Chapter 12: Eyes Changes

The notification windows stopped appearing, and the sharp pain in the also ceased, allowing him to open his eyes again.

Erik opened his eyes slowly and was very surprised at what he was seeing.

"Wow, I never thought things would look so clear!"

His vision had improved to a humanly impossible level, even surpassing the strongest hunters, vision-wise.

Everything he saw was extremely impressive. The place was filled with particles of many colors.

He could even see with perfection the small dirt in one corner of the room.

But the more he focused his eyes, the more he could see until he reached a point where all his vision changed completely to black and white.

"What's happening?"

Erik began to panic at the sudden change in his vision. The walls in front of him completely disappeared and all he saw were souls that were light blue all over.

The world before his eyes was completely alien to him. There were all kinds of souls, from those in human form to those that were completely unrecognizable, as if they were screaming in agony.

Gradually his vision returned to normal, but with the change that he could still see everything clearly, apart from the colored particles in the air.

"Haa... haa... What did I just see?"

He exclaimed breathing heavily and with a pale expression, as a cold sweat ran down his forehead.

He is in shock at what he has just witnessed. He hadn't expected at all that his vision would suddenly change like this, where he could see souls... or so he thought, as he wasn't sure what he was seeing.

Was it a figment of his imagination or not? But he was sure it was real.

Intent on no longer thinking about what he had just experienced, he opened the status to see how many levels he had climbed.

'Status window'.

[Fenrir System].

Level: 10

[Abilities]

Savage regeneration, Curse of enchainment.

[Stats]

Strength: 15 | Endurance: 16 | Dexterity: 15 | Vitality: 16 | End Energy: 11

[Fenrir Points: 10]

[Fenrir Store]

[Missions]

"I'm already level ten! And my stats are already in double digits, good, good!"

Erik is pleased to see his current status, it seems that everything he suffered was not in vain, and it was worth it.

'Hmm, my stats went up by one point for every level I went up, skill proficiency didn't increase.'

Erik put his hand on his chin, as he reflected on his condition. And at that moment a window appeared in front of him.

[When reaching level ten I know I unlock a new function of Fenrir points].

[Now you can improve a specific statistic].

[But this function will only work when you have ten Fenrir points].

Erik's eyes widened in surprise as he looked at the windows in front of him, and then looked at his status where the stats are now there is a '+' that was not there before.

'So now I can improve a specific stat.'

The corner of his lips arched upwards, this was perfect for him, because before the stats with Fenrir points were randomly improved.

But now he can upgrade them specifically, something that serves him well to strengthen evenly.

'But to use this function I have to have ten Fenrir points first.'

Erik, putting his thoughts aside, decided to try out the new function, and chose to improve his strength and energy.

[You have used ten Fenrir points in stats, strength, and End Energy]

[Stats]

Strength: 25 | Endurance: 16 | Dexterity: 15 | Vitality: 16 | End Energy: 21.

"Good, but why did they only increase by ten, how strange."

Despite being satisfied, Erik noticed that his stats only increased by two, which seemed strange to him.

Because before, when he improved his stats, he used only two Fenrir points, and this improved all his stats by two except his energy.

So he expected his strength to go up to 30, the same as his energy, but he doesn't complain about this result either.

'Well, I'm not going to complain about this either.'

Erik closed the status window, to relax and let the ability heal his wounds. He had gained a lot from doing the daily mission.

Tti-ring.

[The daily mission is available!]

"Oh, let's see what mission it is this time..."

Just as she was about to go over the details of the mission, the door to the room opened and Paula with a tray of food, followed by four people dressed in elegant black linen suits.

Erik recognized those accompanying Paula; they were all members of the hunters' association: Leon, his subordinate Adrian, and the two test supervisors, Aella and Elio.

As they exchanged glances with him, they seemed to flinch at the sight of his new eyes, though they quickly recovered.

'Why are they here?'

This was the only question that hovered in his mind as he watched those four enter the room with the nurse.

He hadn't done anything, or at least he couldn't remember being involved in any trouble that would warrant their presence. At least that was what he thought.

Paula placed the tray of food on the table and left the room as quickly as she could. She couldn't stand the atmosphere of the place.

Erik began to eat quietly, while Leon took a chair and sat down next to the bed. Behind him, the others stood with serious expressions.

Leon smiled as he noticed how quietly Erik was eating and said, "Hello, we meet again."

Erik didn't respond right away because he was chewing. Although he had not had a formal education, he knew it was impolite to talk with his mouth full. When he finished swallowing, he responded:

"Yes, we meet again, even though it hasn't even been a month."

Leon looked on with a small smile. He liked this attitude, as most hunters and people would get nervous talking to him.

"But you're quite the case. You haven't even been out of the hospital for two days and you're already back, only now you're in the hunter zone."

Erik simply smiled. Leon was right: he had barely been out of the hospital a day and was already on his way back. It hadn't even been forty hours since he'd left.

'In this short time, I experienced many things, from being sent to a random dungeon to facing a guy who wanted to kill me.'

"By the way, what is the reason for your visit?"

He asked directly, dropping the previous formalities.

Leon's smile grew wider. He really liked this boy's attitude more and more. He didn't like to beat around the bush either and asked:

"Well, it turns out there was a rather large incident during the test and we came to ask you some questions."

Erik's expression changed to one of confusion.

'How could I come to him if I had no idea what had happened in the test? He was unconscious.'

"But what happened in the test?"

He wanted to know what had happened during the test, as he had no idea about the incident.

Leon looked back and indicated to Aella to explain what had happened.

Aella stepped forward and began to explain in a serious voice

"What happened in the test was that a loud roar of a wolf was heard and all the monsters started to die. The same thing happened to some of the participants."

She summed up in a few words what happened in the ordeal. Aella was still in shock as she witnessed everything that had happened in the forest.

More than half of it was completely dead and there was no sign of life. She had never witnessed anything like that in her entire life; it was as if the 'End' had come to that place.

"And what does any of this have to do with me?"

Erik asked, totally bewildered. He didn't understand how this incident could be related to him, since, as far as he knew, he had no connection to what had happened.

Did it matter to him what had happened at the test? Of course, he didn't.

Everyone in that place was a stranger to him, and one of those strangers wanted to take his life and show him the reality of things.

So he cares little about what happens to the lives of the hunters.

"The reason we came here is because the report I received indicated that the roar came from the area where you were found unconscious."

Leon said with a tired expression. He had been working overtime all this time because of this incident.

Now Erik was even more confused than before. All he found were undead skeleton monsters and the individual the guy who cut his entire body and then died from the skeleton attack.

"That's why and what does it have to do with me? The only thing I found were skeletons and a guy who died from the attack of one of them."

"Are you sure about what you said?"

"Yes."

"Hmm..."

Leon was silent, thinking, then asked:

"By the way, when did you wake up as a hunter?"

"I woke up two days ago."

"Isn't it a little unwise to take the test right after waking up?"

"Yes, it is dangerous, but my financial situation is not good enough to pay for a course to train my powers."

Leon kept silent, knowing that what he was saying was true. Since he had already researched it, he knew he entered the irregular dungeon.

Seeing that they had nothing else to do, he got up from his chair to leave the place, as he had a lot of work to attend to at the moment.

"Hey, one question, did I pass the test, or will it be my turn to take it again?"

Leon paused and looked him seriously in the eyes for a few seconds before speaking.

"Are you seriously asking about that? After hearing what happened, you don't seem to care what happened to those affected?"

"I don't care about those affected, they're all strangers to me. I'm sure none of them would care in the least if I died."

Erik said with a completely neutral voice and a cold expression.

Leon remained silent and the others were puzzled by this answer. Although he was not wrong in what he said, it was all true, and to say otherwise would be hypocritical on his part.

The atmosphere in the room became tense as Leon stared into Erik's cold eyes for a few seconds until he broke the silence:

"Sure, you passed the test by surviving, as indicated. When you leave the hospital, go claim your hunter card."

With that said, Leon walked out of the room with the others, leaving him alone in the room again.
