbolt mark on her forehead glowed white with searing intensity, boldly declaring its presence. And surprisingly, a faint purple fire flickered around the lightning mark.
While the lightning mark stayed still as an imprint, the faint purple fire danced like living flames.
Greed flared in the butler's eyes for a brief moment but he quickly suppressed it. Glancing at Rex, he rumbled, "So you want to come with me or die?" in an authoritative tone.
Yet, Rex's eyes lingered on Arcane. As her awakening concluded, she screeched thunderously, glancing at Rex: {Father, I feel stronger}
Then, Arcane's gaze landed on her dead biological father. With widened eyes, she zipped, disappearing from her spot and reappearing before Raigon's body.
"F-Father," her voice cracked, glancing at Rex with somber eyes, and then at Raigon, her biological father.
Arcane had spoken for the first time.
Rex stood there with an apologetic expression, then as if realizing something, he furrowed his brows. She can speak now? he thought and quickly checked her status.
[Name: Arcane]
[Entity: Beast]
[Species: Thunderblaze]
[Bloodline: Thunderblaze Awakened Lineage]
[Rank: Noble Rank 1-Star]
[Potential: A]
[Loyalty: 12%]
A new bloodline and rank? he thought. But before Rex could revel in her strength, and Arcane could fully process the sadness bubbling in her heart, their emotions were cut short as the butler rumbled in a commanding voice, "Do you want to live or die?" His tone was sharp as a mixture of anger and annoyance surfaced in his voice as he continued
"While a Grandmaster is equal to a Noble-rank beast in terms of strength and power. I hope you are not foolish enough to get hopeful after checking that bird's rank. I might lose a limb or two, but I'll make sure every one of you dies here," he sneered firmly as if his words contained only the truth.
Anger flared in Arcane's eyes after hearing the butler's words, lightning and purple fire dancing around her menacingly.
Even Rex was taken back as he gazed at her display of power. "Calm down and come here, Arcane," Rex voiced soothingly, his eyes sharp, expecting no defiance.
Arcane reluctantly agreed, quickly standing behind him. Once barely reaching his knees, now after awakening, she stood around his shoulders.
Rex glanced at the butler. "We are ready to go with you." and spoke with an expressionless face.
Seeing Rex showing no signs of resistance, the butler muttered, "Smart choice," a small smile crossing his face.
There wasn't much of a choice here—Rex being the weakest while Arcane had just awakened at the level of a Grandmaster, when the butler was already sitting at one star above Arcane, and that too for who knew how long. As for Darius, he was the weakest, so there wasn't much he could do.
And even if somehow they miraculously won, Rex didn't want anyone to die or have sustained serious irreversible injuries.
Additionally, the butler seemed sincere. And Rex, anyhow, had to leave this city after killing Seraphine and causing a ruckus with Arcane's awakening throughout the city.
"Where will you take us?" Darius stepped in firmly.
"My lord, Duke Asselin Walterius, has noticed Rex's gifted ability and wants to recommend him to the king," he said, his voice calm and respectful.
Because they had agreed, he would escort them with respect and honor, since they would eventually be presented before the king.
"What? The king?" Rex's eyes widened in shock.
"Yes, now let's leave," the butler said.
"What about Seraphine? We killed her," Rex questioned, glancing at her body.
The butler glanced at it and spoke, "That is a serious mistake, as I wouldn't want to mess with Goldhammer Foundry, but consider yourself lucky because of that ability. And Since no one saw it, we will blame it on that Seskel guy."
Rex nodded in understanding, though there were those flying people who had witnessed it. Still, Rex couldn't bother to hunt each one down, which might cause even more problems.
"Last question, will you really not harm us?" Rex asked, already suspecting the answer.
The butler shook his head. "I can't harm you even if I wanted. I'm strictly bound by orders."
"What if you don't follow those orders?" Arcane chimed in with another question.
The man sighed with frustration but answered calmly, "I can't betray my lord; otherwise, he'll kill me. Now if you've got all the answers, let's leave."
"Fine. We will go with you, but give us some time to bury Arcane's father," Darius spoke firmly. As if agreeing with his condition, Rex nodded approvingly with a resolute expression.
Seeing they weren't budging, the butler sighed and agreed.
"Be quick. I can't wait for long. I would have advised you to leave this building quickly, but since you have a Grandmaster-level beast on your side, that won't be necessary," he said, and left swiftly.
"Should we run away, Rex?" Darius stepped in and questioned immediately when the butler left.
Rex shook his head. "I don't think we can run away from him," he said and handed two mana crystals to Darius. "Here take this and grow stronger" Darius took the crystals and nodded thankfully with an determined expression.
As for the remaining two mana crystals...his eyes gleamed with resolve for power, already having devoured 7 mana crystals he was confident that he would rank up easily.
he crushed the two mana crystals and mana surged filling up his core as the message he was awaiting for so long beautifully prompted before his eyes.
And for his companions, Arcane was already stronger than him, while Darius was growing steadily and Ash who had been hidden from prying eyes had been given 2 mana crystals which was still being slowly absorbed by him.
