Chapter 409

Mu Mingtang took a deep breath, held Xie Xuanchen’s hand without saying a word and told herself that she was going to forbid him from touching alcohol again, “Are you crazy?? You’re drinking so much! I can’t believe you’re still in the snow for so long after drinking so much. You should be careful in case you get a cold tomorrow.”

Xie Xuanchen still didn’t feel that he was drunk, but when he stood up, he staggered abruptly. Mu Mingtang was taken aback as she hurriedly walked around the corridor to support him, scolding him bitterly, “And you claim that you aren’t drunk? This isn’t you being drunk?’

Mu Mingtang didn’t dare to let Xie Xuanchen stay in the cold wind any longer. If he were to be exposed to cold winds again and pair it with the amount of hot wine he drank, he might have a headache tomorrow. Mu Mingtang hurriedly helped him to rest inside. Fortunately, the mansion was a large land and even the martial arts arena was also equipped with a full set of lounges, donned with complete furniture sets and bedding.

Mu Mingtang supported Xie Xuanchen to sit on the bed, the man finally looking like he was slightly drunk. After sitting down, he supported his head with his hand and murmured inaudibly, “I’m so thirsty.”

When Mu Mingtang heard it, she was so angry, “Yeah, braving yourself to face the cold winds and drink a bunch of wine out there was a smart choice, right? You know how uncomfortable it feels now, don’t you?”

Although Mu Mingtang made snarky remarks about his condition, she turned around immediately to find some water for him. Although the Yanwu Hall was full of furniture, it was not a common place where they would utilise the rooms. Hence, the tea was not kept warm all day like it was in the Yulin Palace. Mu Mingtang only found a pot of cold tea and it was too late to pay attention to its temperature now, so she quickly poured a cup to help sober him up.

It took Mu Mingtang a lot of effort to find any source of water, but when she walked back to the couch with the tea, Xie Xuanchen had already leaned on it and fell asleep.

Mu Mingtang couldn’t help softening the sound of her footsteps. She sat sideways on the edge of the bed and said softly, “Get up and drink some water first.”

Xie Xuanchen didn’t respond. Mu Mingtang was worried that he would be thirsty later on, so he reached out and shook his arm, “Drink some first before going to sleep.”

Just as Mu Mingtang’s hand touched Xie Xuanchen’s arm, her wrists were grabbed suddenly and then the world spun as he pushed her onto the ground.

Mu Mingtang didn’t expect this at all, so she was caught off guard and exclaimed. All the water in her hand was naturally spilled, most of it ending up on her dress, but her collar was soaked in an instant .

Mu Mingtang was still in shock and when she finally came to her senses, she immediately pushed Xie Xuanchen’s chest, “What are you doing? You spilled all the water, let go!”

With that, Xie Xuanchen looked at her fixedly with his gaze full of confusion, “Who are you?”

He was truly drunk. He couldn’t remember or tell a lot of things, so only his body’s instinctive reaction remained.

Mu Mingtang was so angry that she hammered him, still trying to sit up, “I’m Mu Mingtang. Get out of the way, I want to get up.”

Xie Xuanchen remained motionless, still pressing onto Mu Mingtang firmly as the confusion in his eyes never diminished, “I don’t know you. What are you doing here?”

When Mu Mingtang heard him say that he didn’t know her, she choked on her own words with anger. She wanted to kick him away, but her legs were restrained by him, so she could only glare at him, “You complained that you were thirsty, so I came to give you some water. But in the end, you’re repaying kindness with revenge and splattered all this water on me. I don’t care if you’re really drunk or faking it, but let go of me because I want to change my clothes.”

Xie Xuanchen glanced back at the lonely cup on the ground, realising that he had indeed spilled all the water. He was usually very vicious, but no one expected that when he was drunk, his ability to comprehend words and actions would be slow and dazed.

“The water is gone,” Xie Xuanchen murmured in a low voice. After finishing speaking, he suddenly kissed Mu Mingtang’s lips without warning, “There is still some here.”
