Kiss the Scumbag-Chapter 30
"Yujin."
Winston called his name. When Yujin hesitated and slowly lifted his head, his eyes met the man's gaze looking down at him. The arm that had been wrapped around his waist loosened, as if acknowledging that Yujin wouldn't try to run away anymore. Still holding him with one arm, Winston brought the other to Yujin's face, gently cupping his chin and brushing his thumb across his lower lip. He stared at Yujin's lips with eyes full of longing, as if he truly, desperately wanted to kiss him.
Yujin felt the same. More than anything, his body had been aroused for a while now, to the point it throbbed. Maybe Winston was at his limit, too. If they kissed now, would this man try to sleep with him here?
"Do you remember, Yujin?"
Winston whispered. There was no need to ask what he was referring to. Yujin opened his mouth, but his voice was hoarse, barely more than a breath as he answered.
"Yeah."
They had once rolled around here, naked, like the first humans beneath a sky full of clover.
Yujin tilted his head. Winston only needed to make the slightest effort to kiss him. Just a bit of pressure with the hand holding Yujin’s head would be enough. Their breath met, and when Yujin lowered his eyelids and met Winston’s gaze through half-lidded eyes—
"If you want something, you have to pay the price."
At the low whisper, Winston paused. Feeling his reaction through their pressed bodies, Yujin continued.
"If you want to sleep with me, pay the fee. Then I’ll have sex with you."
He spoke as if offering some great favor, and lifted his head. This time, Winston didn’t try to hold him. Yujin hastily pulled away and got up; Winston followed slowly.
The sweet atmosphere from moments ago had vanished without a trace. In awkward silence, they glared at each other. Yujin wondered what Winston would say next—but there was no time for that. A child’s voice called out from afar.
"Daddy, Daddy!"
The mood flipped instantly. Yujin froze. Winston’s face also stiffened. He couldn’t let the child and Winston meet. If Winston even slightly suspected something after seeing the child, it would be over. Yujin was about to flee the scene, but fortunately Winston moved first.
"Shouldn’t you go? Your precious child is calling for you."
Winston mimicked Yujin’s earlier sarcasm as he mounted his horse. So he’s leaving, Yujin thought in relief—but it was too soon. Turning his horse, Winston added one last jab.
"I’m looking forward to it—how the service changes depending on the fee."
He left those mocking words behind and rode off. Staring after the receding shadow, Yujin was snapped back by the child’s voice.
"Daddy, look! There’s a bird house!"
"It’s called a nest, Angie."
Seeing the girl bounce with joy at the messy clump tucked under the eaves, Yujin gently taught her the word. Thank god. Angela showed up at just the right time.
If she’d come just a bit earlier.
Yujin shivered involuntarily at the chilling thought.
"Daddy?"
Angela must have sensed something strange. She called out to him. Yujin quickly composed himself and patted her head as if everything was fine.
"Did you see everything? Was there anything else you wanted to look at?"
"There’s a squirrel family inside! There’s this big hole in the tree, and I saw them sleeping inside..."
The girl started excitedly sharing everything she had discovered. Yujin listened to her chatter with a smile, but he couldn’t stop his thoughts from drifting in one direction.
Two weeks from now.
A chill ran down his spine. The wheel had begun to turn. Stopping it was no longer an option. All Yujin could do was hope it spun as planned.
Think about something good. You’ve got money coming now.
He forced his spiraling thoughts into something more positive. According to the will, while he stayed here, Winston would provide for him generously. He’d even said he’d give him a checkbook. That alone was a relief.
Once I get the money, I’ll buy clothes for the child first.
He wanted to get Angela all the things he hadn’t been able to give her. She had never once lived in comfort.
She’ll be so happy.
"Daddy?"
Lost in the happy thought, he hugged his daughter tightly. She called him with a puzzled look. Yujin smiled, kissed her cheek, and asked,
"Why don’t we eat sandwiches and talk about what you want? One thing at a time."
"Yeah, okay!"
Angela nodded without hesitation. It was a game they often played—pretend shopping with imaginary money. She probably thought it was just that. But this time was different. Yujin truly wanted to give her everything she wanted.
It’s almost time.
Feeding the sandwich to his daughter, Yujin listened to her stories with a satisfied smile. Birds chirped occasionally in the forest, and a gentle bell echoed softly through the landscape.
Several people had gathered in the spacious drawing room. Everyone in the Campbell family was there except for Winston, all wearing grim expressions as they sat scattered around, glancing at each other warily.
"Is it true Winston /N_o_v_e_l_i_g_h_t/ actually married that bastard? And even had a kid with him?"
The eldest son, Gordon, finally snapped. Madam Campbell replied with a stiff face.
"What have you even been listening to? I explained everything, didn’t I?"
"Well, yes, but still."
Gordon backed off awkwardly. This time, Lady Katherine spoke up.
"Even so! How could you just let it happen like that? You should’ve opposed it more strongly!"
Her voice was thick with resentment. Madam Campbell shot her daughter a piercing glare. When Lady Katherine faltered, she finally responded in a stern tone.
"Has Winston ever taken back anything he said? Once he’s made up his mind, who’s going to stop him?"
"But still..."
Lady Katherine trailed off, unable to let go of her lingering regret. Ignoring her daughter, Madam Campbell looked around at her gathered children and declared,
"The only way we can claim the inheritance is through this. Don’t you see Winston made a sacrifice for all of us? So keep your mouths shut if you’re not going to help."
Under their mother’s harsh rebuke, everyone fell silent. She wasn’t wrong. Thanks to Winston’s resolve, they’d all get their inheritance. Keeping quiet wasn’t such a hard price to pay.
But what really made their stomachs turn was something else. That the one he married was that filthy whore.
"Mother, even so, are you really okay with this?"
"What do you mean?"
Madam Campbell frowned at Gordon’s question. He studied her face and carefully continued.
"If it’s like this, then Yujin—or rather, that thing’s child will inherit the Campbell family. It’ll be Winston’s child. Are you really fine with that?"
It was the question everyone had feared to ask. As anxious glances darted about the room, Madam Campbell finally spoke.
"Don’t worry. I’ve thought about that too."
"How?"
Lady Katherine gasped. Madam Campbell calmly looked around the room as if to gather their attention, then said,
"The simplest way is to wait until the inheritance is secured after a year, and then get rid of the child. There are plenty of orphanages in the world."
The will said nothing about the child’s future. As far as she was concerned, the child’s role ended at birth. She continued.
"After that, Winston can remarry Evelyn and have a proper child. Then everything will be resolved, won’t it?"
Seeing their expressions finally brighten, she offered a faint smile.
"So don’t worry. We just need that thing to get pregnant."
"As expected of Mother—you’ve already thought of everything."
Gordon laughed out loud. The other siblings followed suit. With a satisfied look, Madam Campbell sipped her tea.
"But Mother, is there another option too?"
Lady Katherine suddenly asked. As Madam Campbell looked at her, she gave a sheepish smile.
"You said it was the easiest way, so I wondered if there’s a Plan B. It might be good to have one."
Setting her teacup down gently, Madam Campbell smiled faintly. Everyone turned their attention to her, full of expectation, as she began to speak in a calm voice.
And under the clear sky, that day finally approached.
