Mummy Evolution-Chapter 96: A cleansing
The battle had ended.
Egrith watched the scene from a distance, hidden among the crowd. The palace fire was being doused by the commoners, all of them working in harmony. Many commoners even looked happy that the Royalty and their army had vanished.
After all, a lack of the government meant no taxes.
Egrith's face was covered in a hood, his eyes gleaming under the shadows.
He could not find the figures of Sett, Zainah, or Zarah inside the palace anymore. They had long scooted from the scene—as any master tactician would. But what was weirder, however, was the fact that not a single corpse remained inside the palace.
Not the corpse of the Tier 2 guards, not the corpse of the Pharaoh or the First Prince. Those corpses had also vanished.
Is that also due to another Axiom ability? Egrith wondered, eyes flickering with killing intent. What kind of ability?
Sett had too many abilities and he knew nothing of them. He didn't even understand the powers of Sett's allies. That Great Wyrm, that thing had came out of nowhere!
Limping on his foot, Egrith walked even further away from the scene.
And as he walked, he contemplated Sett's parting words.
You were too much of a victim, crying about your problems all the time.
If there is a problem, think about a solution, do not mourn that you have a problem.
Indeed, a person should not worry about his problems all the time. That was the mindset of a victim. They would cry about their problems all the time.
Argh, I am born ugly, my fate is doomed!
Argh, I am born with a disease and my whole life is fucked!
That was how victims thought.
Argh—
Egrith's lips curled up.
—I am just a figment of time, my life doesn't matter, I should kill myself.
That had been how he used to think.
He shook his head. He had been too much of a victim.
If you have a problem, think of a solution for it. One should never pity oneself for having a problem and then moan about it. That was unbecoming, idiotic.
If you have a problem, try to find a solution. If there is no solution, stop crying about what you can't control.
If you have a problem and you can change something about it, why worry?
On the other hand, if you can't do anything to change your circumstances, then why worry?
What use is worrying?
It was either action or no action.
One should accept either.
And if one was not willing to accept what they cannot change, though?
Then only one option remained.
They had to find a way to change what cannot be changed.
Egrith had been too worried after learning about his existence as a figment in time. He was not real and his freedom was also limited, after all. But that worry was useless. Since he cannot leave and cannot accept living as a figment in time, he only had one other option.
As he thought of that, a weight slowly lifted from Egrith's shoulder—he began walking a bit straighter.
The crowd didn't notice him.
He was just another person now, not a prince.
Worry. Anxiety. Grief.
Those things were useless.
There must be information out there. There is nothing impossible in this world—there must be a way for people like me to leave the Tombs and walk outside.
And he will find it.
No matter what.
Egrith soon reached an alley. A celebration was going on there—alcohol, old men, and fried meat. The reason for the celebration made Egrith's eyes turn cold.
They were celebrating the ruin of the Royal Family.
His family.
Fools.
Egrith moved away from the alley, leaving behind an array of corpses on his wake.
Blood did not even stain his clothes, but his eyes were colder than a snake.
These commoners were fools, every one of them. They didn't realize that the Royal Family was not only the thing taxing and burdening them, it was also the thing protecting them.
Yes, every community needed protection.
Not only from outsider threats like the beasts beyond the wall or the invaders from another world. There were also insider threats here—people's greed, lust, hunger.
Those things would become unrestrained without the law.
And that would last until a new government is created.
When law and order vanish, the apocalypse begins.
Egrith soon reached the city gates, then, without stopping—left the city. There was no answer in this city. If anything, anyone, could answer him—that would be the Guardians of this Tomb. The Tier 5 beings of this world.
As he walked away, though, he remembered the method he had used to escape.
He clenched his fists.
Space cracked slightly around his fist.
Is this my Axiom?
How did I acquire it?

Meanwhile, in another part of the city.
Sett entered a big communal bath in the city, Zainah and Zarah following behind him.
He figured this place would normally be packed—people laughing, water splashing everywhere—but not today. The chaos from earlier had left the entrance buried under chunks of stone and snapped wood, blocking everyone else out.
Just them now, and he liked it that way.
The water was perfect, clear as glass, catching the faint light leaking through the cracked ceiling. No muck, no filth visible—still, Sett wouldn't have it. He dug into his Inner Tomb, that realm of space inside him, and yanked out a vial of Cleaning Water. Popped it open, poured it in. The stuff hit the pool and spread, making the whole thing shine like polished glass.
Meanwhile the girls, both dirty and disgusted at the dirt, began to undress and cover themselves in towels instead.
Sett did not act gentlemanly at all, enjoying the sight of flashing femininity.
Sadly, dirt and grime protected the true good stuff.
Tsk.
Zainah caught him looking and glared. Zarah didn't notice a damn thing, too busy dipping her foot in the water. Then she jumped, splashing in with a sigh.
"I like this," she said, swimming. "It makes me calm down."
The girl was a surprisingly elegant swimmer.
Sett himself discarded his clothes and entered the tub without any embarrassment. He had nothing to be embarrassed about. The girls had also seen it before, but their reactions were still just as cute.
Zarah didn't seem to see any inappropriateness in it, just watching curiously, while Zainah blushed and looked away.
Sett rubbed some water over his arms, feeling the grime slide off, leaving his skin fresh and cool. Then his eyes flicked back to them—Zainah and Zarah, water dripping off their faces, sticking to their lashes. The water made them look sharper, cleaner, almost too pretty after the hell they'd been through.
"Don't stare at me, stare at big sis," Zarah said, pouting as she swam.
"Why?" Sett smirked. "You are cute too."
"Really?"
Zainah splashed a wave of water at Sett's face.
"Don't even think about it," she warned.

Sett grinned, sinking into the water and reemerging behind the big sister. "I can stare at you, right?"
His bare body pressed firmly against her, and she felt something nudge her back.
Her towel nearly fell.
Zarah splashed splashed away from them, blushing crazily. "Don't do that infront of me, you adulterous couple!"
Zainah, silent, pushed him away, submerging half her face underwater. She was red-faced, pretty as a goose.
"I wonder who was it that said they won't ever choose another one over Sett," he said, looking around dramatically.
She blushed and completely submerged herself.
She said something but it came out as gurgles underwater.
Sett smiled and slipped beneath the surface himself, then reappeared facing her chest. He wrapped his hand around her thin towels, feeling the warmth of her back. Then, he unceremoniously inserted his hand into her towel through the back and felt for her ass. She tightened, but did not move away.
She was especially warm there.
He leaned down, kissed her neck.
She wrapped her hand around his head. "Don't drown," she said. "And—"
Her body froze.
When he touched her butthole, she didn't know what happened, but she just froze.
His face popped out of the water, hand still in there doing business. "You are still sensitive around hmm—" He hummed. "Yeah, right about here."
She abruptly leaned against his chest.
This, what the heck was this?!
A finger went in there.
She took a deep breath in.
"No. No-No wait!" Flustered, she said, "Sett, please, we are not alo—"
Hmm~
A delicious moan.
If she had any dignity as an older sister, it was broken.
Her expression was too much.
Zarah watched with interest. "What an adulterous couple." But then, she noticed Zainah's expression, then Sett's expression, and her own face reddened like crazy.
What exactly were they doing?
Oh god.
She swam away, cursing them.
Sett only felt the warmth under his fingers.
One hand was working on the back, another on the front.
Soon.
Zainah was a mess, falling limp against him.
His fingers were too…
good.
And soon enough, he could feel warm—sticky liquid—on his hand as well.
She was very easy to please.
"I hate you," she said, face red as she bit his shoulder gently.
Sett let go off her too sensitive—after the play—places and wrapped his hand around her waist. He pulled her closer to him, then kissed the top of her head.
She kissed his neck.
They both remained like that for a while.
Zarah muttered, "This is wrong, you should not do this infront of me.
"Don't wanna watch?" Sett shrugged. "Just leave."
The girl pouted.
Zainah tiredly pushed him away.
He fell back into the water with a chuckle, satisfied, but not really satisfied.
Yet, he didn't really want to completely destroy Zarah's opinion of her big sister.
Another better time would come.
He placed a kiss against her inner thigh before swimming away.
She clutched her pearl with her hand, startled.
Sett laughed.
