Joyful Motherhood in a Rural Family-Chapter 1039 - 1038: But It’s Alright to Talk about It
Chapter 1039: Chapter 1038: But It’s Alright to Talk about It
Thinking about the grievances she had suffered today, even though Liu Sisi knew full well that Di Yelei was not related to the matter, she still felt a touch of resentment in her heart.
Di Yelei was unaware of what was going through Liu Sisi’s mind. After wolfing down his meal, he put down his bowl and chopsticks, rinsed out his mouth, took a handkerchief to wipe his lips, and then stood up, "I’ve eaten my fill, I’m going to take a bath, I’m all greasy with sweat."
Having said that, he got up, pushed back his chair, made his way around the table, and headed toward the bathroom.
"Di Yelei, is there something you want to say to me?"
Seeing that his figure was about to disappear, Liu Sisi hurriedly called out.
Di Yelei turned back, a flash of surprise crossing his face, then he denied, "Say what? I have nothing to say."
"Fine! Remember, you said that yourself."
Liu Sisi’s stubbornness flared up too! A rush of anger surged upwards, and she turned around to give Di Yelei the cold shoulder, no longer paying him any heed.
Guilty conscious in tow, Di Yelei did not linger and turned to enter the bathroom.
After a while, Liu Sisi heard no sound from behind her. She whirled around but saw no trace of him. She hurried to her feet, only to hear the sound of water coming from the bathroom, and her fury rose even higher!
Fine! When things came to a head, he actually gave her the cold shoulder? Did he really think she, Liu Sisi, was easy to talk to and could be molded however he pleased?
At this thought, Liu Sisi got angry too!
She rolled up the account book in her hand and went straight to Di Ying’s place.
She had made up her mind, she would stay in Di Ying’s room tonight, to avoid seeing his face which would only fuel her temper!
The jolt from the hot water reminded Di Yelei of Liu Sisi’s earlier discontented expression. His mind quickly deduced the source of her anger, and he then shook his head and chuckled wryly to himself. He realized he had made such a basic mistake; it was truly damnable.
He would have to find a good excuse to explain himself later when he went out.
However, by the time he emerged from the bathroom, the house was already devoid of anyone; that little woman had taken an assortment of account books and left.
Liu Sisi had a clever plan in mind. She would use these account books as an excuse, saying she was going to teach YingEr how to check the accounts, and when it got late, she would simply stay there for the night. Only when she arrived at YingEr’s did she realize that not only was Zhang Yun there, but so was Di Xuan.
She had intended to go out for a breath of fresh air but ended up facing Di Xuan directly, a result Liu Sisi had not anticipated at all.
"Mom, what are you doing here? Come on in, we were just having a late-night snack. Would you like some?"
Di Ying was particularly overjoyed; the entire family had gathered to keep her company tonight, an occurrence that hadn’t happened in a long while, hadn’t it?
As she spoke, she grabbed Liu Sisi’s wrist and led her to the table.
There were many dishes laid out on the table, and outside, three pageboys were attending, tending to the barbecue stand, and soon enough, grilled food was brought over.
"It looks delicious, but I’m not sure about the taste."
Liu Sisi chuckled lightly, directly picking up a skewer and observing it for a moment. The color on the grilled skewers was tantalizing, stimulating one’s appetite. She took a bite and immediately, the fragrant aroma filled her senses. That reminded her she had been busy earlier and seemed to have not eaten much food. Suddenly feeling her appetite swell, she quickly finished off the last bite of grilled meat.
"How is it, Mom? Tell me what you think," Di Ying asked with a playful glint in her eyes, squinting with delight at Liu Sisi, and smiled!
"There was quite a lot of leftovers in the kitchen today, so I thought of putting them to good use. So I had everyone grill the meat to eat, never expecting it to be this delicious. Mom, you should try these two skewers."
She picked up one of the skewers in her hand and immediately put it into Liu Sisi’s mouth.
Liu Sisi was enjoying her meal greatly, but Di Xuan and Zhang Yun, who stood on the edge, suffered. It wasn’t until Liu Sisi accidentally met their gaze that she turned her head. "You should serve your two brothers first, I’m not hungry yet. Just wanted to taste."
Di Xuan and Zhang Yun were both somewhat at a loss for what to do or how to respond.
"Mom, you eat first. Xuan’er and Brother Zhang Yun have already had quite a bit, they won’t be hungry."
Di Ying handed over several more skewers of grilled meat. Liu Sisi reluctantly ate two skewers, then gestured that she didn’t want any more.
"This grilled meat can cause ’fire’. You shouldn’t eat too much. When you eat, remember to drink some herbal tea to avoid discomfort later."
Liu Sisi seemed to be making conversation for the sake of it.
Beside her, Di Xuan also appeared very constrained, his fists clenched tightly and full of sweat. He wanted to say something but didn’t know where to start.
"Mom, I..." freewebnσvel.cѳm
"Ah! Right, there was something I just forgot."
Almost at the same moment Di Xuan began to speak, Liu Sisi spoke up too, effectively cutting off Di Xuan’s words in his throat.
Liu Sisi seemed oblivious. "I originally came here to teach YingEr how to manage affairs, but I got caught up in the taste and forgot about business."
Di Ying glanced at Di Xuan, whose words had remained unspoken, and with a quick roll of her eyes, she moved closer and hugged Liu Sisi’s arm. "Mom, what is this important matter? It’s not going to be looking through the accounts and doing calculations again, is it? Ah? Please no!"
"Stop fooling around, YingEr, be obedient...alright, alright, since you’ve decided, we won’t study tonight, we’ll talk about it later."
After all, her goal was to stay here for one night, so it didn’t matter if it was later.
Di Xuan took a few steps forward, trying again to explain. "Mom, Xuan’er was thinking..."
"What are you thinking? Speak freely."
Liu Sisi interrupted him, her eyes fixed intently on him.
Di Xuan was choked up, the well-prepared words he intended to express now stubbornly stuck, his mouth moving a few times before realizing there seemed to be nothing good to say.
"Xuan’er, you want to tell Third Aunt about your engagement to Prefecture Princess Luo, right? Hahaha... Congratulations! You’ve finally got your heart’s desire!"
Zhang Yun, seeing Di Xuan struggling to articulate his thoughts, hurriedly took the lead in speaking while simultaneously winking and making gestures to Di Xuan.
To successfully win the beauty, who wouldn’t be envious and jealous?
Di Xuan found it difficult to respond, whether he answered yes or no, it was a dilemma.
"That’s right, Mom, Xuan’er has something he wants to discuss with you privately."
Finally regaining control of his words, Di Xuan spoke before Liu Sisi could interrupt him again.
Liu Sisi looked at him deeply, considered for a moment, and then glanced at the two people in the center of the scene before nodding her head. "What kind of words can’t you say in front of everyone? Why the secrecy, as if you’re hiding something!"
"Mom, please, Xuan’er is begging you!"
A plea appeared in the depths of Di Xuan’s eyes, finally causing ripples in Liu Sisi’s heart as still as an ancient well, softening her stance.
"Let’s go! Talk about it over there."
Speaking, she took the lead and got up, heading to a spot with no cover around.
