The black SUV sped forward, and Reesi turned to look back in a hurry when she heard Luo An's words.

"No need to panic."

Seeing Reesi's nervousness, Luo An explained:

"Half of them are our own people."

"?"

Reesi looked puzzled, and Luo An pointed to a Buick sedan not far behind them and chuckled:

"People from the Monitoring Department."

Just now, regarding the division of gains after this case, Luo An and Horst had a friendly exchange and finally decided to split fifty-fifty.

However, one of the reasons Horst agreed to this allocation was because Luo An still had a clue concerning the ultimate criminal mastermind behind the scenes.

If Horst could arrest the person before Luo An, he could refuse the fifty-fifty split and renegotiate with Luo An.

Therefore, as soon as Luo An left the scene, Horst immediately sent someone to tail them by car.

Luo An, who had long been aware of the tail, wasn't displeased with Horst's actions—if he were in Horst's shoes, he would do the same.

After all, mere face was not as important as actual benefits in hand.

"OK."

Understanding the identity of the other party, Reesi sat back in the passenger seat and relaxed, then asked:

"What do you plan to do?

It's a bit far from here to the target location; it's impractical to go without driving. The area is also somewhat congested, and it might not be easy to shake them off."

"Don't worry, I'm prepared."

Luo An gave Reesi a reassuring look, then turned the steering wheel, driving the SUV onto another road.

The Buick behind them hurriedly followed.

But just after turning at the intersection, the two agents in the Buick saw the SUV parked by the roadside.

After getting out and searching in detail, the two agents from the Monitoring Department gave each other an ugly look and took out their phones to call Horst:

"Sorry, boss, we've failed..."

On the other side, following Luo An's instructions, Reesi, who had changed into a new set of clothes, looked at the Special Investigation Team's second SUV in front of her, and said with surprise:

"Luo An, when did you prepare this car?"

"It was dumped ahead."

This SUV was the same one that Luo An left at home with the steak earlier, purposely abandoned near the large shopping mall.

After Luo An and Reesi got out of the first SUV, he led her quickly through several streets, entered the large shopping mall through a side entrance, and eventually ended up at the parking lot where the second SUV was.

Luo An wasn't worried about whether the two agents from the Monitoring Department tracking him would discover this point.

After the two agents failed to tail the parking lot SUV, it was highly probable that Horst wouldn't assign this tailing mission to them again.

The agents responsible for the second tailing probably wouldn't know about the SUV parked ahead, and before Horst could inform them, Luo An would have already driven away from the mall.

"Cool."

Sitting in the passenger seat, Reesi smiled at Luo An after listening to his explanation. As the car continued to move forward, she asked again:

"Luo An, you haven't answered my previous question.

Which of the three officials responsible for auditing the foundation's disbursements is the real criminal mastermind?"

"Naturally, it's the one who is most closely connected to the money and who is short of it himself."

Luo An handed his phone to Reesi, which contained information about an official Mona had identified who had numerous contacts with SWAT leaders, Homeland Security Department leaders, and Criminal Justice Department leaders.

————

At a private airplane hangar in North Los Angeles, a gaunt, white-haired white male in his fifties or sixties sat in the waiting area, staring out the window expressionlessly.

On the surface, he seemed calm, but his continuously rubbing fingers betrayed his inner anxiety.

Beside the grizzled white man stood four robust men in suits.

Lifting his hand to check his watch, the grizzled white man turned his head and asked in a raspy voice:

"How much longer until the pilots are in place?"

"…"

Just as the suited man standing beside the white-haired man was about to reply, a male laugh suddenly came from the door of the waiting area not far away:

"It would've taken another minute, but three minutes ago, my agents called the pilots and told them to go home and rest."

Seeing the man and woman approaching him from not far away, the white-haired man narrowed his eyes and stood up:

"Deputy Group Leader of the Special Investigation Team, Luo An Greenwood."

"I'm surprised my name has spread so far, truly astonishing."

The newcomers were indeed Luo An and Reesi. Approaching the four robust men in suits, Luo An chuckled:

"Good evening, Deputy Director of the Information Management Department of the FBI Los Angeles Branch, Alexander Harries."

This Deputy Director of the Information Management Department was one of the main officials responsible for overseeing the disbursement audit of foundation funds.

Under his manipulation and exchange of interests, the other two officials responsible for the audit work had only the name of supervision without the actual power anymore.

Patting the robust man in a suit to make way, Alexander approached Luo An with a small smile tugging at the corners of his eyes:

"I wonder what matter brings Deputy Group Leader Greenwood to see me today?"

"Just a trivial matter, very simple."

Luo An said his catchphrase nonchalantly and smiled:

"It's just that you used your position to steal money from the FBI agents and SWAT members' disability retirement fund, the incident has occurred, so I'm here to ask you to come back to headquarters to assist the investigation."

Alexander kept his composure:

"Deputy Group Leader Greenwood, spreading rumors and slandering can have legal consequences."

"We've already secured the evidence."

"Evidence can be fabricated too."

"That's something you can take up with the group in the Monitoring Department afterwards."

Luo An choose to pass the buck decisively, not bothering to waste more words with the opposition, crossed his arms, fists cracking, and asked with a smile:

"I wonder which procedure does Director Alexander plan to follow?

Should I beat up your four men with my fists first then you come with me; or do you skip this step and just come with me directly?"

The nearly sixty-year-old Alexander, seeing this, flinched and stepped back.

Seeing this, the four men in suits grimaced fiercely, crossed their hands over their crackling fists, and stepped forward.

On Luo An's side, there were just him and Reesi, but they faced four men. Alexander was confident of this round and chuckled:

"I've long heard about Deputy Group Leader Greenwood's extraordinary skills, this time…"

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

Before Alexander could finish speaking, Luo An swiftly drew his gun from behind and pulled the trigger at the thighs of the four robust white men.

The second after the four subordinates wailed and fell to the ground, Reesi quickly pulled handcuffs from behind and clasped Alexander's hands in an instant.

"…"

Alexander's smile on his face stiffened, everything happened too quickly for him to react.

"What era is it, to use fists instead of guns?"

Luo An intentionally ignored the four men on the ground accusing him of lacking martial virtue for ambushing, pretending as if he'd fight them with fists, and approached Alexander with a smile:

"You didn't really believe that I would actually compete in hand-to-hand combat with those four, then be caught off-guard and knocked to the ground, eventually allowing you to escape smoothly, did you? Surely not?"

Hearing this, Alexander's face turned red and white in turns, and he was almost beside himself with anger.

Waving his hand to Reesi, who was covering her mouth to hide a snicker, indicating her to quickly take Alexander away, Luo An then took out his phone to call Mona:

"How are things on the side of the Monitoring Department?"
