Chapter 74 - Walls of Blitzfeld(Alea Side Story)

The hallways stretched wide and far. A high, vaulted ceiling loomed overhead, supported by thick stone columns with straight lines carved on them. The pristine white walls were panelled with polished dark oak, broken only by windows with red veils.

Glasses mounted onto the columns with glowing stones inside them act as a light source for the servants and people who pass.

Two people walked down the hallway, their footsteps resounding on the cold marble floor. One was a man who seemed to be around his late 40s, he wore an olive coat over his cream tunic that framed a strong, muscular body. Black trousers covered his strong legs, tightening around the calves.

He had wheat-blond hair flowing amicably behind his shoulders. A face both hard and sharp, framed by a beard and moustache of the same light hue. His eyes were lustre with an amethyst shade, bearing the weight of his cold legacy.

Beside him walked a little girl. She looked to be around nine or ten years old, her head barely reaching the waistline of the man. The girl had blonde hair but a darker shade than that of the man.

Her eyes glowed with a shade of bluish-green. She wore a small white dress laced with patterns of flowers. Her face, instead of holding a smile or a frown, held a rather indifferent look as if the world did not matter to her.

"Alea," The girl lifted her head to meet the gaze of the man who walked alongside her.

"Yes, Father?" She replied. Her voice was controlled and polite, unlike the children her age.

"How is your training going?"

"It is going well, Father," She replied, to which the man did not say anything. He only acknowledged her words.

Their footsteps continued at a steady pace. The maids who were standing bowed instantly when they spotted the two. Their lips parted to greet them. "It is good to see you, Your Excellency and Lady Alea."

Friedrich and Alea did not acknowledge them, they kept moving forward as if they had somewhere important to be.

"Take this, you ugly pig!"

Crackle!

A voice echoed in the hallway, followed by the crackling of lightning as if someone was chanting a spell.

[Lightning Bolt]

Zap!

"AAAAAAAAGH!" A guttural scream tore through the quiet halls, catching Alea and Friedrich's attention.

"He is at it again, huh?" Friedrich mumbled to himself as he walked towards the source of the scream. Alea followed right behind her father.

Friedrich stopped in front of a door laced with straight carvings near the edges. He turned knob, clicking the door open to the room and stepped inside.

The air in the room smelled of ozone. Alea's eyes locked onto the two figures that were in the room, not acknowledging the third.

One was standing—He had wheat-blonde hair elegantly trimmed, his eyes were those of an emerald that was filled with shock upon seeing her and her father. He wore a normal white shirt with black trousers. His hand extended as if just cast a spell.

Alea's eyes then drifted to the boy who trembled below him, eyes shut. His hands curling into his unkempt wheat-blonde hair. His tunic, stained and covering a frame of bloated flesh, had a black stain on the arms as if burned by something.

"Father—I—" The one with emerald eyes started to speak, his voice wavering.

"What happened here, Ikaris?" Friedrich demanded, his cold voice making the eleven-year-old shudder beneath him. He shifted his gaze to the young one, who was the same age as Alea.

"What happened here?" He repeated his question to Ikaris, who was still fumbling with his words.

"Father—He—This pig started accusing me of harassing that maid!" He pointed at the maid beside him, a young girl with hair as black as a raven. She was wearing a black gown with a white apron over—A servant's dress. "But I did not do anything, you can ask that maid if you want to!"

Alea narrowed her gaze on the young girl who was only a few years older than them. Her eyes were teary, her gown drifting off her shoulder.

Her hands were tightly wrapped around her frame. It was clear that Ikaris had tried to assault her, but she knew the truth: her father would always side with him. Her knuckles tightened but she did not speak.

As he was now the heir to the Blitzfelds.

"Fath—Sir," The boy that trembled below called out, his silver eyes now flickering with darkness. "He is—He is lying, I saw him." He lifted his head, cheeks grazed with bruises. "He tried to force himself on her... Mara, please tell him the truth."

Friedrich did not say anything, he only looked at the poor girl who stood there sobbing. "What is this thing saying—Is it true?" He asked as he took slow, controlled steps towards the young girl. His shadow loomed over her.

The young servant looked towards the floor, avoiding Friedrich's intimidating gaze. Her lips parted in words that were dreadful to the young man who tried to defend her.

"No, Your Excellency... Young M—master Ikaris did not harm me in any way p—possible." Her voice broke, but she managed the words out somehow.

"I see," Friedrich leaned back, his eyes now shifting to the young one on the floor. "You lied to me again, Noah?" He asked, his voice sharp. "You did this in the case of Michael's relinquishment, too, did you not?"

The boy shuddered, his arms shaking as he tried to pick himself up, only to be kicked down by the other one. "Answer him! You pig!" Ikaris shouted, pounding his foot onto the young man's head.

"Enough!" Friedrich shouted, stopping Ikaris's assault on the poor boy. "Don't waste your time with him." He simply stated, moving towards the door. Alea followed after him like a dog tied to its owner's leash.

They stepped into the hallway, the door still open behind them, where the sound of lightning crackling again could be heard.

"Father, you won't stop him?" Alea asked, walking beside him now.

"No," Friedrich replied, his fingers curling into a tight fist. "Let him be, that cursed child deserves to suffer for what he has taken. He deserves all of it because he is weak."

Alea stared at her father's twisted expression and simply nodded in agreement as they walked down the hallway. "I won't be weak, Father."

Alea's eyes fluttered open to a new and unfamiliar white ceiling. Her back felt the comfort of a soft mattress. A sharp ache ran along the area of her shoulder, making her wince.

Did he just... Knock me out with a simple bolt of lightning?

Her teeth clenched as she tried to sit up. Her eyes darted around the room before—White walls with a marble floor and a table near her. But her eyes locked onto another figure who was sitting in the chair next to her bed.

The young man with light blonde hair was cutting an apple, although his cuts were rather bad, as if he had never touched a knife. He looked up, his emerald eyes landing on Alea, and a small smile played at his lips. "Dear sister, you are alive, huh?"

"Elder Brother Ikaris?" Alea blurted out, surprised. He was never someone to take care of people.

"Yes, it is me." He put the apple back on the table. His fingers were playing with the knife. "Thought I visit my little sister. After all, I was concerned about her well being..." He smiled again lazily.

"So, I heard you got knocked out by that piggy?"

"How did—"

"Words travel faster than the wind, little sister... After all, it is the way of the nobles to spew useless chatter." He stood up from his seat, making his way to the door. "But still, I am disappointed in you. Losing to that weakling? What a joke you made yourself out to be."

Alea's jaw tightened, but she did not argue back. She stared at his departing figure.

He turned the knob and slightly opened the before halting. Glancing over his shoulder towards Alea, he advised. "I think you should talk with our father about this. After all, you finally found the most useful trash but just failed to bring it back."

"What are you going to do?" Alea asked, looking at him coldly.

"Nothing, I am just gonna watch. I am not some fool to destroy myself over a useless pawn that should've been discarded the day it was born." He smirked before heading out and closing the door, leaving Alea alone.

She stared at the door for a while before clenching her fists and deciding.

"I will talk with Father..."
