Raelynn woke up feeling like something was wrong. Her head throbbed, her stomach churned, and the faint memory of the strange, gnawing hunger she'd felt the night before lingered in her mind. She groaned and rolled over, pulling the blankets over her head, but the discomfort wouldn't go away.

She tried to push herself upright but instantly regretted it. The moment she moved, a wave of nausea hit her hard, and she had no choice but to stumble toward the bathroom. Her body seemed to betray her at every turn, and she barely made it to the toilet before she was throwing up, her stomach emptying with an unsettling intensity.

The sensation felt worse than any hangover she'd ever had. Her throat burned, her chest tightened, and for a moment, she thought she might not stop.

She flushed the toilet and splashed cold water on her face, feeling the coolness against her flushed skin. Maybe it was just a weird reaction from the raw meat she'd nearly eaten. Yeah, that had to be it. She just needed to shake it off.

But as she made her way back to her room, the feeling didn't entirely go away. Her head still ached, and she felt this strange heaviness in her stomach, like it was still there, lingering, making her feel off balance.

When she finally made it to the kitchen for breakfast, Raelynn tried to push the discomfort to the back of her mind. She wasn't going to let it ruin her day. But as soon as she sat down at the table and glanced at the food, the nausea hit her again. She didn't even have time to process it before she shot out of her chair, rushing toward the bathroom once more.

Sloane, Hera, and Elion all looked up from the table at her sudden movement. Hera looked up in alarm, and Sloane stood, her face tightening in concern. Elion's brow furrowed, his usual calm demeanor slipping as he stood up too.

Raelynn barely made it to the bathroom before she doubled over, barely able to keep it in. She heard footsteps behind her, but she didn't have the energy to respond.

Raelynn tried to wave them off as they crowded into the space, but the world around her was spinning. Her stomach turned again, and she clutched the side of the sink as if that would somehow help. She felt Elion's hand on her back, then the cool touch of his fingers lifting her hair away from her face.

"Don't come in here, Elion," Raelynn managed to choke out between her gagging. "It's disgusting."

She felt his touch linger for a moment before he pulled away slightly, but his presence didn't retreat.

"I'm not going anywhere," Elion replied, his tone soft, though there was a sense of worry under it.

Raelynn couldn't argue with that. She was far too exhausted and sick to care. As she continued to dry heave, she felt Elion's hand again, gently patting her back in a soothing rhythm. Her stomach spasmed one last time, and she collapsed onto the edge of the bathtub, breathing heavily, trying to steady herself.

Sloane, who had been watching quietly, stepped forward. "It's okay, Raelynn," she said softly, giving her a reassuring smile. "I think we need to get you checked out."

Raelynn groaned, wiping her mouth and shaking her head. "I'm fine. I just... I don't know. It's probably just the food I ate last night, or maybe I'm just tired."

Sloane didn't seem convinced. "Let's get you into the examination room, just to be sure. We don't want to take any chances."

With some help from Elion and Sloane, Raelynn managed to stand and shuffle out of the bathroom, her legs weak beneath her.

Raelynn sat down on the edge of the bed, still feeling dizzy, and glanced up at Sloane as she began to set up for the check-up. "You're gonna tell me I'm fine, right?" she muttered, trying to make light of it.

Sloane gave a reassuring smile as she took out some basic equipment. "You're gonna be okay, Raelynn. There's nothing to worry about."

Elion hovered by the door, his usual calmness returning, though there was still a slight tension around his shoulders. "Is there anything I can do to make you feel better?" he asked, his voice genuine, though the concern in his eyes was clear.

Raelynn couldn't help but give him a sardonic look. "What about switching bodies?" she asked, her voice dry and exhausted. "That might help."

Elion's lips twitched upward for a second, but he didn't laugh. Instead, he looked at Sloane, as if considering the idea seriously, before responding. "I don't think that's possible, but I'm happy to offer moral support."

Raelynn snorted, rolling her eyes. "Of course, thank you."

Sloane finished her initial check-up, taking a few notes on her clipboard before offering Raelynn a warm smile. "It's not uncommon for women to feel sick early in their pregnancy. I know this is a lot to take in, but it's nothing to be worried about. It's normal."

Raelynn leaned back against the bed, closing her eyes, still feeling off but somewhat relieved. "Okay. Thanks, Sloane."

Elion stepped closer to her, his hands in his pockets. "Feel better?" he asked, though the worry in his eyes hadn't fully faded.

Raelynn nodded slowly. "Yeah, just tired. But I'll be fine. Just needed to rest."

Elion stood there for a moment, looking at her with a thoughtful expression, as if deciding whether or not to say something. He gave her a small, reassuring smile and turned toward the door. "I'm going to the office now," he said casually, but there was something in the way he said it that made it feel... different.

Raelynn blinked, momentarily thrown off. This was the first time he'd said that he was going to the office. Normally, he'd just slip away without saying much.

"Oh," Raelynn said, sitting up straighter, though her body was still heavy from the wave of nausea. "Well, uh... good luck," she added, the words coming out more casual than she intended.

Elion turned to face her, his gaze lingering for a moment before he gave a small nod. "Thanks. I'll see you later."
