Mated to the Mad Lord-Chapter 248: Pressure
Chapter 248: Pressure
It didn’t work, and not that she expected it to, as she turned around to look back at Henry.
"You think we should let them all in?" she asked with a concerned expression on her face, especially since the fact that they all decided to come together meant that they came collectively for a reason.
"Yes! We can allow only them in, but not their bodyguards—or at most, allow only one per person!" Henry said, but even as he spoke, Violet could tell that it wasn’t something any of the lords would be happy about.
"Okay!" Violet said, about to follow after him, only to see Henry shake his head.
"You need to change into something more...regal!" he pointed out, and Violet had to take a second look at the shorts she wore and the top, wondering what was wrong with it.
But since Henry brought it up, Violet nodded her head and immediately headed back up to Cain’s wing, where her clothes were kept.
Relieved that Cain’s beast didn’t bother trying to enter the bathroom with her, even if it kept nudging the door open in a way that made it clear that it would simply destroy it if it came to that.
By the time Violet was done taking the fastest bath she could, she stepped out, stepping back while stamping down the urge to mutter the word pervert under her breath as she did.
But it was when she had to dress up that she refused to do so in front of him, which led to an impasse—with her trying to cover herself and the beast not moving a step away from wherever she wanted to go.
This went on for a while until Violet realized that any longer, and she would simply keep all the lords waiting.
Biting the bullet, she went ahead to wear the only black gown she had found in her wardrobe. It was sleeveless, with a V-neck that somehow accentuated the curves she would have sworn she didn’t have. She put on a pair of heeled sandals before getting up to stare at herself in the mirror.
The butterflies were flying, and her nerves felt frayed as she simply bound her hair into a messy bun on her head that actually made her look elegant.
The black in her hair was a direct contrast to the paleness of her skin as she patted her cheeks, trying to add some color to them, only to give up after a few moments of getting the opposite results.
It can’t be that bad! This is Cain’s mansion! They can’t do anything to me! she mumbled under her breath, even as she kept glancing back at Cain’s beast, aware that the best solution would be for him to suddenly transform into his human form, which would instantly send them running off.
Henry will help! she muttered under her breath, her legs glued to the ground she stood on as her courage slowly began to fail her.
The last thing she wanted to do was to head out and actually have to face so many lords. The memory of their expressions and auras was still clear in her mind from the last time she met them.
This is not going to go well, is it? she thought to herself, about to sit, feeling a little faint as she willed her face to change back to the one she was unfamiliar with—brown hair, brown eyes, and a face that looked friendly at a glance. She then got back on her feet and made her way towards the door.
She had just pulled it open when she immediately came face to face with Uva, who seemed to have been waiting in front of the door for her.
Her face was also young, but it was vastly different from her original one and even the one she normally used. It was much younger, and her eyes looked much more innocent and naive than before as she spoke, though the sly look that could usually be seen in her eyes remained.
"As your maid, I can attend if you want!" Uva said, and Violet was instantly relieved.
"Sure, you can follow—" but Uva was already shaking her head as she quickly took a step back, her gaze switching from Violet to the beast that followed behind her.
"I can just stand on the other side with Henry!" she quickly clarified, with a clearly fearful expression on her face that almost made Violet laugh out loud, even as she felt her nerves relax the slightest bit. She nodded in agreement.
"I look okay?" Violet asked, touching her face even as Uva nodded her head.
"Honestly, if I were you, I’d say no to whatever they ask for since it’s clear that whatever they came for is clearly for only their benefit!" Uva said, but Violet immediately nodded, intent on taking the advice very seriously as she watched Uva hurriedly bow her head like a maid and dash forward, down the stairs, heading to the visitors’ hall where Henry had mentioned they would be received.
That’s sure to piss them off! Violet thought, even though she had no intention of allowing them to head anywhere else, especially since, if Cain could talk, she knew he would simply leave them waiting at the car park or worse...might just leave them by the gate.
Taking a deep breath, Violet did her best to look relaxed as she climbed down the stairs, plastering a neutral expression on her face as she walked down.
The sound of her shoes and the beast’s low growls were the only sounds she could hear as she headed to the ground floor and towards the mighty doors in the hall where five Werewolf lords were waiting for her—a witch whom they would kill on sight if they were ever to find out her secret.
Again, she took in another deep breath and walked in through the door, her entire body freezing in fear as she felt four stormy gazes land on her from different corners of where they stood.
The air was thick with such tension that, although Violet wasn’t a Werewolf, she could still feel the pressure they each exuded, mostly to try and pressure her into doing as they wanted.
The worst part was that, as much as she tried to fight it, she couldn’t, lowering her head out of instinct even as one of them began to speak.
"You took your bloody time!" Lady Harriet barked out in a clearly annoyed tone, but she had just spoken when the sound of metal being wrenched from its hinges echoed across the room, followed by the sound of bricks being knocked down.
In mere seconds, a large enough hole was created just before they all watched closely as a large beast walked into the room, the pressure it exuded enough to make their jaws drop to the ground as all of them instantly scrambled to their feet, staring warily at the beast.
Violet, who had forgotten how Cain would get inside the room, couldn’t help but chuckle in response, finding it even more funny by the various reactions on the faces of the lords who had been trying to scare her.
You can scare me, but you’re scared of Cain, she thought, her heart much calmer as she stretched her hand forward and watched as Cain immediately moved closer, leaning his head forward and pushing it towards her, begging to be rubbed. frёeweɓηovel.coɱ
Something she instantly did without hesitation and with a wide smile on her face, to the shock of all the lords there. She did this for a while before she finally sank into her seat with a confident look on her face.
Shocked to watch Cain’s beast lie on the ground by her side, a shock she did her best to hide even though everyone else failed...and badly!
