Chapter 14 - First Customers (1) frёewebnoѵel.ƈo๓

"Welcome to my tribe. I, Ygroa, am glad to make your acquaintance." Lukas said, casting a charitable smile.

As instructed, he made sure not to look at the visitors. However, he also didn't need to. By studying the intonation of their voice, there was quite a lot about them that he could uncover.

"I see that the goblins are under new leadership," One of them said distastefully. The other quickly joined in, saying, "Yeah, who is you?"

'Ah, skeptics.' Lukas thought with a smile. Addressing the more nervous goblin, the one who only spoke second, Lukas said, "I am Ygroa, the great Chief Deity of Goblins."

"Elves," The first goblin interjected.

Lukas kept his face stoic through his surprise.

'Elves? Did I really make them believe that the Chief Deity of Elves actually became their god?'

Knowing he couldn't dwell on it anymore without losing his credibility, Lukas did his best to improvise.

"Yes. I was the great Chief Deity of the Elves. However, due to some recent events I had decided to move on from them, and instead bless the goblins. After all, do you not see my tribe's new appearance? Do you really think they just gained all that muscle overnight?"

Lukas waved his arms around in an exaggerated manner, accentuating his army's new super soldier state.

Although he couldn't see the goblins, he knew his theatrics were working due to the shuffling of their feet.

After a few seconds, the leader of the 2 asked, "Why? Why would you decide to bless the goblins?"

'Why?'

Well, that was a reasonable question. The goblins weren't all that smart or strong, so it wouldn't make much sense for a god of all beings to bless them over elves. And it was unlikely that, even if he came up with some bs like feeling bad for them, they wouldn't believe it.

Or, more accurately, the smart one wouldn't.

The other one, which was both clearly nervous and barely smarter than Lukas's soldiers, was breathing slowly with wonder.

That wasn't the one he had to convince, though. The smart guy was almost certain to be the one with the gold. If he wanted to sell the piles of shit and actually get a useful item, that's who he needed to convince.

Therefore, Lukas took a few seconds to think before coming up with a wild theory.

"The reason why I decided to bless the goblins is very simple. I believe that, without the mountain's curse, you would be stronger than the elves."

A surprised gasp escaped every goblin's lips, even the smart one's.

After a few seconds he spoke, his voice now low and trembling. "Y-you believe that? Even though we cannot defeat our own goblin warlords, you believe that we could somehow become better than the elves?

Even though the goblin was questioning him, Lukas could tell that it wasn't from a place of scrutiny. It was from a place of self doubt.

'The goblins must not think highly of themselves,' Lukas realized.

That was why they made good servants for the goblin lord. That was why the weaker goblins fully obeyed these stronger ones, clearly fearing them. That was why, when some random person came and claimed to be their god, they believed after the slightest proof.

These people knew nothing more than the curse of the mountain. They spent their entire lives living in fear, looking for any leader who could maybe save them.

Walking over to the goblins, Lukas made one more final gambit. It was likely that they would already believe him, but what greater show of dominance was there than defying the very mountain that had cursed them for forever?

Raising his head to meet their gaze, he smiled at their surprise. Instantly, he felt the pull of the mountain—a pull he had expected.

It wanted to corrupt him, to turn him into its slave. And it easily could, as he wasn't truly a god.

However, what goblin would think that when they saw him walk toward the 2 goblins, seemingly completely unaffected by the mountain.

Lukas knew that it was very likely that only Alara and maybe Fred saw through the deceit and noticed his tightened teeth. He had bitten quite a significant chunk out of the inside of his cheek, and now focused entirely on that pain.

Like before, when Poki had stabbed him, this pain allowed him to ignore the mountain's effects just enough.

Using his smile to hide the moment Lukas swallowed his blood, he placed a hand on the goblin leader's shoulder as he said, "Yes. I believe that you can be stronger than the elves."

Then he walked past the goblins, now returning his gaze away from the mountains. It was a good thing too, because even through his excruciating pain Lukas had almost succumbed to its pull.

After looking in its direction for just a few seconds, he had almost been a goner.

"Follow me," Lukas called to the goblins behind him as he walked toward the mansion.

It was time to sell some shit.
