Chapter 290 - C281

A quarrel is just a small episode in the family atmosphere.

After eating, Sergei, Pietro, and the others hurriedly went to the training base in the Pacific through the little girl Clarice's portal.

At this time, Leon's industry was developing very rapidly. First of all, there was Veronica, an artificial intelligence even more advanced than Jarvis. Money and technology were not an issue at all. As for manpower, that went without saying. In this world, as long as you have money, you can recruit a large number of talents across various industries.

Unbeknownst to Leon, Veronica had already laid out a comprehensive series of design-related industries. Without him realizing it, he had become one of the top hidden billionaires in the world. In the gray industry, the extraordinary manpower of Yelena and Melina had been training and cultivating homeless and lost individuals into Black Widows.

Even though their physical fitness was not on par with Natasha, who had long earned the title of Black Widow, under Yelena and Melina's training, these recruits had become the most elite spies. It was as if he had obtained a squad of max-level operatives. Now, Leon needed to raise their upper limit even further.

Leon had previously stated that once these Black Widows completed their training and earned Yelena and Melina's recognition, he would provide them with super gene serum to break through their limits once again.

So, after finishing breakfast, Leon made his way to the Black Widow special training base. This base was not the one in the Pacific Ocean—that one was 80% complete and designated for training selected orphaned children. Instead, the Black Widow training base was still located in Siberia.

The harsh environment and sparse population of Siberia made it an ideal hidden location. Many spy organizations and secret bases were scattered throughout the region. Veronica alone had intercepted hundreds of distinct signal frequencies in the area. After screening by Melina and Yelena, it became clear that these signals belonged to various organizations, including private security firms established by powerful elites and mercenary groups.

Originally, there had been many Hydra bases in the area, but years ago, Leon had led his faction in raiding them mercilessly for resources and technology, leading to their destruction. Consequently, Baron Strucker had been forced to continually withdraw his forces until, finally, he abandoned the region altogether.

For Baron Strucker, Siberia was a place of humiliation and loss. His setbacks here were immeasurable—not only in terms of finances but also in technology, personnel, and, most notably, Hydra warriors. Each of these brainwashed soldiers had been fiercely loyal to Hydra, and their loss was beyond monetary value. Training them required years of effort, as did the scientists Hydra had cultivated.

After Baron Strucker was exposed by Alexander Pierce, what remained of Hydra entered a hunted phase. S.H.I.E.L.D., led by Nick Fury, alongside the Avengers, pursued them relentlessly. Whenever they had spare time, Tony Stark led the Avengers in attacking their remnants. Worse still, Captain America and the Winter Soldier, who harbored deep hatred for Hydra, took every opportunity to strike.

Now, Baron Strucker could only scurry from one hiding place to another, much like a rat in the sewers—his situation was nothing short of miserable. However, Leon had no interest in him. The most painful punishment was not death but becoming an enemy of the world, losing one's foundation, and being forced into hiding. The torment of such a downfall would only intensify with time. Strucker was, for all intents and purposes, a dead man walking.

What truly captured Leon's attention was the group of young women standing before him.

The Black Widow training base was enormous, built within a vast, hollowed-out cave. Unlike the strict and brutal regimen of the Red Room, this facility offered a more humane approach. Basic necessities—food, clothing, housing, and transportation—were all provided. Nutritional solutions, fresh fruits, and meals were flown in daily to maintain their health. The living quarters resembled a university dormitory, offering more comfort and freedom.

If the Red Room was hell, then this base was paradise in comparison. While the training remained intense, it was balanced with rest and recreational activities. At first, the Black Widows—having endured a lifetime of hardship—struggled to adjust, but eventually, they came to appreciate it.

These young women had no families or friends; they had suffered deeply and were now detached from society. When initially freed, many chose to return here, perhaps because, to them, this was home.

For these girls, who had endured so much, Leon would not be a cruel and exploitative leader. As their boss, he knew they would risk their lives for him in the future. A heartless commander was not the kind of leader he aspired to be.

On the vast training grounds before him, nearly 2,000 young women from diverse ethnic backgrounds stood in formation. Dressed in sleek black combat uniforms, their figures were lithe and graceful, their hands clasped behind their backs as they gazed at him intently.

Though their numbers seemed large, many were still in training and had yet to complete the rigorous conditions necessary to earn the title of Black Widow. Those who succeeded would be sent on assignments for Dreykov's global operations. But now, they would abandon the name Black Widow altogether.

In its place, they would become the Sword of Tiamat.

Tiamat, the mother of dragons, symbolized supreme glory and power. She embodied the pinnacle of female strength, and in naming them after her, Leon was setting high expectations. This army, comprised of young women discarded by the world, would rise to astonishing power—even surpassing Asgard's Valkyrie Legion.

Leon did not waste words. His usually tranquil eyes turned golden, and an almost imperceptible aura of dominance spread through the air, sending a shiver down the spines of the warriors before him.

"Leon," he said, his voice resolute, "this is the name to which you pledge your loyalty."
