Modern World Warlock-Chapter 299: Death Knights’ Send Off
After Isidor used the last of his ether to teleport himself away from Dante, he was transported to the rooftop of a mansion located right next to the partition that divided the corrupted part of the city from the rest.
At the rooftop, Netherius was looking at the distance with a somewhat satisfied expression, glancing to the side with little interest when he heard Isidor arriving.
"So, you've returned…" Netherius commented.
"Apologies, Master. That Hellslayer is… something," Isidor replied, kneeling down in pain as he held his severed arm.
"Mhmm, I did warn you about him," Netherius said, approaching the knight and aiming his palm at him.
As a teal mist began to appear around the pair, it shrouded Isidor's body, mending his wounds and re-attaching his arm.
"It does not matter if you die. As long as I live, I can always bring you back," Netherius said, finishing the healing process.
"Still, it's good to see such a large group of visitors in our territory…" the necromancer continued, glancing back at the distance, where the corrupted skyline could be seen clearly.
Since the death's ichor that corrupted Limsa was Netherius' creation, he was able to project his presence anywhere the ichor had settled. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com
The entire corrupted area was the necromancer's domain, so he was able to spot all the different groups scouting the city.
He could move his undead monsters around like chess pieces on a board, placing them wherever they were needed the most, and he could even alter the environment, though that required a lot more power.
After Netherius had taken a peek at all of the infiltrated teams, he grinned evilly, knowing that their territories would have less protection without their heavy hitters.
The necromancer snapped his fingers, and his five most powerful Death Knights were summoned right behind him. They appeared from a cloud of shadows mixed with teal necrotic energy.
"We got visitors, so make them feel at home, would you?" Netherius asked his subordinates.
"I'll keep bringing you back even if you die, so fight to your heart's content," he continued.
Still, Netherius was aware that none of his Death Knights would prove to be a challenge for Dante, and he could also see that Imera and Asphodel were flying around the necropolis. Hence, the necromancer decided to avoid them.
With another snap of his fingers, he sent each of his Death Knights to a different location of the necropolis, where they would appear near one of the infiltrated teams.
Nevertheless, facing his enemies in his territory was just the first part of the necromancer's plan, as he expected the strongest soldiers from the mafia to be present so he could still follow up his scheme of kidnapping Camille in the meantime.
After Netherius sent all of his subordinates to battle, Wolfram went up to the roof of the mansion, and the wizard seemed strangely calm for the amount of action that was happening in the necropolis.
"Are you sure this will work?" Wolfram inquired.
"You can never be too sure about anything, Wolfram," Netherius replied.
"Mhmm, you are right about that. But is it really worth it? Why are you so obsessed with that silver-haired woman?" Wolfram asked.
"Truthfully, I wasn't interested in her until we met at the Stellar reunion…" the necromancer replied.
Netherius had never been interested in looking for a partner, as becoming the strongest necromancer to ever live was his sole priority in life. However, he realized that the reason he was never interested in a relationship was the fact that Netherius had never met a woman whom he thought highly of.
When the Jade Dragons came out victorious from their war against the Blood Dragons, Netherius had a talk with Noah Summer, who explained that Camille was the mastermind behind the mafia faction.
From that moment on, Netherius started getting more curious about the Winter handler, and when they finally met, he couldn't help feeling attracted to her.
Her long silver hair and perfect figure, combined with her imposing and serious attitude, were features that Netherius couldn't ignore, and the fact that she was able to stand tall against his presence made the necromancer genuinely fall in love.
Nonetheless, he wouldn't stop chasing his goal, not even for love, so he decided he would force Camille into becoming his bride.
Netherius knew that Camille had connections with powerful organizations and governments all over the world, and while the cartel had their own partners worldwide, they were mostly criminal organizations.
If Netherius wanted to spread his influence around the globe, he would need allies outside Novaria, and Camille was the perfect subject to link them together.

At the Jade Palace, Camille and the rest of the faction who stayed behind were watching the live feeds recorded by some of the members.
Suddenly, Camille received a message on her earpiece from Trinity, who had been following Dante's trail.
Thanks to Trinity, the warlock managed to get to Tanya and Dirk in time before they perished from the thick necrotic air. However, the hacker wasn't aware that they would be news reporters, so she was feeling a bit nervous about it.
"Wait, what!? Dante is giving interviews!?" Camille exclaimed, standing up from her seat.
When Trinity calmly explained the situation, the handler tiredly exhaled and sat back down. "I suppose if Dante saved them, he must have had a good reason for it…" she muttered.
Ever since Camille started working with Dante, she noticed that the warlock would choose in a seemingly random manner who would die and who would live. However, Dante's decisions weren't random at all.
It all started during one of the first missions he was sent on, where he spared the guards who were protecting a gate, but then he killed everyone inside.
When Camille asked him the reason for sparing the guard, Dante explained that he could sense the man had a deep love for his daughter, and it was clear that the security guard was simply doing his job and wasn't connected to the atrocities of the Blood Dragons.
From that moment on, Camille trusted Dante's judgment entirely.
