Chapter 300: Did you Sleep?

By the time they were done with Cain helping her wash her body, Violet could barely move. Her eyelashes fluttered as she drifted off to sleep, even as she clung tightly to Cain.

She was aware of when he picked her up out of the tub and dried her body, but she couldn’t be bothered to open her eyes and pay attention to whatever he was doing. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓

Not until she felt him drop her under soft sheets, along with the warmth of his body, which she refused to let go of, not even a little bit.

A bit of a smile could be found at the edge of her lips as she comfortably wrapped her entire body around him and went ahead to sleep.

It wasn’t until she felt a warm light on her face that she stirred, her eyes popping open one after the other as she saw the brightness of the sun shining outside the window.

The sheets were white and soft, and her body felt clean in a way that made her want to dissolve deeper into them.

Her body felt extremely light as she hugged the pillow tightly, unwilling to let go of it, even as she closed her eyes and instantly tried to go back to sleep—only to fail.

Jerking up and off the bed the next second, she turned her face to glare at the open window, realizing that she could no longer go back to sleep, as much as she wanted to.

Her hands slowly rubbed against her stomach as she realized that she was hungrier than she thought.

She wasn’t surprised to look around the room and discover that she was the only one in it. Her next action was to completely get off the bed, not sparing another look at the plain white shirt she wore, which was big enough to cover her thighs and obviously belonged to Cain, as she instantly moved to look for him.

Violet was a bit surprised not to find him in the entirety of the bedroom, even when she moved towards the space where his study could be found.

A crease of worry formed on her forehead as she wondered where he could have gone. But instead of worrying, she decided to bathe first and eat something before finding out.

It took all but fifteen minutes before she was clean and fresh, wearing a red blouse and black pants from the clothes in her wardrobe.

Violet had just finished dressing when she went ahead to ring for a servant to bring breakfast, which she desperately craved to fill her stomach.

This took a while to arrive, and Violet was still debating between finding where Cain had gone and waiting for her food to arrive when she heard the door being pushed open from the outside.

Her first instinct was to immediately move to check who it was, delightfully surprised to see that it was Cain.

She moved towards him with lightning speed, only to pause as she noticed the huge frown plastered across his face, even as he heavily massaged his forehead, a hint of pain in his eyes.

"Are you okay?" Violet immediately asked the moment she saw him. There was a bit of sweat plastered along his forehead, but she didn’t seem to care as she went ahead to place the back of her hand against his head.

"You look like you’re in pain!" Violet pointed out something that shouldn’t be possible, since werewolves had crazy regenerative powers, which meant that health problems were something they never had to worry about.

"What’s wrong?" Violet pressed, especially after watching Cain continue to vigorously shake his head over and over again, even as he moved closer to plant a kiss against her cheek.

"I’m okay, Violet!" he responded, even as he spoke to her in an extremely caring tone.

"Have you eaten?" he asked, looking at her in such an intense way that it couldn’t help but make her remember every single moment of what they had done the night before.

Her cheeks reddened all over again as she lightly shook her head. "No! But a servant should bring it soon. We can eat together!" Violet declared, almost like it was something that shouldn’t even be a question.

She wanted him like she had never wanted anyone else before, and now that he had clearly shown that he wanted her too, there was no reason to continue to run from something she wanted.

Sometimes, even the idea of having his children sent butterflies through her stomach with every second she thought about it, as she raised her eyes to meet his gaze.

"We could also—" But she didn’t get to finish before Cain cut her off with a slightly apologetic look on his face.

"No! I’m not feeling hungry right now," Cain responded in a tone lower than before, which only made Violet step back, even as she took a better look at him with a confused expression on her face.

Her brows scrunched together as she wordlessly stared at him, even as he continued to speak.

"I can eat later," he said as he gently ran his hand along the nape of her neck.

Something that Violet ignored as she continued to wordlessly stare at him for the next few seconds until she finally opened her mouth to speak.

"When was the last time you ate?" her voice was even lower than his own, surprisingly close to a whisper.

A worried expression crossed her face as she looked right at him and waited for him to answer, realizing that she had ignored the fact that he had only just recovered simply because of the numerous events that had been happening.

The probability that whatever had changed him into a human was bad for him was still high, considering the way Uva had acted when she had tried to feed the entire bottle to him.

"Cain!" her voice was fiercer now when, after a couple of seconds, Cain was yet to answer, rubbing his head as he looked at her with a tired expression deep in his eyes.

"Di-did you even get any sleep?" she asked him, a light stutter in her tone as she tried to understand what was going on, even as her heartbeat slowly began to pick up.
