Chapter 116: Until Death Do Us Part

“Poor thing.”

Sohwa muttered.

Placing her paws on the white tiger’s knee, she asked.

“You miss Baeksom that much?”

“Yes... I could literally give my life if I could see my pup for just one last time.”

“Then think of me as Baeksom and give me a hug.”

“Baeksom!”

Without hesitation, Beomhee scooped Sohwa up, stroking her belly, fondling her ears, sniffing her paws, and rubbing her nose against hers.

“Quite thorough, aren’t you....”

Sohwa slightly regretted offering herself as a substitute.

She waited for Beomhee’s bittersweet reunion to end.

“You can make a visit once in a while, but don’t follow me around too much.”

“You knew?”

“Of course. Knowing one of the Four Divine Beasts’ watchful eyes are on me makes it hard to take my beauty nap properly.”

“Young pups are naturally light sleepers.”

“I’m not a pup—I’m a fox.”

“And they are quite sensitive to the slightest sound.”

“I told you, I’m a fox! Ugh!”

When Sohwa leaped out of her grasp, Beomhee looked after her wistfully.

“Come inside for a moment.”

Soon, Sohwa, now in her human form, appeared arm in arm with her husband.

The reunion between Dohwi and Beomhee was rather frosty.

Two mountain lords can’t coexist under the same sky.

That was the law of the nature.

The two prideful tigers merely exchanged curt nods.

“I have something for you, Lady.”

Sohwa said.

“For me? What is it? If it’s another root of ginseng you’ve given me last time....”

“I meant my Honey. You’ll probably take better care of him than I ever could.”

“Me?”

Dohwi turned in shock to look at his wife.

Sohwa immediately waved her hands in denial.

“No, Dohwi! Not you. How could I live without you?”

“But you just said to take your ‘honey’.”

“Yes, but not ‘my Honey’—this ‘Honey.’”

Sohwa pointed under the porch.

The dark space beneath was empty, or so it seemed at first.

“Wait... Is that...? There....”

Beomhee narrowed her eyes and leaned in.

Out of the shadowy darkness, two little orbs sparkled faintly.

It was a puppy.

A small black puppy peeked out from under the porch, blinking nervously.

“Come here, Honey.”

Sohwa coaxed, holding out her hand.

Cautiously, the puppy crept out from its hiding place.

“This little one’s name is Honey. He was wandering alone by the river without a mother, so I brought him home.”

“....”

“But every time he sees Dohwi, he tucks his tail between his legs and hides. I don’t know who he takes after to be so timid.”

True to her words, Honey’s tail curled tightly beneath him, like a pig’s tail.

“He doesn’t seem to feel at ease in this house. You should take him, Lady.” fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com

“I don’t know if I can grow attached to a black pup....”

“You’re already holding him, though.”

Honey licked Beomhee’s hand.

Surrendering to the tiny puppy, Beomhee’s gaze softened as she examined him closely.

His fur was silky, his legs were short, and he was far more excitable and chatty than Baeksom ever was.

“So scrawny....”

“Oh, by the way... He’s incredibly picky about food.”

“I need to get him some beef soup immediately.”

Beomhee abruptly turned to leave, all the while stroking Honey’s back with great affection.

“It would’ve been great if she had come sooner.”

Woongsik muttered while seeing Beomhee off.

“Our eldest young master always dreamed of finding a brave tiger bride and living comfortably.”

“That’s true.”

Sohwa agreed.

“Yongbeom did say that.”

Distracted by the puppy, Beomhee suddenly lifted her head.

“You had sons? A dragon(Yong) AND a tiger(Beom)?”

“Oh, no, ‘Yongbeom’ is just the name. He’s my first son. ‘Yong’ means dragon, symbolizing might, and ‘Beom’ means tiger, representing boldness.”

“Ah, I see... So, he must be a bold tiger of a son.”

“Oh, if only. He’s actually a small and timid fox.”

Sohwa sighed and shook her head.

“Yes, Young Master Yongbeom is a silver fox.”

Woongsik confirmed.

“He’s a little bigger than the mistress, but he looks just like her.”

Beomhee’s eyes widened in surprise.

“Where is he now?”

“He left home a long time ago....”

“Where did he go?”

Beomhee’s blue eyes gleamed with determination, as if ready to track him down.

“Oh, no. It’s too late for that. Yongbeom has married well and is living happily now.”

“Well, if his wife were gone....”

“Hold it right there.”

At Sohwa’s dissuasion, Beomhee’s expression turned sulky, but it suddenly brightened.

“So, you’re telling me you once gave birth to a son who looks just like you? A pretty silver fox?”

“That’s right.”

Beomhee’s smile turned mischievous as she stroked Honey’s small head.

It was obvious that a naughty plan was forming in her mind.

It felt like they had roasted chestnuts just yesterday, but frost had already blanketed the ground.

Winter marked the season of tigers and foxes.

In a snow-covered house with tiled roofs, the mountain lord and his wife pretended to play tag, but it was really just an excuse for playful flirting.

Blindfolded with a cloth, Sohwa groped around, reaching for her husband.

“Where are you, you naughty tiger? Where are you hiding?”
