Life Of A Nobody - as a Villain-Chapter 472: The limiters
"Enough jumping around, bug."
Rio watched as the warzy general ignored the people getting slaughtered by Finn and Esme, and directly appeared on a distant ship.
His hands clasped at empty air, pulling the threads of space, before ripping it open and pulling Amy out.
"Your head is trending on the market. I'm gonna go viral with your death." The general mocked as he easily parried Amy's attacks and slapped her with a backhand.
Knocking her down to the ground.
Amy kicked her legs, before jumping back up. Her eyes still gleaming in that madness so much so that her survival instinct simply disappeared.
She swung her blade in a way which left behind a flurry of afterimages like beats of a melodious rhythm. Yet the general's eyes followed each trail, saw through every faint, and easily solved any strike that came close.
But the more this happened, the more madness seemed to be born inside Amy's eyes. Her mind was completely taken over by anger, and soon, wisps of chaos started to swirl around her blade, and a crown, made out of red mist appeared on her forehead.
"Die.. die.. die.. all of you will die."
Amy kept muttering the words for wishing death like a hungry ghost.
Her aura and appearance, creeping even the warzy general, who simply stopped playing around, and started fighting seriously.
Though the sudden waves of chaos caused him pain, and offset his will for a couple of seconds, Amy failed to land any solid hits in that time. — which obviously only made the general even more angry.
"Fucking bitch." The general cursed as he stared at his bleeding arm while glaring at Amy as he grabbed her wrists, planning to break her hands to make her drop the blade.
But before he could do that, another shout interrupted his attack.
"Keep your dirty hands _ Off My Master."
Erza's shout echoed in the air as she broke through the assassins blocking her path and swung her whip at the general's head. Aiming to pull it straight off his shoulders.
Only for that man to dodge sideways and grab it by the hand.
"Don't interfere when the adults are talking, slave." The general said as he pulled the whip. Flinging Erza upside down by force, before flashing in front of her, and kicking her in the guts.
Rio watched as a sharp dagger appeared at the general's shoe tip, right before the kick landed. And how it pierced through Erza's armor and ripped her ribcage open.
"Glurghh"
The bloodthirsty vampire watched as her own blood splashed on the ground, forming a pool beneath her feet.
She ignored the pain and gritted her teeth, while forcing her body to stand up, _ only to feel the land shift and shake under her shoes _ before her vision started to get blurry and body started losing balance.
She shook her head in struggle, trying to get her drifting senses back under control _ but with her overdrawn body and constant blood loss , the poison in her system only worked faster and faster.
"Erzaaa."
Esme's scream echoed in the environment as she watched her sister fall to the ground.
"Arghhh Warrrzzziiiii." Esme screamed in anger as she started to slash her sword in anger.
Erza's fall seemed to have reminded her of the last time Warzy took someone precious away from her.
And Rio watched as his always calm and composed shadow, simply gave in to her bloodthirsty nature.
Her eyes shone in red as she grabbed a nearby assassin and plunged her fangs into his neck. Drinking his blood while whispering commands in his ears.
"Kill them all."
The voice echoed in the masked assailants' ears, and as soon as Esme let him go, he immediately turned into her puppet and started slaughtering his own teammates.
The scene immediately turned chaotic and madness seemed to have taken over everyone, as Esme compelled a couple more soldiers and started a bloody slaughter.
Finn too noticed Amy being cornered by the general, and wanted to help, but before he could even take a step further, all the assassins from every other ship ignored whatever battles they were part of and started rushing towards him.
Their movements were swift and without hesitation _ as if all of them had received some kind of command, and their bodies just moved on their own to follow it.
Some assailants even avoided their last swing to kill, or cornered victims _ before turning around and showing their backs to them.
This change, giving some people a chance to strike back or breathe a sigh of relief.
But Finn was drowned in numbers.
His overpowered domain, which had turned the tables on warzy some time ago, was failing to hold back so many attackers. Causing him to bleed from his nose and mouth.
He was pressed from every side, so much so that he didn't even have a second to pull back, and drink a potion to restore his spent mana or declining health.
"Damn it. Where did so many people come from?" Finn shouted in anger as he used one of the assailant's body as a cover to block the barrage of arrows aimed at him.
He was an amazing fighter.
Ravens had truly trained him as someone worthy to take over their black market business and take it to the bigger heights. -- But facing nearly 2 or 3 dozen people of the same rank as him surrounding him. Using myriads of spells and attacks in a limited space to move - even he was feeling breathless.
Not far from him, Rebecca also wasn't fairing any better.
If anything, her situation was the worst.
Unlike others who only had to face off attacks aimed at themselves, poor Becca had to hold off enemies charging at Rio constantly, while managing the barrier around their bodies to protect him and little Tanya.
Talking about the little girl, this was the first time Tanya had ever seen such bloody scenes.
She was always so well protected by her mother. And then after meeting the Blake's, her life and the people who doted on her, had only increased many fold.
Not only did she find a brother in Rio, and sister in Amy, she even found a loving dad, in Ayla's father, Augustus. Making her life full of colors and rainbows.
But now… .
The gore, the blood, the deaths _ the screams, and the howling curses - it was all so horrific that she simply closed her eyes and hid behind Rio.
Her small hands tightly wrapped around his thighs, as if only that could give her a little bit of strength and support.
(System, if there's anything you want to say or do, now's the time.) Rio spoke in his mind, cursing the helpless feeling in his heart.
God knows, he had tried to move his body, to channel his mana, or gather his aura and fling a sword – but every bit of effort was met with a piercing pain that seemed to rip his soul apart.
Along with a warning from his senses, which screamed that if he kept pushing his limits _ he will die.
[Host, I've informed you weeks ago that after my upgrade, I would need a couple of hours to fuse my strength and install new functions.] System replied, explaining why it couldn't be of much help.
"Fuck it, then remove my limiters. I'll kill them myself." Rio ordered, watching the damned general toying with his sister.
[You can't do that host. Absolutely not.] The system warned, immediately refusing Rio's request.
[Removing your limiters now before reaching limit rank would ruin your foundation. And years of hard work.]
[Not to mention, your body is still in the process of merging with Aelthar's legacy. If you make a move now, there's a 99.9% chance _ that it will trigger some sort of celestial vision. One which can easily expose the powers you inherited.]
[And don't forget, the entire existence of Eclipse and all the plans related to it _ solely rely upon you keeping that secret.]
"Then tell me what to do? Cause I'm not watching my sister die, a second time." Rio cursed and clenched his fists.
Knowing the plot and the fate awaiting him and this world in the future, he had increased his strength while laying the perfect foundation - but knowing that the tallest tree attracts the strongest winds, - Rio had placed a few limiters on his body, to suppress himself.
So that even the gods always watching him, wouldn't be able to fully sense his physique, essense of late Erebus, or latent talent for darkness.
But to save Amy now, he was willing to sacrifice everything.
Cause after what happened last time he trusted gods with something in his plans, he didn't want to make any deals ever again and be backstabbed later.
But watching Amy, Becca, and Finn on verge of collapse _ he even rang a few bells in that department.
Yet the answers he received only made him clench his fists in anger.
[She's chaos incarnate. You know how rare that is. We can't let her live.]
[She's Gauri's chosen, right? Killing her will surely rile up that righteous goddess.]
[I already have some dealings with the cult of Kali. Their leader doesn't accept her as an avatar. So they want her head.]
[Tsk, fine I'll save her, who made me so merciful. But the beauties I save often give themselves to me. Sigh I'm so handsome, what can they do?]
[Hand over Aelthar's legacy and I will think about this.]
[You siblings have both stepped over your boundaries and tarnished the reputation of godhood. This is retribution.]
[Death is a mere bump in the cycle of life. Why fear it. Learn to embrace it. Accept it. Cherish it.]
[Why don't you ask Nyx or Gauri to make a move? Aelthar and Apate already broke the rules, why not let Gauri and Nyx do it too?]
[Hahaha say that again. So funny. LMAO get a load of this guy. Lol..]
Rio had the illusion that the bastards sitting in the high heavens were mocking him, enjoying his helplessness, and feeling entertained over this tragedy.
And rightfully so too, as he and his sister did indeed both just bound a god and tortured them for hours for the world to see - this is their revenge.
…
Inside Rio's mind
[Are you really not going to help him?] System said as he glanced at the glinting pupils on the throne of darkness. [You know you're the reason his body's so weak right now.]
[If he removes his limiters now, he won't be able to handle it.]
(You have no idea of the things he can and cannot handle.) The cold voice of the devil echoed, answering the system's question. (He'll survive.)
[How can you be so relaxed?] System shouted in anger, seeing that laid back response. [If anything happened to his sister or anyone else for that matter, He Will go crazy.]
[And then, be it gods, demons, or this world, he does have plans to destroy it all.]
(And that matters _ How?)
[Argghh. Why are you so stubborn? You don't care about the world, fine. But after so long, I have realized this, that if Rio dies, so do you. So why the fuck are you sitting here on your ass on a sofa, instead of freaking helping him which you should.]
The system spoke in anger, shouting curses at the Devil _ forgetting he could simply wipe it out with a snap of his fingers.
(.....)
[.....Sorry, I overreacted.] System spoke in a hurry in a horrid tone, as it watched the devil calmly open his palm.
[Just _ I was just _ I'm not _ can you… ] The system begged as it felt a suction force pulling it into the darkness, and a chill swept over it's glittering core.
And just when the system felt everything was over, and flashes of its eternal life were flashing through its digital eyes, the calm voice of the devil echoed in it's ears.
(You talk too much.) The devil said, holding the system in his palm and playing with it's core, like playing with a ball.
[....] The system felt confused by this reversal. But before it could say anything else, it heard something else from the devil, which shocked it in silence.
(His fate isn't fair to let him fail so soon. He'll lose, cry, and crumble, _ that's for sure, - but not so easily. Not by these mesley meatbags.)
