'Who is he?' I asked myself as I looked at the human.

There is nothing special about him, he looked normal adult human with average features. He is in the Primary-III stage. As for what level he is, I could not tell; it is not a problem, I had faced before.

I do not feel any danger from him and that is scaring me.

My instincts are good, it is what helped me survive in the hostile world. I looked at him, and I do not feel anything. I felt danger from my friends who mean well, but this human gave me nothing.

I decided not to think about it and turned my eyes to the essence rose in my hand, which is about to disappear.

He had called it essence rose, and the name is apt considering it is crafted from the essence of spawns. A miracle, something they had tried to achieve, but never been able to, especially at such a lower level.

They have created artifacts and devices that helped them extract the energies from the spawns to consume later.

I have a few of them in my storage. It's through them I practice.

This essence rose is on a completely different level. It is wholly made from the essence of the spawn and nothing else. It should be impossible to mold it in such a stable stage, as the spawn's essence is inherently unstable.

There is another thing that shocks me about the rose is the energy it contains. Our artifacts were able to harness 30% to 40% essence of the spawns, while this one has 100%.

A thing he never heard of anyone achieving.

A few minutes passed, and I stopped taking the energy. My core is filled; I could not take any more of the energy.

"Reached the limit?" asked the human, without even looking at me. "Yes," I replied, at the moment of silence, before placing the rose back into the box gently.

"Even with most of the energy going to the healing. You have quite a capacity; the satellite and the inheritance core you had created are amazing," he said, and I froze once again.

He is speaking about things, extremely few people knew about.

I wanted to kill him. These are secrets that are keeping me alive, but he is speaking to them casually.

"You had scanned me?" I asked, to which he smiled. "Of course, I did or how else would I have healed you?" he replied, and the answer did not make felt better; instead, it made me feel worse.

Scanning does not reveal my secrets; Sovereigns have scanned me, but they were not able to find anything about my secrets, he seemed to know well.

I opened my mouth to ask how did it but closed it. It is not a time to ask that.

I should more worry about escaping him. I am more or less healed and could use my full power, but I don't think it would be enough to deal with this human. I could use that, but I have only one and I have kept it for the Sovereign.

It is why I had not been used to those bastards hunting me.

I wanted to use it when Sovereign arrive; that way, I would have been able to kill all of them and take their storage.

This time, I will not wait. If this human tried to block my way, I will use it, but whether it will work against him or not; I don't know.

I will burn that bridge when the time comes. Till then, I will engage with this human, I felt like the encounter with him is not all bad; I might be able to get something out of him before I escape his clutches.

I clear my thoughts and look at him, or rather, what he was doing.

Cooking was never my strong suit, but this human seemed to be born for it. If he hadn't spoken those words and revealed those essence roses, I would have thought he was a culinary master.

His skills seemed almost good as Krias's. She had made the best food I had ever eaten in my life. Google search 𝙛𝘳𝘦𝐞𝑤ℯ𝗯n𝗼ѵe𝑙. c૦𝑚

Seeing him cook, I felt like I was in for another best treatment for my life.

Hun!

I was watching when suddenly he froze for a second before a big smile appeared on his face.

This sudden change in his emotions couldn't help but catch me off guard and made me think if he was someone unstable. I hope he is not; these people are hard to deal with.

"What happened?" I asked, to which he turned to me with a smile. "Something good," He replied. I wanted to ask him further, but looking at his expression, it is clear that he will not tell me.

A few minutes later, the dinner was cooked, and I move to help him set the table. I may be captive, but it is the least I could do.

"Let me," I said as I tried to pick up the pot. "You are a guest," he said and picked up the pot, and set it on the table.

I did not force myself and instead just sit down; a couple of seconds later, he finished and sat down, with delicious food in front of us, along with a bottle of wine.

"I have been a poor host; you have been in my abode for two hours, and I did not even ask your name," he said and looked at me.

"Its Ven," I replied before I could stop myself.

It is my real name, not the one I use. I don't know why I told the human.

"And yours?" I asked. "Michael," he replied with a smile. I don't know whether it is a true name or not, but it is the one I have gotten from him and referred to him as such.

There was a moment of silence before he opened the wine bottle and poured the wine into the glass.

Clink!

"To progress," he said, and I repeated before we clinked the glasses.

"It is good," I said as I took a sip. "It is," he replied, sounding surprised as he took the sip.

Seeing how surprised he is, it looked like he had likely gotten the bottle from the others and not brought it from the store.

I took another sip before moving to the delicious food in front of me.

"Mmmmm!"

As I took the first bite, an unconscious sound couldn't help, but escape from my mouth. It is delicious, very delicious.

I had nearly forgotten the magic of the food. I would usually eat anything, as long as it gives me the nutrition, I will eat anything.

I took another bite and then another, and before I know it, I cleaned my plate and thank the human, who filled it without saying a word.

We ate silently without speaking a word. I am busy with my thoughts, mostly planning on how I would escape. The more I think about it, the worse my mood became.

Aside from using the last option, I see no other chance that will let me escape from the clutches of this human.
