I Get A Random New Occupation Every Week-Chapter 2510 - 2511: Halke Rangers
Chapter 2510: Chapter 2511: Halke Rangers
"Is there really no other way?" Caie Mitsui asked worriedly.
"I just feel it’s too dangerous. Going to such a place, even the slightest mistake could mean death. I don’t want to see you in danger."
Lin Yi glanced out the window and sighed helplessly.
"There might be other ways, but I haven’t thought of them. And now, I don’t have time to think. I need to resolve the situation quickly."
"Can’t we just keep hiding?"
"No, we can’t. The authorities seem to have intensified their search efforts. A lot of foreign operatives have also arrived and are scattered all over Japan," Lin Yi said cautiously.
"Through some traces, they can lock down our activity range. If we stay any longer, I can’t guarantee what might happen."
Looking at Lin Yi’s serious expression, Caie Mitsui realized that this matter was far more dangerous and arduous than she had imagined.
Caie Mitsui grasped Lin Yi’s hand tightly and said seriously, with determination:
"Let’s go. No matter where it is, I’m willing to go with you. Even if it means death, I’m not afraid."
A strange emotion coursed through Lin Yi’s heart. In this lifetime, having someone willing to die with him—how could it not be considered a stroke of luck?
He checked the fuel gauge and found only a quarter of a tank left.
Lin Yi hesitated for a moment, deciding to fill up the tank first and buy Caie Mitsui some supplies, as who knew what would happen next.
If they ran out of fuel midway, he and Caie Mitsui might as well wait for death.
Lin Yi started the car and set off. After driving for more than half an hour, he came across three gas stations along the way.
Without exception, all three stations were guarded, leaving no opportunities.
Faced with such a situation, Caie Mitsui became even more acutely aware of the severity of the problem.
It was no wonder Lin Yi had resorted to such measures. If they didn’t act soon, things would escalate into something unmanageable.
With no other options, Lin Yi drove onto a small road, hoping to find a smaller, less conspicuous gas station to fill up.
Otherwise, he’d have to resort to the same old trick of hijacking another car, not knowing how much fuel it had.
The predicament weighed heavily on Lin Yi, keeping him silent for a long time.
This was a stage where the situation had spiraled beyond his control.
"Mr. Lin Yi, there’s a car following us!" Caie Mitsui exclaimed in alarm.
"I noticed it."
Lin Yi’s expression was grave, his hands gripping the steering wheel so tightly that the veins on the back of his hands bulged, as if he were trying to crush it!
His sharpened instincts told him that the car behind them was unlikely to be an ordinary private vehicle.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Lin Yi’s heart raced uncontrollably.
"Take the gun. You might need it soon."
"Got it."
Though Caie Mitsui was a woman, she’d been involved in her fair share of killings and robberies.
Years ago in China, even her cousin had met his end at her hands.
Caie Mitsui pulled out three guns, which she had taken from those three police officers earlier and kept on hand for emergencies.
With everything prepared, Caie Mitsui stared intently at the car behind them.
"Should we act now?"
"Unless absolutely necessary, don’t shoot," Lin Yi said in a low voice.
"This area is full of officials. If gunshots are heard, it’ll be easy to attract people. It’ll be hard to escape then."
"Understood."
Lin Yi continued driving nonchalantly, trying to shake off the car trailing them.
To his dismay, the driver of the car behind had considerable skill, sticking to him like glue and refusing to be shaken off.
Just as Lin Yi was devising another strategy, he noticed the car behind speeding up, closing the gap between them!
The performance difference between the vehicles soon became evident. The trailing car quickly overtook Lin Yi and attempted to force him to stop.
Lin Yi didn’t retaliate further, slowly reducing his speed.
With the fuel running low, dragging things out would only work against him. It might be best to eliminate these people and continue on his way.
But one thing left Lin Yi unsettled.
He didn’t know who these people were, but he was certain they weren’t authorities.
Ten minutes later, both cars came to a stop.
The surrounding area fell into a sudden silence, a deafening stillness broken only by Lin Yi’s heavy breathing!
"Mr. Lin Yi!"
"We may have been exposed. Don’t panic yet, let’s assess the situation," Lin Yi said.
For half a minute, the people in both cars remained locked in a tense standoff. Finally, the lead vehicle made the first move.
Four people stepped out, weapons in hand!
Three of them aimed their weapons directly at Lin Yi and Caie Mitsui, ready to pull the trigger at any moment.
Seeing the four individuals emerging, Lin Yi’s brow furrowed even deeper.
The leader was a big, burly westerner with a thick beard, wearing grease-stained camouflage clothing, giving off a rugged vibe.
What unsettled Lin Yi most was the emblem on the man’s chest, bearing a design of a medieval knight.
Lin Yi recognized the symbol instantly!
The Halke Rangers!
An organization no less formidable than Poker!
Being tracked down by such a group, Lin Yi thought to himself, wasn’t an undeserved fate.
"Get out of the car!"
The man in front waved at Lin Yi menacingly, clearly prepared to shoot if orders weren’t followed.
"Mr. Lin Yi, what now?"
At such a critical moment, Caie Mitsui remained remarkably composed.
She knew that panicking would only add to Lin Yi’s burden.
"Get out of the car."
The man speaking was named Sambalo, a C-rank captain of the Halke Rangers.
Sambalo raised his weapon and, alongside his three subordinates, cautiously approached Lin Yi’s car.
Lin Yi took no chances with opponents like these.
Anyone who operated at their level was unlikely to be easy to deal with.
The two exited the car cautiously, Lin Yi’s eyes cold and calculating as he fixed his gaze on the armed trio, ready in case they fired.
"What do you want?"
The lead man scrutinized Caie Mitsui and said to her:
"I know who you are—the head of the Mitsui Group."
Then, he turned his gaze toward Lin Yi.
"I suppose you’re the one who hijacked the Ocean Symphony."
"What makes you so sure?"
Lin Yi responded with a smile, without denying the claim.
At this point, playing word games was meaningless.
No one here was in the mood for banter.
"We received intel that the head of the Mitsui Group was with you, and you’re quite the driver," Sambalo remarked.
"You noticed my tailing and almost lost me several times. Ordinary people don’t have such skills."
"Thanks for the compliment."
"So you’re admitting it." Sambalo said quietly.
"Come with us. Don’t resist. You don’t have a chance."
"I’ll go with you, but only alone. Don’t involve her."
