The first beast had already fallen under the combined assault from Jan, Hund, and Esther.

It hadn't taken them long to bring down that strange creature — as if it came from another world — a creature that could strike at their very souls.

They barely spoke a word to each other, yet their timing and speed matched seamlessly, each attack flowing into the next.

"This is the result of fighting together for so long," Eccar thought, feeling genuinely impressed.

Mark let out a short snort and flashed a quick grin. Suddenly, his competitive spirit stirred.

He turned his gaze toward Thorne, Selene, and Kaela. His own party met his eyes, and in that brief instant, they understood each other without a single word spoken.

All three gave a sharp nod.

Without another moment's delay, they moved — launching themselves at the remaining beasts. Five of the strange creatures still prowled in the mist, and they couldn't afford to waste time.

Mark surged forward first, his heavy boots pounding against the damp earth as he closed the distance to the nearest beast.

The creature's twin serpent heads turned toward him. Their green eyes flaring, but Mark was already in motion.

His sword came around in a wide arc until it made a low humming with the force behind it.

The lion head lunged to intercept with its jaws that gaping wide. But Mark twisted at the last second, his blade smashing against the side of its skull with a crunch and with a single strike the bone cracked and the beast staggered.

Selene was already moving behind him, her gloved hands swirling with rising flames. Her lips moved in rapid low chant that only she can hear and fire coiled around her wrists like living serpents

"Mark, now!" she called, voice sharp and steady.

Mark ducked low and rolled to the side just as Selene thrust her palms forward.

WOOSH!

A searing jet of flame roared from her hands, slamming directly into the lion head's open mouth. Fire erupted outward, setting its mane ablaze in an instant.

The monster howled, rearing back, but its serpents now take turns attacking forward with snapping jaws.

Mark didn't flinch. He stepped in close again, ignoring the gnashing fangs. His sword shot up in a stabbing thrust, driving through the throat of one serpent head, pinning it in place as it writhed.

With a grunt, Mark yanked his blade free and spun, cleaving down in a brutal chop that severed the weakened neck.

Selene's hands flared brighter and with the same low chant she conjured a second burst of flame but this time in the shape of a narrow lance just like what Esther had earlier. ƒгeewёbnovel.com

She hurled it like a spear, and the fiery weapon punched through the beast's chest, erupting out its back in a spray of burning flesh and bloods.

The creature convulsed violently, then collapsed in a heap of burning flesh.

Mark exhaled hard, stepping back as the corpse shuddered and fell still.

"One more down," he muttered, glancing toward Thorne and Kaela.

Thorne was also already on the move. His sword gleamed as he advanced, face grim and silent as always. The second beast lunged toward him, its claws raking through the mist when it saw him.

Thorne met it head-on without hesitation, his sword crashing against the monster's paw in a clash of steel and bone. The force sent shudders through his arms but he held strong then shoving back hard.

Kaela move incredibly fast beside him, her twin daggers flashing as she moved in low position.

When it saw her the serpent heads snapped at her but she was too fast. She weaving and sliding beneath their strikes with graceful movements.

With a fast move of her hands one dagger slashed across a serpent's jaw, slicing deep. The second dagger plunged into its eye with precise and strong force.

Thorne saw his chance. He stepped in and swung with both hands, his sword carving a deep gash across the lion head's throat.

Black blood sprayed, and the beast choked, stumbling back in pain.

Kaela didn't stop. She pivoted and leapt onto its shoulder then driving both daggers down in a savage double stab — one into the remaining serpent's eye, the other straight through the skull.

The beast roared, staggered once, then collapsed under its own weight and didn't move anymore.

Kaela landed lightly beside Thorne, wiping her blades clean with a swift flick. Thorne gave her a curt nod.

Kaela just smirked faintly, eyes already scanning for the next target.

Two more beasts dead. The mist seemed to shudder with their passing — but there were still three more prowling in the fog.

When the second beast's corpse hit the ground with a heavy thud, the brief silence was broken by the faint growls echoing from deeper within the mist.

Three more of those twisted creatures still moving around them, their glowing green eyes flickering like ghostly embers in the shroud of fog.

Mark turned, wiping the blood from his blade with a sharp flick. His eyes met Selene's, then Thorne's. They all knew that there willl be no pause or retreat. End this before these creatures could regroup.

"Let's finish it," Mark growled, his grin sharpening.

They moved together. Mark, Thorne, Kaela, and Selene launched themselves forward, their boots pounding against the soaked earth. The mist churned and swirled around them like a living thing but they cut through it with ease.

The first of the remaining beasts lunged at them — this one larger, its lion head somehow already bearing scars from some old battle, and its serpent heads snapping hungrily.

Mark charged headlong to meet it, roaring a challenge. His blade came down in a powerful strike from above its head.

The beast raised a claw to block but Thorne was already there. His own sword smashed into the creature's side with brutal force, throwing its balance off.

Kaela darted around to its flank. Her daggers flashed as she slashed at the tendons behind its knee, slicing deep. The beast faltered with a snarling cry.

Selene's voice rose in a clear, steady chant now, no longer a whisper. Flames erupted around her hands, coiling like vipers before she thrust both palms forward.

"Burn, you fucker!" she hissed.

A wide arc of fire swept out, engulfing the serpent heads as they lunged at Thorne and Mark. The creatures shrieked, recoiling as their scales blackened and cracked.
