Journey to the West: I have Nine Golden Crows Inside Me-Chapter 132: Eighteen Levels of Buddha Hell
Chapter 132: Chapter 132: Eighteen Levels of Buddha Hell
However, when the Future Buddha Maitreya and the Medicine King Tathagata withdrew their gazes, a hint of chill flashed across their eyes.
The Sunlight Bodhisattva was their immediate junior disciple, and how could they not hate the Ancient Buddha Randeng for plotting against him?
This grudge was marked, they would find an opportunity to settle it in the future. At that time, a storm would arise again.
With the Jieyin Saint speaking personally, the matter of Buddha Hell was set in stone. All the Buddhas could neither object nor dared to object to it.
The West Journey affairs couldn’t disturb the Jieyin Saint, but the establishment of the Buddha Hell by the Mighty King Buddha made the old man personally issue a divine decree.
What does this show?
It shows that the founder of the Buddhist door, was quite dissatisfied with the current situation of Buddhism, and was determined to support the reforms of the Mighty King Buddha.
Many people might not know, the Two Saints of the West are men of great compassion. The teachings of Buddhism, based on compassion, were set by the two of them.
If the two of them did not have a compassionate heart, how could they make the forty-eight grand vows, carry all beings across the sea of suffering, and construct the Western Pure Land?
Bound by their grand vows, even as saints, they were not free. What were they striving for? They were striving to deliver all sentient beings.
Since the two saints were so compassionate, why was their reputation so bad? It was obviously because their methods were wrong.
Saving sentient beings is a good thing. But if you forcibly save them with magic power, you lose the original intent, and a good thing turns into a bad thing.
In the early years, for the sake of establishing the Western Pure Land as soon as possible, the two saints, Jieyin and Zhunti, used any means necessary.
Whenever they encountered a destined opportunity, they didn’t ask about the origin, good or bad, or consent, they would just forcibly save them with magical power.
Over time, how could the reputation of the two be good?
Eventually, as the Western teachings gradually gained ground, the problem of forcibly saving living beings came to light. The Western teachings were filled with a mix of good and bad, really a complete mess.
At this time, the Two Saints of the West awakened to the fact that they had been somewhat short-sighted before.
However, it’s too late to regret it now, they could only do their best to make amends.
Then came the matter of renaming the Western teaching as Buddhism.
At the beginning of the establishment of Buddhism, the Two Saints of the West felt they had made a big mistake, and with their faces lost, they could no longer lead the newly born Buddhism, so they handed over power and retired behind the scenes.
They originally thought that handing over Buddhism to the newcomers would give it a new look. But it turned out that they were wrong again. The Western teachings were so set in stone that even by becoming Buddhism, it was useless.
The bad precedents they had set in the early years, forcibly saving the destined ones, regardless of good or evil, and all living creatures, were all inherited by Buddhism and developed further.
Seeing the state of Buddhism, the hearts of the Two Saints of the West sank. But so what? Punish them? These were their teachings!
Even if they were to be punished, they should first punish themselves.
But how could a saint be wrong?
So, the Two Saints of the West could only watch as the Buddhist door fell step by step and they were left helpless.
However, just then, Jiang Chen’s appearance gave them a glimmer of hope for changing the Buddhist door. Even if it was just a glint, to the two saints who were almost desperate for the Buddhist door, it was a light of hope.
For this reason, the Jieyin Saint would support Jiang Chen without hesitation. He wanted to see what kind of change this variable could bring to the Buddhist door.
The situation was already so bad, it couldn’t get any worse.
So, they decided to give it a try.
...
...
The moment the voice of the Jieyin Saint fell, time and space seemed to freeze. The sweeping golden light stagnated in mid-air, and the figures of the Eight Groups were also fixed in place, unable to move.
In this place, the only one who could move was Jiang Chen.
Suddenly, an inexplicable power came down and blessed the Cintamani of Ksitigarbha in Jiang Chen’s hand. Then, an astonishing transformation happened.
The Cintamani of Ksitigarbha slowly rose from his hand, floated in mid-air, and emitted brilliant golden light.
This golden light was not Buddha’s light, but the light of merit. This was the Jieyin Saint making a move to re-refine the Cintamani of Ksitigarbha.
Under the refining of the saint, the merit light on the Cintamani of Ksitigarbha became brighter and brighter, and its momentum grew stronger and stronger. Soon, it broke through the postnatal spirit treasure level and entered the postnatal Merit Treasure level.
Whoosh...
The brilliant merit light flashed, and the Cintamani of Ksitigarbha officially advanced to the Postnatal Merit Treasure.
Refining a postnatal Merit Treasure was naturally a great challenge for Jiang Chen, but for a saint, it was just a matter of expending some merit.
But which saint would be short of merit?
Humming...
After upgrading to the postnatal merit, the Cintamani of Ksitigarbha suddenly began to vibrate violently, subtly showing faint images of eighteen worlds on its eighteen beads, exuding a peculiar aura.
Yes, that’s right. It felt peculiar.
If you look closely, you could see that the worlds appearing on the Cintamani of Ksitigarbha were much like the eighteen levels of hell.
This is the Buddha Hell!
The more terrifying the Buddha Hell is, the less likely anyone would want to enter. In this way, it served as a deterrent and kept the monks from breaking laws.
The purpose of establishing Buddha Hell was never to punish but to deter. This should not be misunderstood.
....
Boom Boom!
Above the Cintamani of Ksitigarbha, the eighteen layers of Buddha Hell grew larger, and gradually merged with the void, seemingly about to transform from illusion to reality, and truly come into being.
Unfortunately, perhaps due to insufficient power, the final step of transforming the imaginary to reality categorically failed.
At the crucial moment, the Sunlight Pearl flew in and transformed into tens of thousands of rays of light, integrating with the eighteen layers of Buddha Hell.
In a moment, the eighteen layers of Buddha Hell transitioned from an illusion to a reality. They were truly born, transformed into eighteen small Thousand Worlds and integrated into the ground beneath Jiang Chen’s feet, leaving no trace behind.
However, through Jiang Chen’s perception, the eighteen levels of Buddha Hell were clearly visible and appeared eerily disturbing.
Just look at these horrible scenes. What do we have here?
Nuclear Buddha Hell, where one suffers from blood tumors all over their bodies and grows extra limbs. Mirror Buddha Hell, where your bones and marrow are fully exposed with no privacy. Tongue-Pulling Buddha Hell, designed for those who talk too much. Knife Mountain Buddha Hell, where one is thrown onto a mountain full of swords and lancets. Fire Sea Buddha Hell, where one is boiled in hot oil. Ice Mountain Buddha Hell, where the freezing wind cuts to the bone. Magma Buddha Hell, where one is cleansed in thick, bubbling lava. Skin-Peeling Buddha Hell, where one’s skin is stripped off. Beast Buddha Hell, where one is trampled by livestock and bitten by wild dogs. Rock Mill Buddha Hell, where one is ground into meat paste. Steam Cage Buddha Hell, where one is steamed alive. Starving Buddha Hell, where one starves to death as vultures circle about. Iron Tree Buddha Hell, where silver hooks and iron ropes are used to hang and gut individuals. Acid Pool Buddha Hell, where bodies are dissolved to the bone. Thousand Sting Buddha Hell, filled with snakes, insects, rats and ants. Cauldron-Heating Buddha Hell, where one is exposed to a forest of burning copper pillars. Dark Buddha Hell, where one cannot see their fingers before their eyes and remains alone for a thousand years. Death Buddha Hell, where cruel and violent figures come to seek vengeance.
