A ripple of stunned silence swept the crowd the moment Lan Xuan and his guards fell defeated. Lantern flames flickered against shocked faces. Vendors froze mid-pack, a street acrobat's spinning plate clattered to the ground, and even the city watchman halted in his stride. Everywhere, mouths hung open.

Then the whispers began—soft, cautious, carrying like wind through the narrow street:

"Who… who are those two women?" a butcher murmured, blade paused in mid-cut.

"I've never felt qi like that," a tea merchant said, voice low. "It was as if lightning and moonlight combined."

A scholar, ink-stained sleeves rolled up, stared after the pair, spectacles gleaming. "Extraordinary backgrounds," he muttered. "Surely not ordinary cultivators."

No one dared speak louder. The aura around them still humbled the very air—rumbling like distant thunder. Yet among the awe, a few voices edged into certainty.

"Isn't that Immortal Mo Yuxin?" a timber-merchant's apprentice asked, wide-eyed. "The one from last year who… single-handedly destroyed the Mo Family?"

Heads snapped in that direction. Murmurs caught fire. freёnovelkiss.com

"By the city lord's decree, he had the Mo clan wiped out! Are you saying it's really her?"

Another voice, rough like gravel: "I heard she vanished after that. No word for twelve whole months. And now—she returns, more powerful than ever!"

A silk weaver, his foot lodged in a crate, grumbled, "Impossible. I saw her back then, barely late‐stage foundation. How could she grow to this level so fast? Even one of those guards was a real Golden Core warrior!"

But a nearby cloth-dyer nodded fiercely. "I tell you, she is Mo Yuxin. The resemblance—those pale eyes, that stormy qi. None else could move leaves with a thought."

A soft voice piped up from the back: "Wait—who is Mo Yuxin, anyway?"

"Her Mo Family," the dyer snorted, "was the proudest clan in the east quarter of the city. Until one year ago when she… you know… brought an end to them all. Now the name 'Mo' commands fear and respect."

"Yeah, the city lord bowed to her," piped the scholar, voice awed.

Just then, someone in the front of the crowd pointed, voice trembling: "Over there—look!"

All eyes turned to the two women standing at the shop's threshold. And as they did, a new name rippled through the whispers:

"That… that is Su Yubing!"

Gasps scattered like startled birds. "The daughter of the Su family?"

"So they say. She went on an adventure a year ago… nobody heard from her since."

"But look at her! She's grown into a goddess."

A confectioner nudged his apprentice: "Her face… like moonlight over rippling water."

A student shivered: "Even her hair glows under these lanterns."

Another added, voice hushed: "If Mo Yuxin is 'Thunder Immortal,' then Su Yubing must be 'Jade Moon Maiden.' Together…" She swallowed. "Heavens help us."

At that, Mo Yuxin's chest tightened. She'd tasted the sweet of dominance moments ago—but now jealousy coiled in her veins. Su Yubing's serene smile, her effortless grace, called attention like a beacon. Every gaze weighed upon Mo Yuxin's heart.

Without warning, she swept an arm around Su Yubing's slender waist, pulling her into a fierce embrace. The crowd stilled at the sight. Then Mo Yuxin's lips claimed Su Yubing's in a kiss both tender and commanding, right in full view of dozens of stunned onlookers.

Silence stretched to eternity.

Only the soft clink of jade rings breaking the hush when Su Yubing's hand slid free. Faces in the crowd flushed. Conversations froze at mid-word.

After a heartbeat, Mo Yuxin broke the kiss, pressing her forehead to Su Yubing's. Her voice rang clear, carrying easily:"Baby, let's go home. We haven't been back in a year."

That simple declaration shattered the spell. Slowly, whispers bloomed:

"She kissed her!"

"Even women blush at that."

"But no one dares stop them."

"They truly own Azure Dragon City now."

Mo Yuxin let Su Yubing's hand slide into hers and turned. Together, they stepped from the shop into the lantern-lit street, shoulders brushing like twin shadows. The crowd parted around them like water, peering from every corner but never daring to bar their path.

A butcher set down his cleaver with a clatter. "There she goes," he said, voice husky. "Immortal Mo Yuxin and her… partner."

A street urchin squealed, chasing after them a few paces. "Look, big girl! Pretty lady!" But the ice in Mo Yuxin's aura turned his awe into respectful fear; he skidded to a halt.

Mo Yuxin heard but did not slow. Su Yubing tucked a stray lock of hair behind her ear, her jade-bright eyes shining in the lantern glow. Even the moon seemed to lean closer to watch them pass.

Mo Yuxin and Su Yubing rose smoothly into the night sky, their robes billowing like dark clouds caught in a gentle wind. The lantern light from the streets below flickered far beneath them as they soared higher, hand in hand, leaving the bustling city streets behind. No more walking, no more curious eyes following their every step-they chose instead to fly straight toward the city center, where the grandest families and sect leaders lived in sprawling villas and elegant courtyard houses.

The city center was a world apart, a place where power and wealth were on full display. Among all the luxurious estates, the Su family villa stood out the most-vast, with tall gates and beautifully manicured gardens that stretched wide and far. Across the street, directly opposite the main gate of the Su estate, was Mo Yuxin's own courtyard house. It was more modest in size but no less dignified, nestled quietly among similarly styled homes.

They floated down gently, coming to a graceful stop in front of Mo Yuxin's gate. For a moment, both of them just looked around, taking in the familiar surroundings with a soft, nostalgic glow in their eyes. The quiet of the night wrapped around them like a warm blanket.

Mo Yuxin squeezed Su Yubing's hand, fingers intertwining naturally. Her voice dropped to a gentle whisper, "Let me introduce my mother's daughter-in-law to her."

Su Yubing's cheeks flushed a delicate pink, and she teased back shyly, "Shameless."

Mo Yuxin smiled, amused. "I didn't say anything wrong." Then she asked again, a little more seriously, "Do you want to visit your family first?"

Su Yubing shook her head softly. "No, let's meet your parents first. We can go back to my family tomorrow morning. At that time, a year ago when I was almost defeated by that flower thief, I already sent a message to Mother and Father through a talisman that I'd be gone a long time-maybe over a year. They should be prepared. But you didn't tell your mother, right? She must be worried about you."

Mo Yuxin's eyes flickered with a mix of guilt and relief. "No, I didn't. I wanted to wait until I could come back properly."

Su Yubing gave her hand a reassuring squeeze. "Then let's go. It's time they meet you."

Mo Yuxin's hand paused mid-air as she realized the gate was already slightly ajar. She pushed it open with a soft creak, the sound swallowed by the thick night air. The courtyard unfolded before them-a tranquil expanse of swept stone paths and swaying shadows. But what caught her breath was the forest of trees that had sprouted since her last visit.

A year ago, this courtyard had held only a single, gnarled plum tree-a sapling she'd planted herself. Now, it stood as the centerpiece of a miniature grove. Young peach and magnolia trees clustered around it, their branches interlacing like protective siblings. Wind chimes made of sea glass tinkled softly from their boughs, and the air hummed with the scent of night-blooming jasmine.

"You've been busy, Mother," Mo Yuxin murmured, her throat tight.

Su Yubing's fingers brushed a low-hanging magnolia blossom. "She planted them for you," she said softly, as if reading the unspoken truth.

The main house loomed ahead, its sloped roof crowned with crescent-shaped eaves. Light talismans floated along the veranda-paper cranes infused with golden qi that cast a honeyed glow over lattice windows. The walls, crafted from polished cedar, bore intricate carvings of phoenixes mid-flight, their wings forever frozen in the act of shielding the home.

As they neared, voices drifted through the night-a woman's laughter, bright and warm, tangled with a girl's animated chatter. Mo Yuxin froze.

"-and then I told Teacher Li that if fire qi can melt steel, why shouldn't I use it to roast chestnuts?" The younger voice giggled. "He turned redder than a festival lantern!"

A deeper chuckle followed. "Mo Feng, you'll be the death of that poor man."

Mo Yuxin's chest constricted. Her mother's laughter had gained new wrinkles-a rasp that hadn't been there before. Her sister's voice had shed its childish lilt, teetering on the edge of adolescence.

Su Yubing squeezed her hand. "They're waiting."

They climbed the veranda steps, the old wood groaning familiar complaints beneath their feet. Through the rice-paper screen door, shadows moved-a woman stirring a teapot, a girl braiding her hair with restless fingers.

Mo Yuxin's palm hovered over the doorframe. Twelve months of no contact felt like an almost invisible barrier between her and the people inside.

After coming back from the other world, there has been a lot of changes within her and Su Yubing. She has also retained the complete memories of previous Mo Yuxin or she should say, the previous her. Yes, The previous Mo Yuxin, whom she thought had died merely didn't die but her soul subconsciously merged with hers. The "Rule", her master who let her have the chance to reborn in this world didn't say a lot of things to her before.

Back then she simply thought that master had reincarnated her into a cultivation world and the identity she assumed just happened to be of a girl who is similar to herself.

But the entire story was totally different. It was only after completing the first reincarnation and gaining more powers of the rule did she understand...
