Chapter 31 -30 – Scion of Jing Family — Jing Chen (PK, please collect)_1

The beauty of the spring arrayed itself, a gentle breeze rustling by. Mu Lin strolled through the spacious courtyard, a serene smile playing on her lips, tranquil and indifferent.

Mu Lin exuded an aura that involuntarily drew people towards her.

Looking at that gentle and restrained smile on her face was a delightful sight.

“A hundred meters ahead, there seems to be a beauty approaching,” said an exquisitely handsome young man from amongst three figures that casually approached from the opposite direction.

“Haven’t seen her before? Probably a guest from someone’s home,” guessed one of them, lost in thought, gently rubbing his chin.

“How about going over to introduce ourselves?” The sight of such a charming beauty was rare.

The first one to speak suggested so.

“I don’t mind.” The last one shrugged, “But don’t overdo it.” All the people present in the courtyard had a certain amount of status and shouldn’t be trifled with without any knowledge about them.

Ever since his near-death experience, the young man’s attitude seemed completely reformed, much calmer and thoughtful than before.

“Don’t worry,” one of them responded with an ‘OK’ gesture, understanding the message.

Moreover, they were just thinking about going over to introduce themselves.

The three of them approached Mu Lin and came to a stop.

“Hello, we don’t seem to have met before?”

Sensing their presence drawing closer, Mu Lin stepped back minutely and glanced up. When her gaze met one of the three, her lips lifted into a small smirk. Ignoring the one who had spoken, her gaze rested on the last one standing.

“It’s you.” The young master of the Zhang family.

“You know me?” Zhang Mingzhe looked surprised. He had no recollection of the young woman standing before him.

“A fleeting acquaintance,” Mu Lin chuckled lightly.

“So, you two did meet before. Why the secrecy?” The one who had spoken first looked elated, jabbing his elbow into Zhang Mingzhe’s side, “Hey, tell us when you met such incredible beauty? Some friend you are, not even introducing us!”

Turning back to Mu Lin, he extended his hand and put on a laid-back expression, “Nice to meet you, I’m Yang Yuebin, and this is Xia Zeyang. What’s your name?”

“Mu Lin.” Mu Lin responded without extending her hand, a soft smile on her lips.

The boy in front of her looked devil-may-care, yet his eyes were crystal clear.

“Mu Lin.” A rather unique name, “Nice to meet you.” Yang Yuebin laughed heartily.

Seeing his friend behaving like old buddies, Zhang Mingzhe pulled him back a little, then turned to Mu Lin with a bit of caution in his eyes, “Who are you exactly and why do you know me?” Their life in this courtyard necessitated vigilance, especially since their family recently ran into a string of troubles. This unexpected arrival of a woman who seemed to know him, caused his guard to go up.

“I saved your life. If I had any evil intentions or other motives, I doubt you would be able to escape.” Mu Lin smiled casually.

However, beneath that simple and gentle smile, a lethal venom was hidden.

His life?

Zhang Mingzhe frowned, but the next moment he became suddenly alert, “It’s you!”

Mu Lin; No wonder the name sounded familiar, it was her!

“What are you doing here?” Zhang Mingzhe asked reflexively. Wasn’t she a doctor?

“I’m here to check up on Mr. Jing,” Mu Lin replied casually.

Mr. Jing.

Zhang Mingzhe nodded thoughtfully. Mr. Jing’s health wasn’t a secret within the courtyard, as he was often ill. However, he was surprised that Mr. Jing had called upon Mu Lin for a diagnosis.

After all, he was initially deemed beyond help and was nevertheless saved by a young woman in front of him, who looked about his age.

This was relayed to him when he woke up by his mother.

“Thank you for that day.” Expressing gratitude couldn’t compensate for the life-saving grace she had bestowed.

“We’re square.” Mu Lin smiled, walking towards the pavilion nearby. Zhang Mingzhe followed her, and the other two joined them after exchanging glances.

“Well, thanks anyway.” If she hadn’t been there, he wouldn’t have survived regardless of how much money his family possessed.

Mu Lin sat down and kept her tranquil smile without saying a word.

“Can you both clarify whether you know each other or not? Stop keeping us in suspense, my wit isn’t robust enough for this,” blurted out Yang Yuebin, growing agitated.

Xia Zeyang rolled his eyes at the lack of smarts of his friend.

From the conversation between the two and considering the recent happenings around Zhang Mingzhe, the circumstances weren’t hard to discern.

What stunned him was that the savior who had pulled Zhang Mingzhe from the clutches of Hades was scarcely older than they were. The world indeed was vast and strange.

Seeing his friends ignoring him, Yang Yuebin could do nothing but stare pointedly.

“Do you have something to ask us?” Mu Lin seemed not keen on talking initially, but her sudden move towards the pavilion hinted that she had something to ask.

“It’s not a big deal, I wanted to know if you guys know Jing Chen. Don’t you?” She thought they probably did.

“Of course we do. He’s an iconic figure in our courtyard,” exclaimed Yang Yuebin, eager to participate in the conversation, his eyebrows cocked with a smug expression.

Indeed, Jing Chen, the revered figure in their courtyard! How could they not know him? They even had to address him as Master Jing whenever they saw him.

“He’s Mr. Jing’s eldest grandson.” Zhang Mingzhe chimed in, “Why? Is there a problem?” She was helping Mr. Jing, and Jing Chen was his grandson, why was there a need to ask them about it?

“It’s nothing much.” Mu Lin smiled lightly, her eyes glinting with a contemplative look as she muttered, “He proposed that he’d devote himself to me. I’m wondering whether I should consider it.”

Well… it would be nice to have an idea of his character first…

“Boom!”

Before Mu Lin could gather her thoughts…

The noise of three heavy bodies hitting the ground rang forth. The three men who were seating upright neatly had swiftly swapped to a much more “comfortable” position already.
