Mated to the Mad Lord-Chapter 244: Beast form!
Chapter 244: Beast form!
All she felt as the beast lay beside her, urging her to slide her fingers through its fur every second that she moved to remove them, was a mix of confusion and unease.
It didn’t get better when night fell and Cain had yet to turn back. Worse, she couldn’t communicate with him no matter how she tried.
The bed was completely broken into pieces, and worse, Violet wasn’t sure if it would be a good idea to allow the servants in to see Cain’s condition.
For about an hour, she sat unmoving on the ground, staring intensely at the beast, who sometimes looked right at her with familiar red eyes and at other times simply chose to completely ignore her.
It was huge, so much so that sitting by it made Violet feel that all it had to do to crush her was roll or simply shift the position of its leg, which would squash her instantly.
"Cain!" she quietly called out, watching the beast bristle, shaking its head ever so slightly even as it lay on the ground.
I’m guessing that’s a no! Violet thought to herself, even as she continued to touch its soft, dark fur, sitting there for another hour until she could no longer sit.
Having concluded that she wasn’t in any danger, Violet simply leaned forward and gently laid down on the beast’s back, shocked to feel how soft it was.
Her wounds weren’t completely healed, but they didn’t hurt as much as before, even though the place of her missing tooth was the only spot that still shot bolts of pain through her brain.
Still, she lay down with her eyes shut, surprised to feel how warm and cozy the fur felt—enough to make her slowly glide into a deep sleep barely minutes after, with the subtle hope that by the time she woke up, all would have returned to how it was supposed to be.
It didn’t.
She woke up like usual, stretching her arms, surprised to find out that she was covered in a bundle of clothes, and Cain’s beast was nowhere to be found.
A smile instantly appeared on her face, her first thought being that Cain had already transformed back to his human form, only for the smile to disappear as she scrambled to her feet and turned around to see the beast standing there, no longer lying down on its four limbs, staring right at her with an intensity that scared her, worried that Cain’s red personality would hurt her.
Only to breathe a sigh of relief when, even after a long time, the beast didn’t attack her and simply looked at her, its red tongue hanging out as it gasped for air.
Violet simply stood still, watching it for a few seconds before she slowly walked forward, surprised to see the beast do nothing but stare at her until she came close enough. Then it nudged its head forward in her direction.
Violet instantly reacted by stretching out her hand to rub its head, not even surprised by the low groans that smoothly gushed out of its throat and echoed in the room.
Violet was still rubbing its head while staring at the beast in front of her when she began to mumble to herself.
"This is bad!! This is really bad!!" she mumbled out loud to herself as she continued to watch it nudge its head closer into her.
It was one thing for the servants to know, but another for other Werewolf lords to be aware.
It had only taken one werewolf council meeting for her to see how little they liked Cain. If it became public knowledge that he couldn’t turn back into his human form, she didn’t know what would happen, but she was sure that it wouldn’t be good.
So she tried again, opening her mouth to speak to the beast, which kept nudging her but not enough to send her right to the floor.
"Cain...are you in there?" she gently asked, placing both her hands on the beast and lowering her gaze to meet its eyes, aware that no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t shift its head against its will even if she tried.
"Can you hear me?" she asked again, "Can you transform back to yourself?"
But she was still speaking when the beast’s tongue shot out to lick her face in a way that shocked her at first before she outright giggled at the wetness against her face.
It was adorable. Yes, it was more than thirty times her size, but it really was cute, Violet thought to herself, staring at it and mostly relieved that, unlike Cain and his red personality, she was somehow convinced that the beast wouldn’t so much as hurt a single piece of hair on her neck.
"I guess we should move to another—" she began to say, only to hear a loud knock on the door that shocked her, jerking her head towards it as she wondered who it was.
Heading straight towards it and pulling it open, she saw Ravon standing there with his head lowered.
With all the things that had been going on, she hadn’t seen him in a while, something she had been glad about, only to frown when she saw him appear when she least expected to meet him.
"Good morning—" Ravon began with his head lowered, only to realize that the person in front of him wasn’t Cain but his new female lover.
Ravon might be displeased to have been abandoned and ignored, but he was determined to correct his mistakes as he immediately bowed his head towards the woman in front of him, just a little to show respect.
"Ma’am, my name is Ravon. I’m the Vice of this mansion!" he said, even as Violet nodded her head, aware that no one but Cain, Uva, and Trivet the doctor knew that she was Violet with the different face she had on.
"Is there anything you need?" Violet said, eager to send him away and call for another servant.
She knew enough about the kind of person Ravon was, and the fact that Cain didn’t trust him was enough reason for her to not do the same. freёnovelkiss.com
"Yes! I came to see Lord Cain! I have something to discuss with him!" Ravon said, trying to peek beyond the crack in the door, only for Violet to close it even more with a deeper frown on her face.
"He’s not available right now!" Violet snapped in response, even as she prayed that Cain wouldn’t make a sound for a few seconds and simply wait for Ravon to leave.
"When he’s ready to see you...he’ll call you!" she continued, even as Ravon, unwilling to leave just like that, couldn’t help but insist.
"Could you at least tell him that—"
"No! He’ll deal with business later. Right now, all he cares about is his pleasure!" she said sharply, interrupting him, speaking in a lower and more sultry voice that showed that it was also all she cared about.
"If that is all...you can leave! Meanwhile, call Henry on your way out!" she told him, about to shut the door when a loud growl suddenly echoed through the room and past it.
Enough for Ravon, who had been about to turn away and leave, to jerk his head back with an expression of absolute shock on his face.
He wasn’t stupid! That was indeed a werewolf growl, which wouldn’t have happened if Cain hadn’t shifted to his beast form.
"Was that Lord Cain?" he asked, unable to understand how any other beast could be in his room with his lover. More importantly, the fact that the lover seemed to be staying in the room without the mad beast having ripped her apart.
"Leave!" Violet snapped, slamming the door behind her, even as she turned around to glare at the beast, who had been nudging her from the side while she had been gesturing for it to quiet down.
Almost like it was aware of what it did wrong, it immediately lowered its head, flicking its tongue out to lick Violet, who didn’t allow it and had just turned around to stride angrily to the bed when she was suddenly lifted off the floor.
It had been so unexpected that for a few seconds, she couldn’t help but panic, only to be dropped back to the ground just as gently on her feet, back to where she had been standing by the door.
Without speaking, Violet again turned around to leave, only for the same thing to happen just like before, until she had no choice but to turn around and face the beast with a what do you want expression on her face, only to hear an even louder growl that surprised her and worried her at the same time.
She was confused, especially since it soon became clear that the beast was trying to tell her something she didn’t quite understand.
"You need something?" she asked him, stretching her hand out to rub his head like she did before, only to hear the beast release another groan that seemed to echo through its entire body and through the room itself.
Violet had just released a deep sigh when she suddenly watched the beast open up its huge mouth in shock and slight horror, saliva dropping to the ground like a fountain before it snapped its jaws shut with such force that Violet was convinced that breaking human bones would be like breaking a twig.
It opened its mouth again, and this time around, Violet understood what it was trying to say.
I’m hungry! And for the second time that day, she couldn’t help but mumble under her breath with a worried expression on her face.
"This is bad!! This is really bad!!"
