Living with the Dangerous Beast-Chapter 14: An Intruder

“Don’t worry. This isn’t a place for foxes to live. They’ll leave on their own.”

“But I’m living here just fine.”

Mount Yeehwang was close to a human village, but in Sohwa’s thought, it had ample food and no predators, making it a suitable habitat for foxes.

‘No predators, Huh.’

Finding Sohwa’s thought endearing, Dohwi lightly pinched her cheek before letting go.

“You’re not eating, again.”

“I had a big dinner last night. I’m still full.”

Sohwa wanted to ask but kept quiet, fearing he might tease her with a statement like,

Dohwi had different tastes from her.

He liked meat, but not the same kind she did.

‘He must have gone to the village for food.’

She felt guilty about the feast prepared just for her.

“By the way, if you’re not going to eat, why did you prepare so much food?”

Feeling bad for only picking at some pieces of pheasant meat and setting her spoon down, Sohwa grumbled for no reason.

After a brief argument about eating more, Sohwa lay down on the wooden floor, prompting Dohwi to finally clear the table.

It was as if the previous night’s events never happened, and it was the start of just another normal day, same old, same old.

Early in the morning, Dohwi left to buy groceries from the human village. It explained the grand breakfast he had prepared.

It would take him at least half a day to go down to the village.

Despite Sohwa’s short appetite, Dohwi never minded the effort.

‘Now’s my chance.’

Recalling the fox cries from dawn, Sohwa left the house.

While finding out the tiger’s identity was important, having another fox in her territory was an another issue.

If it was a male fox attracted to her scent during mating season, she could understand, but if it was a female, she had to drive it away.

She needed to practice hunting and, as the rightful owner of this mountain, check on the lower creatures living there.

However, with that clingy nagger always by her side, she had no chance to patrol her territory.

Dohwi hated her wandering around the mountain alone.

‘Hmph, as if I’d ever get lost in my own territory!’

But having not roamed Mount Yeehwang alone for a long time, the overgrown paths felt unfamiliar and every path looked the same.

Finally, Sohwa had to revert to her fox form, nose to the ground.

“Where am I?”

After wandering for a while, she circled a large oak tree.

She caught a faint but unfamiliar scent at the base of the tree. It was the scent of a fox, though strange and somehow familiar.

‘There really is another female fox!’

Her heart pounded. As she lifted her head, she heard a rustling sound.

“Is this where you live?”

Startled, Sohwa leaped up at the strange voice.

It was a sharp, confident tone, reminiscent of her friend cat Myojin.

“Oh, You’re a mutant fox, I see....”

It was referring to Sohwa’s black tail and white body.

“I am Miho, a red fox.”

Sohwa glanced back and froze as her eyes met those of a young woman with a gentle smile.

Her hair, neatly braided with a ribbon, was light brown, her eyes, also wearing a beautiful beige shade, reminded the colors of autumn leaves.

Though she appeared in a human form, Sohwa instinctively knew she was a magnificent red fox in her true form, an exceptional female.

Encountering another of her kind for the first time, and not a male but a rival female, made Sohwa’s tail tuck inward.

She had never met another fox, let alone a female she had to fight for territory with!

‘This is bad. What should I do...!’

Instinctively, her legs began to move. Sohwa flipped over, exposing her belly, and wagged her tail side to side.

“Haha, how cute,”

Suddenly, her expression turned fierce as she growled ferociously.

“You killed my husband last night, didn’t you, you dirty bitch!”

“W-What...? No! I didn’t even see him!”

“Really, are you sure?”

Miho inspected Sohwa, continuing to speak.

“I marked this mountain as my territory a few days ago. Can’t you smell it?”

“Wha-? You marked WHAT?”

“I said, I’ve left my scent all over this mountain. Can’t you tell?”

‘Oh, dear. What should I do now....’

It was exactly like the old saying, ‘one nail drives out another.’

This was a disaster. No matter how much she showed her belly, this female fox was intent on driving her out of the mountain.

In her pale, small and shabby fox form, Sohwa was no match for Miho.

She quickly transformed into her human form, placed her hands on her hips, and approached Miho.

“This mountain is not yours! In fact, I am the rightful owner of the great Mount-!”

She was about to shout,

Until Miho suddenly pinched her nose in disgust and grimaced.
