Madness After the Apocalypse-Chapter 20: Raid a skyscraper
Chapter 20: Raid a skyscraper
The man continued to struggle, his consciousness fading, and suddenly, he thought of his dog.
If Da Huang were here, that little white dog wouldn't have been able to bite him.
With sharp teeth, a strong and agile body, Da Huang was certainly no match for this woman.
Besides his master, Da Huang feared no one. Even when he was knocked out, it never fought back...
If only it were still here...
As his consciousness blurred further, he seemed to see Da Huang running toward him.
An Nan, noticing the man's gradual descent, started the inflatable boat and chased after the last woman.
The woman, hearing the engine sound behind her, desperately swam forward, pleading, "Please let me go! I know I was wrong!"

An Nan said nothing. She steered the boat and rammed directly into her.
When they were in the crowd, they had tried to bully her, attempting to steal her equipment and her dog, Fu Gui. Now, after losing, they suddenly claimed to regret their actions?
Sorry, too late.
The water quickly calmed, as if the entire group had never existed.
An Nan took out a towel and began drying her drenched dog.
"Fu Gui, no more biting down there, it's so dirty!"
"You're a little girl, act like a lady, understand?"
Fu Gui, obedient, leaned beside An Nan, mumbling in response.
Got it!
After drying the dog, she tucked it back into her backpack, then removed her diving suit, storing it in the space to avoid any further issues.
An Nan started the boat again, turning toward the deeper parts of Guangcheng District.
She remembered hearing those people mention the Tech Tower, and it suddenly occurred to her that there was another high-rise in Guangcheng District.
However, the building was located on the far edge of the city, requiring a long journey across almost the entire district.
Without the inflatable boat, it would have been impossible to reach by kayak or even plastic basins. Therefore, it was very likely that the area hadn't been scavenged yet.
Those people probably had the same idea, which is why they made their way from Zhongguan District.
Steering the boat, An Nan headed straight for the Tech Tower.
After two hours, she finally reached the vicinity. Amidst the vast floodwaters, the building stood alone, towering above the water.
The sign at the top of Taiyu Tech Tower still gleamed brightly.
Taiyu Group was the second-largest corporation in the province, primarily focused on electronics but branching into many industries over the years.
This building served as the headquarters for their operations in Linbei City.
An Nan slowly approached and, seeing no one around, stored the boat in her space and walked into the building.
Guangcheng District had a low elevation, and the first eleven floors of the building were completely submerged. Only the top six floors remained above the water.
An Nan entered through a window on the twelfth floor.
The twelfth floor housed Taiyu Group's urban construction company. It hadn't been scavenged yet, and everything was in perfect order, as if nothing had changed since before the disaster.
An Nan first took the coffee machine, ice maker, and other appliances from the break room and stored them in her space.
She then made a sweep of the office, collecting various snacks, cookies, chocolates, and jerky from the employees' desks.
Even the relatively new office supplies were taken.
Since her space was vast and empty, she figured it wouldn't hurt to stockpile. Who knew when they might be useful later?
She collected tea leaves from the male employees, humidifiers, mini-fridges, and other items from the female employees.
The filing cabinets contained various bidding documents and contracts, but they were of no use now. She emptied them out and stored the empty cabinets in her space.
She took everything, even the cleaning staff's disinfectant effervescent tablets.
On the thirteenth floor, there was a renovation company.
Apart from the office supplies and snacks at the employees' desks, there were a variety of renovation materials.
Beautiful tile samples, detachable flooring, turpentine, waterproof coatings, and more were all stored in her space.
In addition to these, she found explosion-proof glass and five armored doors.
These were excellent items. An Nan inspected them and found them to be brand new, not inferior to the quality of her own home's materials.
She collected them all!
Moving up another floor, she found the newly established Innovation Tech Company, a part of Taiyu Group.
She had seen news about them. They had been researching a new type of high-tech fabric, said to be not only comfortable and anti-cutting, but also able to maintain a constant temperature.
An Nan was quite interested in this.
If such fabric existed, she wouldn't have to suffer extreme heat or cold.
She searched through the R&D department but found only failed experiments. The whiteboard in the meeting room was covered with incorrect data and ideas for corrections.
It seemed this miraculous fabric was far from being a reality.
An Nan was disappointed. They shouldn't be making headlines when there was nothing to show for it.
After leaving the R&D department, she walked on. Another department caught her attention.
Three brand-new drones, valued at 300,000 each.
With strong endurance and ultra-clear cameras, there were three of them in total.
An Nan immediately took all of them and stored the related parts as well.
After making her rounds, she found that there was nothing else valuable on that floor and moved up to the fifteenth floor.
This was a seed company.
There were samples of various grain seeds, fruit tree seeds, flower seeds, all carefully categorized and stored.
Though she didn't understand the high-tech seeds they were working on, she knew that seeds symbolized hope.
With a wave of her hand, she collected all the seeds into her space.
After the flood, nearly all crops were destroyed, but as long as seeds remained, there was still hope for Blue Star's recovery.
Once the seeds were secured, An Nan moved on to the sixteenth floor, which housed Taiyu Group's new automotive research department.
An Nan couldn't help but admire Taiyu Group's extensive reach across industries.
However, when she thought back, it seemed that apart from electronics, Taiyu hadn't made a significant impact in other fields.
Their financial power was far behind the Gu family Group, which held the top spot in the province.
But that wasn't something An Nan could judge—her own family's industries couldn't even be compared to theirs. And besides, her own family had expelled her, leaving her with nothing.
She roamed around the sixteenth floor, but while she didn't find their concept car, she did find plenty of car parts.
Not bothering to check if they could be used on her own car, she stored them all in her space.
Besides these, she found ten boxes containing 400 bottles of maintenance oil, all of which she also collected.
The warehouse contained car mats, child safety seats, and other car-related items, likely intended as employee perks.
Unfortunately, these items would never be used by the unfortunate workers.
An Nan took them all.
After clearing this floor, the only floor left was the top floor, the seventeenth.
She headed toward the stairwell, but just as she was about to go upstairs, she suddenly heard the sound of many footsteps below.
An Nan froze in alarm, quickly stopping: someone was coming.
