Chapter 68 - 68: Asking for Help from the Uchiha

Kagami slowly opened his eyes to the sight of jagged rocks surrounding him. As his vision cleared, he realized he was inside a cave. Ahead of him, Tobirama had his back turned, crouched by a crackling fire as he added more firewood and carefully roasted a rabbit.

"You're awake? Kagami." Tobirama glanced back and noticed him stirring. "Be careful when you move. I already bandaged you, so don't go tearing those wounds open."

"You've been out cold for two full days. I'm still pretty banged up myself, so I'm in no rush to head back to the village. Let's eat something first."

"Yes, Master."

Kagami sat up slowly, wincing slightly, and took the roasted rabbit Tobirama handed him. After two days of unconsciousness, his stomach was painfully empty, and the smell of roasted meat was irresistible. He took a bite, and the taste felt heavenly.

"Master, what happened to the last one of Kumogakure's Golden and Silver Brothers?"

"They were crushed by Susanoo in one slap. Honestly, I didn't even see a complete body. Just a pile of mangled flesh and mud."

Kagami went quiet, disturbed by the mental image. He'd seen death before, but this kind of annihilation was grotesque.

"Don't feel bad," Tobirama said calmly. "That's the world we live in—kill or be killed. Kinkaku and Ginkaku brought this on themselves. If you'd fallen into their hands, your fate wouldn't have been any better."

"Master, why is Master Xiu Yu's Susanoo so... massive?"

Tobirama let out a small chuckle. "Curious, are you? That makes sense. You're from the younger generation of Uchiha—you wouldn't know much about Xiuyu's situation."

He tossed another stick onto the fire and continued, "The size of the Susanoo is tied to the level of the Sharingan. It has stages. The Mangekyō Sharingan is the foundation—you need that to summon Susanoo at all. From what I can tell, your Susanoo is still at the first stage. Basic, but functional. It gives you a solid fighting chance against Kage-level opponents. You might have an edge over the Kazekage but would struggle against someone like the Tsuchikage."

He gave Kagami a side glance. "Susanoo drains your body fast. You can't keep it up for long. Am I right?"

"Yes, Master. When I activated it, my body was in serious pain, and the strain on my eyes was huge."

"Exactly. The next step is the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan. That unlocks the advanced stages of Susanoo—but I don't know all the details. As for Xiuyu's version, well... considering the legends about him, it's not surprising."

Tobirama handed over another piece of rabbit.

"I should be thanking you. If you hadn't come back when you did, I might not have made it."

Kagami scratched his head sheepishly. "I didn't really do much. Most of the credit goes to Master Xiuyu."

Meanwhile, back in Konoha, Sarutobi and his team had finally returned to the village after a long journey. They quickly reported the events surrounding the Second Hokage and then made their way to request a meeting with the Uchiha clan.

"Please wait. We need to inform the clan leader," said the guard, stopping them just outside the Uchiha gate.

Before they could even step onto Uchiha grounds, they were already being turned away.

"Sarutobi, isn't this a bit much? Are the Uchiha really this arrogant?" muttered Utatane Koharu under her breath.

"Watch your mouth, Koharu," Sarutobi scolded quietly. "This is Uchiha territory."

"We've been polite enough to let you wait here," the guard snapped, clearly unbothered by Koharu's status as a woman. "Don't test us. The Uchiha aren't people you can talk down to."

Koharu flushed with embarrassment, feeling both humiliated and aggrieved.

"What? The Uchiha think they're better than everyone else now?" Danzo chimed in coldly. Though the insult seemed directed at the clan, he was mostly speaking up because Koharu had been insulted.

"I can't say what the Uchiha were like before," the guard responded, "but I joined them later in life. I was just a commoner. Even so, they never treated me as an outsider. The Uchiha don't talk behind your back. They'll say what they mean straight to your face. That's more than I can say for most people."

"You—!" Danzo's face twitched.

"Enough!" Sarutobi cut in. "Don't forget why we're here. The Uchiha haven't done anything wrong."

Just then, the reporting guard returned. "Come. I'll take you to the clan leader."

After winding through the compound, the group was led to a large reception room. Two people were seated inside. One had long, flowing hair and wore the signature red armor of the Uchiha. The other wore loose robes and looked remarkably young.

"What is it?" Madara asked, scanning them with a bored glance. His gaze lingered on Sarutobi for a moment—he could tell this kid was no slouch.

"Madara-sama, I'm Sarutobi Hiruzen," he began respectfully. "Tobirama-sama led us to negotiate a treaty with Kumogakure, but we were ambushed by the Golden and Silver Brothers. Tobirama-sama stayed behind to cover our retreat. We came to ask for your assistance."

Madara scoffed. "Tobirama's slipping if two nobodies like them were enough to trap him. How embarrassing."

His tone dripped with disdain. To him, Tobirama had always been clever but ultimately weak—especially compared to Hashirama. And from Madara's perspective, that gap wasn't even close.

Hiruzen and the others stiffened. That didn't sound like a man willing to help.

"Where's Kagami? Wasn't he with you?" the younger man beside Madara suddenly asked.

"Kagami... went back to support Tobirama-sama," Sarutobi answered.

"Then it's fine," the man said. "You can all go. Tobirama should be back in two days."

None of them moved. They didn't recognize this younger man, but they could tell he had authority. Still, it was hard to just take his word for it.

"Let's go," Madara said. "If Xiuyu says it's fine, then it is. He made arrangements for Kagami. There's nothing to worry about."

The moment Madara heard that Kagami had returned to help Tobirama, he felt reassured. With Xiuyu's seal in place, Tobirama's safety was guaranteed.

"Fine. Send someone to retrieve them—and grab the weapons those two freaks used."

He turned to the group as they prepared to leave. "And next time, Utatane Koharu, keep your little insults to yourself. I heard everything."

Koharu flinched as if struck. Sarutobi and Danzo had to practically drag her out of the room.

"Hiruzen was that guy just now Uchiha Xiuyu?" Danzo asked quietly.

"Pretty sure. That's my first time seeing him too. But aside from Madara, there's no one else who could sit beside him like that."

Sarutobi's eyes were wide with amazement. Today had been an eye-opener.

"He looked about our age," Koharu muttered. "How can someone so young be that strong? Isn't he called a god of the ninja world?"

"Madara looked even more imposing," Danzo added. "But still... he doesn't look much older than Lord Tobirama either. Do Uchiha age slower or something?"

"What are you thinking of—the Uzumaki clan?" Sarutobi chuckled lightly.

With no other choice, the three turned back and began preparing for the worst—just in case—while waiting for Tobirama's return.

------------

Sure enough, not long after, Tobirama and Kagami returned safely to Konoha. Tobirama was seriously injured, and it was thanks to Kagami's support that he made it back in one piece.

Tobirama's smooth return instantly calmed the undercurrents stirring within the village. Following the requests of Su Xiuyu and Madara, both the Uzumaki and Uchiha clans began to step back from interfering in Konoha's major affairs, especially decisions that shaped the future of the village.

Su Xiuyu felt there was no point bullying Konoha after Hashirama's death. With that, both clans chose to remain quiet and avoid unnecessary conflict.

Soon, word spread throughout the ninja world that Kinkaku and Ginkaku had ambushed the negotiation site between Kumogakure and Konohagakure, leading to the death of Raikage A. News of the Second Hokage's serious injury followed shortly after. As for Kinkaku and Ginkaku, they vanished without a trace. Most assumed Tobirama had killed them, albeit at a great cost.

In the original timeline, Tobirama was left on the brink of death. But due to the butterfly effect triggered by Su Xiuyu's actions, while Tobirama was still gravely wounded, his life was not in immediate danger.

Not long after, Tobirama officially passed the title of Hokage to Sarutobi Hiruzen. He saw the future clearly—young people like Hiruzen still had a long path ahead. With his injuries, Tobirama decided it was time to retire and heal. He and his brother had given everything to build and protect Konoha. Now it was time to hand over the torch.

Soon, more shocking news rocked the ninja world: both the Second Tsuchikage Mu and the Second Mizukage Gengetsu Hozuki were reported dead. The entire world was thrown into chaos. Though peace had barely held for a few years, a major confrontation erupted again.

Fortunately, this war—later remembered as the First Ninja World War—did not escalate into an all-consuming conflict. Skirmishes remained regional, with casualties on both sides, but the violence eventually settled after two to three years.

Kumogakure was the worst off. Their two elite jonin had not only led a failed mission that got their own Raikage killed, but they also died at the hands of Tobirama. As for the Tsuchikage and Mizukage, they perished together, victims of poor timing and bad luck.

Sunagakure, on the other hand, managed to avoid disaster. They didn't deploy any weapons and stayed out of major conflicts. However, being the poorest among the Five Great Villages, their position remained weak. Although the Second Kazekage, Shamon, worked tirelessly to improve Sand's military strength, the village severely lacked talent and exceptional young ninjas.

With the war settled, Hiruzen officially took over as Hokage. Thanks to Tobirama still being alive and backing him up, the succession went smoothly.

Meanwhile, both the Uchiha and Uzumaki clans saw a population boom. Over the last couple of years, Su Xiuyu and Madara had been growing their clans steadily. The peace and stability allowed their people to thrive.

Tobirama no longer concerned himself with clan politics. After witnessing Hashirama and Madara's battle against Kinshiki Ōtsutsuki, much of his prejudice against the Uchiha faded.

---

On a sunny day, Su Xiuyu and Madara paid Tobirama a visit.

"It's been a while," Su Xiuyu said with a faint smile.

"Yeah, it has." Tobirama nodded, his voice carrying a rare softness. "You haven't changed a bit. Still as bold as ever... My brother passed away first."

The years had mellowed Tobirama. The grudges of the past no longer mattered. Too many of the old guard from the Warring States era had already passed.

"I'm here to say goodbye," Su Xiuyu said calmly. "Madara and I are heading out on an adventure. We'll be taking a portion of our clansmen with us. Konoha is in your hands. I heard you passed the Hokage title to Sarutobi Hiruzen? The kid's a little indecisive. I bet he'll be a pain when he gets older."

"You don't have to be so harsh on the younger generation," Tobirama said, surprisingly defending Hiruzen. "Didn't think you paid that much attention to him."

"I don't," Su Xiuyu shrugged. "Just making an observation. I've got no interest in the Hokage seat. You should know that by now."

Tobirama believed him. If Su Xiuyu and Madara had wanted the position, they would've taken it by force. There'd be no need for tricks.

"Will you come back one day?" Tobirama asked.

"We will," Su Xiuyu replied. "But it might be a long time before that happens. Once we're gone, you don't need to give special treatment to the Uchiha or Uzumaki clans. We've left some backup plans. If Konoha ever targets them unfairly, they'll be able to protect themselves."

His words may have sounded like a threat, but from Su Xiuyu, it was more of a simple fact. If he truly wanted to threaten Tobirama, he wouldn't bother with subtlety.

"I understand," Tobirama said. "This may be the last time we meet. I won't stop you, but I hope you return someday. Konoha is your home too."

"Don't worry," Madara added. "The Uchiha and Uzumaki clans will protect Konoha when the time comes."

System Notification:

Marvel Multiverse discovered. Available for exploration. Explore now?

The system—silent for so long—finally came back online, and with a bang. As soon as it activated, it announced a new opportunity: the discovery of the Marvel Multiverse.

This damn system was as unpredictable as ever. No interaction, no prompts, and it only ever showed up when linking to other worlds. Aside from the initial welfare quest when he first arrived in the Naruto world, the system had practically ghosted him.

But now? Now it dropped some massive news. The Marvel Universe—one of the largest, most insane realms out there.

This was also part of the reason Su Xiuyu had decided to leave. The Marvel Universe offered a much higher power ceiling—arguably even higher than the Ōtsutsuki in the Naruto world. While he and Madara might not be able to dominate it outright, they could still hold their own.

And if things went south? The system would get them back out.

Still, the journey ahead would be long. By the time they returned, Tobirama might not even be alive. This farewell could very well be their last meeting in this life.

---

Back in the Uchiha compound, the two great clans—Uchiha and Uzumaki—held a joint meeting.

Su Xiuyu and Madara planned to take a small group of elite members with them. They didn't state the reason outright, but after their prior journey into the Pacific Rim world, those who were in the know could guess—it was likely another new world exploration.

The full truth of these otherworldly expeditions was kept secret, shared only among a select few. It wasn't a matter of mistrust—it was about readiness. If you weren't strong enough, then you didn't need to know. When the time came, someone would fill you in.

From the Uchiha clan, eight of the most talented members were chosen. Uchiha Kagami was not among them. Given his gentle nature, Madara decided to leave him behind to help watch over the village.

The Uzumaki clan also selected eight elite members to accompany them.

Before departing, Su Xiuyu addressed both clans:

"Madara and I have left a backup plan in both clans. If you ever face a threat too powerful to overcome, activate it. Your priority should always be survival. Konoha is your home—protect it if you can. But if it becomes impossible... then protect yourselves first."
