Chapter 243: Training base - 4

Silas’s POV

I nearly choked on my food. He touched my shoulder.

"Silas, are you okay?"

Like hell I was okay. I was coughing like crazy, like I was about to die.

Just then, Lysander gave me a glass of water, and after drinking that, I started to feel better.

"Silas, are you okay?" Lysander asked.

He even stood up from his chair and came beside me, touching my shoulder.

As he did that, Ren pulled his hand back.

I stood up from the chair because tears were streaming down my face and I was still coughing. I couldn’t eat anymore.

"Lysander, you stay. I’ll go back to the room."

Saying that, I started to walk away, and when I glanced beside me, it was Lysander who was walking with me.

Didn’t I tell him to stay? Then why was he coming?

"Lysander, can’t you understand human language?"

"Silas, I know because of my mistake, you’ve lost all your trust in me. But this is how I used to treat you before too, and you didn’t say no."

When he said that, I felt like I was drowning in a lake of memories, where Lysander and I were on good terms—how he used to treat me.

That feeling of love which had started to develop in me, but then he himself shattered all those feelings into pieces.

I can’t forget what he did to me.

But before that incident, there were many times when Lysander stood by me, supported me. Even if no one else did, he did.

"Lysander..." I sighed.

"Okay, just do whatever you want. I’m not gonna say anything from now on."

I started to walk ahead and got into the elevator, and he did the same.

And when the elevator doors were closing, I noticed their group.

Four guys were sitting at that table visible from the lift, and those four guys were looking at me strangely.

I felt a shiver run down my spine from their gazes. But whatever.

When we came out of the elevator, a staff member came to us because she had some work with Lysander.

"Silas, go and wait for me in the room. I’ll be there in a minute."

I went back into the room and directly lay down on the bed because my coughing had stopped and I was feeling much better.

Lysander said he’d come back in a minute, but it’s been half an hour.

I’ve just been rolling on the bed and he still didn’t come back. It’s not like I’m worried about him or waiting for him or anything.

I got up from the bed and stood on the balcony while looking around. Just then, I heard the door opening, so I glanced back—and Lysander came inside.

Still, I didn’t go back in, because I didn’t want it to look like I was waiting for him. But wait—I wasn’t waiting for him.

"Are you getting some fresh air?"

As I heard that, I glanced to my side. He was standing there.

"Mhmm," I replied and continued to enjoy the view.

In the meantime, I got tired from standing, so I came back inside, adjusted the AC temperature, and lay down on the bed under the quilt.

He also came back a few seconds later.

"Lysander, can you close the balcony curtains? I want to take a quick nap, and if it’s too bright outside, I won’t be able to fall asleep."

And he quickly closed the curtains. As he did, darkness spread through the room like it was already nighttime.

"Okay, thank you."

I closed my eyes after saying that. I didn’t even realize when I fell asleep.

After a while, I woke up because—

"Silas, wake up. It’s been one hour since you fell asleep. I think you should get up now or you won’t be able to fall asleep later in the evening."

He was touching my hand while saying all this. I slightly opened my eyes.

"What time is it?" I asked.

"It’s still afternoon, don’t worry. And we have to go, because all the trainees are hanging out together."

Hang out with each other? Well, we’re here for work, so why do they all seem to be enjoying themselves?

It’s not like I blame them—it’s their happiness, their personality to enjoy. But I’m not like this.

"Lysander, you can go. I don’t want to."

Because he was still here, it means he was waiting for me. Simple.

"It’s not just a hangout between trainees. Mentor Voline himself is coming."

Now I didn’t have any other choice, did I? Because if the mentor is coming himself and I don’t go, it’ll look like I want to get on his bad side.

So I got up and got ready. We were called into the practice room.

Of course, it wasn’t just a common hangout if we were called into the practice room.

When we reached there, it was the opposite of what I had imagined.

What I saw—I thought he was going to make us exercise.

But no, there was a big table on the floor with beer, wine, soju, and other types of alcohol. He was drinking with everyone.

"ENJOY, EVERYONE!" he suddenly shouted.

I think I shouldn’t have come here. I’m not a big fan of alcohol. I turned to leave.

"Hey, where are you going without enjoying yourself?" Voline said. He seemed to be enjoying himself.

But this is totally opposite from what they show on TV.

I once saw a reality show about becoming idols, and in that show, every judge and mentor was so serious—along with the trainees.

And here, my mentor is drinking with his trainees?

"Sir, I can’t hold my liquor, so I can’t drink."

"Come here, I’ll show you how to drink."

I kept saying no, but then he stood up himself, made me sit beside him, and handed me a glass.

I didn’t really want to drink, but I took a sip anyway cuz I didn’t have any other choice.
