Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix-Chapter 1472: The last five
Chapter 1472: The last five
When Limit Breaker reached level three hundred, Rain felt like something inside him was changing... the feeling intensified when Apex Fury reached level one hundred. Those skills were basic ones, so they required normal amounts of experience to level up, so Rain felt awesome with that feeling inside him growing.
It was a sense of power, vigor, and freedom... he assumed that those kinds of skills were affecting him more because of their nature. Those skills were part of the berserker king and berserker emperor’s path, and there were few things more freeing than the actions of a mad warrior.
"I guess this isn’t unexpected," Rain thought. "Some paths develop faster than the others because we are more talented in some fields, like a certain type of elemental magic. Since I am always moving my body and those techniques improve my fighting style, it makes sense that they would affect me like this."
Rain could use those techniques almost automatically, even without equipping them in the middle of the battle, but he let them there to gain experience. Still, he never noticed how they changed after reaching such high levels.
When Rain went to check that, he saw his body bulging almost violently and his skin heating up... he wasn’t suffering damage, but he could feel his heartbeat increasing. When he used Apex Fury alongside it, His body suddenly increased by five sides... he felt like he was about to turn dark green, like a certain fighter that likes to flex his muscles and strength by using only a certain percentage of his strength against the opponents... but at least some weird volcanoes didn’t show up in his shoulders.
"This probably isn’t good for my health..." Rain said when he felt his heart beating three to four times per second. "Will the rate increase further as those skills level up?"
When the heart rate exceeds 180 beats per minute, the body undergoes a series of physiological changes in response to the increased demand for oxygen and nutrients. As the heart rate rises, the body’s demand for oxygen increases. The lungs work harder to supply oxygen-rich blood to the heart, which in turn pumps it to the rest of the body at a faster rate.
The heart pumps blood more forcefully to meet the body’s increased demand for oxygen. This can lead to a temporary increase in blood pressure as the blood vessels constrict to accommodate the higher volume of blood being circulated.
A heart rate exceeding 180 bpm can increase the risk of arrhythmias or irregular heartbeats. This can manifest as palpitations, fluttering sensations in the chest, or a feeling of skipping beats. In some cases, arrhythmias may be accompanied by dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting.
"I guess I should make my body get used to this and keep the skills activated," Rain thought. "I make a point to use all my mana, but I never focus on doing the same with my stamina, after all."
Rain did that for several days, and he didn’t notice any changes in his body... when he rested, he rested as much as the usual. Aside from seeing some steal leaving his body occasionally, nothing else happened, so he assumed that his body was strong enough.
At the same time, the others began to learn the Origin attack faster, and people like Sealyn and those closest to Rain and his family had already mastered the next level of the technique... unlike Rain’s version, they didn’t suffer that much through it since they used their weapons.
"It seems that the others want to talk," Elisabetha said. "I mean the other relics by that."
"What is the point of talking with them but not with everyone else at the same time?" Rain asked.
"Beats me," Elisabetha said.
It seemed that they had something difficult to say, and they only wanted to share it with Rain for now. Teleporting the relics all of a sudden without alerting everyone would raise some questions, but they would understand since Rain would only do that when the relics asked. Thanks to that and before not so long, all the relics were reunited in Rain’s pocket dimension.
"What is it?" Rain asked.
"It seems that everyone is ready for the next mission, but this one will be difficult since everyone is also willing to attack two of the machine gods at the same time," Sakaki explained. "We can assume that all of them will be on guard, so the infiltration will be harder. Not only that, the dragon god could join and make things even more difficult and chaotic. There is a high chance that this battle will lead to the final confrontation."
"The last three and most powerful machine gods probably will make their move immediately as they are the last ones behind..." Larisa said. "If they work together, it is kind of hard to imagine us winning after facing two of the machine gods and dealing with the dragon god as well."
"Attacking the enemy at their weakest is the basics of warfare, after all," Nigel said.
"Everyone is ready to go that far; the question is if we can win and pull it off before the enemies can try to make things turn in their favor," Maxime said.
"It would be easier if the other relics were with us..." Marie said. "We would be able to work together and show our true potential."
"How come? Are you guys going to turn into power rangers by staying together?" Rain asked.
"You never noticed that since you are always getting stronger, but our strength also increases when we are together," Elisabetha said. "With addition to the team, we got better."
"True, I never noticed that... that means something troublesome for you guys," Rain said and then chuckled.
"... Five of us are still missing," Victor said. "There are five machine gods left, but I don’t think that each one of them would have us. There is also the possibility that the dragon god found the others and did something to them."
