Kiss the Scumbag-Chapter 41
Yujin froze at the unexpected words, his expression blank. It was already shocking enough that the man had shown up like that — but what was he even saying?
“What about you? Just showing up out of nowhere like this.”
Yujin kept his voice low so as not to wake his daughter, but Winston paid no attention. He stared Yujin down and growled darkly.
“Running off without permission — did you forget what was in the contract? Want me to spell it out for you?”
Yujin had no idea why he was so angry. Furious now himself, he couldn’t hold back and snapped.
“So what, is fucking you not enough? I’m supposed to sleep beside you, too?”
Winston flinched. For a moment, silence fell. He opened his mouth, staring at Yujin’s face, eyes blazing with emotion — but instead of replying, he scoffed like he couldn’t believe what he’d heard.
“Fine. Let’s say that’s true.”
Yujin wanted to ask why he was brushing it off, but Winston spoke first.
“How the hell did you even find a place like this? I didn’t even know this kind of room existed in my house. Did you really think I wouldn’t find you hiding here?”
Yujin was on edge, terrified Angela would wake up and see this. But Winston didn’t care. Of course he didn’t. Who could stop Winston Campbell from doing anything he wanted?
“Hiding? Me?”
Yujin laughed bitterly, incredulous.
“Am I wrong?”
Winston squinted, scanning the room deliberately. Not that it took long. The space was so small he was done in under three seconds, his gaze landing back on Yujin’s face — full of accusation. As if daring him to speak.
Which he did, plenty.
“We’ve been staying in this room since the day we got here. So what are you even talking about?”
Winston faltered for the first time.
“...What?”
There was a pause before he spoke. He looked genuinely confused, like he had no idea what Yujin was saying. But Yujin wasn’t buying it.
“We’ve been staying here since the start. Of course I came back here. Oh, you didn’t know? Well, now you do. Bye.”
It was clearly a dismissal — but Winston didn’t budge. His eyes swept the room again, more slowly this time. Still didn’t take more than a few seconds.
“Don’t tell me you think I personally shoved you into this storage room.”
Even if it wasn’t deliberate, wasn’t it the same as ignoring it? The thought crossed his mind, but honestly, it didn’t matter. The only thing that mattered now was Angela.
“Don’t care.”
“Don’t care?”
Winston repeated Yujin’s cold words. Yujin scowled and nodded.
“I think we’re done talking. Can you leave? She’s sleeping.”
He deliberately glanced down at Angela. Winston followed his gaze and saw Yujin still cupping the girl’s ears with both hands. His expression darkened.
“Get out here. We’re not done.”
His voice was quiet, low — maybe because of the child. He was obviously trying to hold his temper, but Yujin didn’t move.
“I said come out here before I drag you out myself.”
Winston growled through clenched teeth. His eyes flashed — literally — turning gold. Yujin felt goosebumps ripple across his skin.
Then Angela stirred. Her body jolted, and she slowly opened her eyes.
“Daddy?”
Yujin flinched and looked down to see her sitting up, rubbing sleep from her eyes.
“A-Angie.”
His hands were still over her ears — he didn’t know what to do. Before he could explain anything, Angela looked around groggily and accidentally locked eyes with Winston.
“Angie, uh, so, that’s...”
Panicking, Yujin tried to explain, but nothing came to mind. Desperate, he mumbled whatever he could.
“Angie, he’s the owner of this house. You should say hello. Mr. Campbell. Go on.”
He gently wrapped an arm around her waist and started to bow her body forward — but then he noticed something strange. Angela wasn’t responding.
“Angie?”
Before he could ask what was wrong, she suddenly burst into tears and flung herself into Yujin’s arms.
“Daddy, Daddy, waaah!”
“Angie...”
He tried to pull her into a hug — but unexpectedly, she clung to his body and ducked behind him.
Huh?
Startled, Yujin reached to pull her back into his arms, but Angela resisted with all her strength, hiding behind him and sobbing louder. Why was she doing this?
Just as he was about to try again, he stopped. Angela was trembling violently, staring in one direction from where she clung to his waist.
There was no mistaking it — she was looking at Winston.
Yujin slowly turned his head and locked eyes with him. Winston looked just as stunned — but it was clear he realized it too. The child was crying because of him.
“Get out. You’re scaring her.”
Yujin’s voice was firm and cold. Winston’s brow furrowed deeply, but he didn’t move.
“I said get out! Shut the door and disappear! Now!”
His voice rose in forced anger, and finally, Winston let out a breath — half laugh, half disbelief — and said,
“This conversation isn’t over. We’ll talk again soon.”
He ground the words out like a warning, turned, and grabbed the doorknob. Yujin braced himself, but thankfully the door closed with a quiet click. Just that alone — the fact that Winston didn’t slam it — made Yujin feel oddly grateful.
Now that they were finally alone, Yujin wrapped his arms around the girl still clinging to his shirt.
“He’s gone now, it’s okay. You can come out.”
He soothed her with a voice even gentler than usual, and this time she came out without resistance.
“Daddy.”
“Yeah.”
Angela sniffled as she called him and wrapped her arms around his neck. Hugging her tight and patting her back, Yujin asked carefully,
“What happened, sweetheart? Did you have a bad dream?”
Angela shook her head.
“No... it was the smell...”
“Huh? Smell?”
He tilted his head, confused, and looked at her. Angela finally pulled back and looked at him.
“Didn’t you smell it, Daddy? It was really, really sweet. Not like cookies, and not like cake either... but a super sweet smell. I think it came from Mr. Campbell...”
Pheromones.
Yujin instantly understood. He couldn’t smell them himself, but Angela had no issue with it — she had definitely picked it up.
But to be so scared she trembled like that...
Maybe it was because he was an omega, but Yujin had never felt fear when catching Winston’s scent in the past. On the contrary — his pheromones had made Yujin feel so good he had wanted to breathe more of it in.
So why now?
Then it hit him. The moment Angela woke up — it was when Winston’s eyes had turned gold.
That’s when Yujin realized. It wasn’t just the scent — it was the pheromones charged with rage that woke Angela. Pheromones could lure a partner — but they could also be used as a weapon. Winston’s rage-saturated scent had terrified her.
If only I could smell it too... this wouldn’t have happened.
The realization gnawed at him. How could he not have noticed? He saw the color change in Winston’s eyes. Even if he couldn’t smell it, he could’ve read the signs. Idiot. Stupid idiot.
“It’s okay now, Angie. Nothing’s going to happen anymore.”
It infuriated him that that was all he could say. But there was nothing else he could do. All he could offer her was a tight embrace, holding her close until she calmed down.
It was late in the afternoon when the butler came to the room and informed them they would be moving to new quarters.
