Modern World Warlock-Chapter 265: The Warlock and Cinnamon Rolls
After the Azure Rebels shared their information with the Jade Dragons and the GTS, the three mafia factions began to plan their attacks on Limsa, the city that was being turned into a necropolis.
Imera and Asphodel were working together to create protective talismans for all of the soldiers and agents who were going to travel to the West.
Meanwhile, Dante was in the backyard, producing dozens of healthstones with his shadow well to distribute to all of the teams, and as he took a quick break, he noticed the harpion twins arriving at the backyard along with the vampire fledglings.
Rina and Rona had been educating and taking care of the twins, and Dante could see that their manners were improving daily. Still, it wasn't easy for the warlock to simply get along with them.
When the twins spotted Dante working on his shadow well, they approached him with curious expressions, wondering what their "big brother" was doing.
"Just making some trinkets for the team…" Dante coldly replied.
Nevertheless, the twins weren't affected by the warlock's disinterest, as other demons treated them worse. As long as they weren't beaten or hurt, they had no apprehension to keep on talking.
"What are you fighting, big brother?" Asher asked.
"Undead…" Dante muttered.
"Ewww!" Amara exclaimed, showing her disdain.
Dante glanced at the pair with utter detachment. "Have you ever even seen an undead?" he asked.
"Nope!" The twins answered in unison.
*Sigh* "Right… Well, if you see any around here, you better kill them," Dante commented, seemingly annoyed by the conversation.
However, the twins took his words as a request, and as their eyes were shining with enthusiasm, they promised they would kill any undead that got too close to their home.
Dante didn't think too much about the harpions' promise, and after leaving him alone to play football with the vampire fledglings, he continued his work in creating healthstones for the team.
A few minutes later, Dante was interrupted by Sami, who was also curious about the warlock's activities.
Compared to the harpion twins, Dante seemed pleased to see Sami walking around with a smile on her face, and he didn't mind the interruption since he thought the cyborg was amusing.
Sami had already been taught about the shadow well and how it worked. However, she couldn't use it effectively to create specific trinkets that required the caster to use their blood.
On the other hand, Sami seemed to have an affinity for spells that used hellfire, a powerful red and black flame that burned in the depths of hell. freēwēbηovel.c૦m
"By the way, shouldn't you be talking with your ex-bosses?" Dante inquired.
"I was going there, but I got distracted when I saw you out here! I'll get going…" Sami replied with a smile, waving at Dante and running back inside.
'The mansion is getting livelier…' Dante thought, looking slightly pleased.
Still, after producing a few more healthstones, he was interrupted once again, this time by Sophia, who hadn't had enough time to hang out with her friends since she had started her final semester in college.
"Hey, Dante… I made some cinnamon rolls if you want to get one while they are still warm," the blonde said.
In the warlock's mind, he imagined an actual roll of cinnamon and wondered if the taste wouldn't be too strong, prompting Sophie to chuckle.
"That's more of a reason for you to come try them… Come on!" Sophia said, grabbing Dante's hand and guiding him to the back kitchen, where the blonde cooked almost daily.
When they arrived, they met with Zac, Megan, Victoria, and Saris, who were already hovering around the cinnamon rolls' tray with their mouths watering.
"Ah, it's like a sweet roll…" Dante commented, seeing the rolled-up bread drenched in sweet white cream and topped with a cinnamon sparkle.
"How were sweet rolls made?" Sophia pondered, interested in the cuisine of Dante's past world.
"Ermm… Honestly, I only tried them a few times since they were pretty much a dessert for nobles," Dante replied.
In the world of Terra, sugar was a rare ingredient that was mostly reserved for nobles or wealthy commoners. As such, Dante only got to try a sweet roll the few times when a noble invited his party to dinner.
"As far as I could tell, it was just a rolled-up bread with a lot of sugar…" Dante explained.
"Honestly, any sweet that I've eaten from you is a hundred times better than anything I ever had there…" He continued, earnestly praising Sophia's cooking.
With her cheeks blushing, Sophia began serving the cinnamon rolls to everyone, glancing at Dante, wanting to see his reaction to her sweets.
Just as the warlock expected, as soon as he tried a bite, the sweetness of the cream spread through his mouth.
"Hmm, a hundred times better may have been too low of a score…" Dante commented, glancing at Sophia with a slight smile that made the woman blush again.
"I smell sweeeeeeeets!" Amara's voice could be heard approaching the kitchen.
Not even a minute later, the harpion twins and the vampire fledglings were standing at the kitchen door, their mouths visibly watering from the sweet aroma.
"Si-sister Sophia… What is that?" Asher asked, rubbing his chin to clean some of his drool.
The blonde chuckled at the kids' interest, serving them each a good portion, including the two vampire fledglings, who barely spoke to the others.
Vampires didn't have the need to eat to stay alive. However, that didn't mean they couldn't eat anything.
Dante knew that Asphodel hated eating any kind of food in their past world, but he had seen her entire family eating dinner on Earth, and he realized that Asphodel simply hated the food from their world, not food in general.
"Most of you will be fighting the cartel soon…" Sophia muttered as everyone ate their desserts.
"Please be careful, and remember that we will be here waiting for you all to return," she continued.
"Don't worry, sis. Asher and I will kill any undead that comes close to our home!" Amara exclaimed with a mouthful, making the group chuckle as she looked kind of adorable—except for Dante.
