Zhan Ze reached out to stop her. “You better stay here. Your grandfather’s fine, we don’t need you stirring up more chaos.”
“Dad, what do you mean by ‘stirring up chaos’?” Zhan Mingyan grumbled as she lay back on the bed. “I’m just afraid of giving my grandfather a heart attack.”
“But you still keep running around evreywhere.” added Lu Hui.
“I was just going to invite Jian Qing to our house as a guest when this happened halfway. I’m lucky Jian Qing was there.” Zhan Mingyan caught Lu Hui’s glance, and with a blink and a twinkle in her eyes, she said in reference to Jian Qing: “Mom, isn’t she super impressive?”
“Yes, yes, she is.” Lu Hui replied with a reluctant smile; “How could the person my precious daughter sings praises of not be good?”
“Of course! She’s super amazing.” Zhan Mingyan said with a proud look on her face.
“Didn’t you have a liking for Quan Jingwu before?” asked Lu Hui in a teasing tone. “How come you like Jian Qing so much now?”
“Who said that? I simply admired Quan Jingwu.” The thought of that figure in white crossed her mind, leaving a trace of unrest in the depths of her eyes.
Lu Hui and Zhan Ze exchanged glances and shook their heads in resignation.

“The number you dialled… is a vacant number…” The repeated message on the phone intensified Chu Ruohan’s anxiety. She was glancing at the news report on TV while throwing her phone onto the floor in annoyance.
